  1. Awesome ladies! It's refreshing to see your progress! I knew you kept your records! It's terrific to see these numbers drastically go down as the weight comes off, and most of all get out of that category of OBESE or MORBIDLY OBESE we once were in! GREAT WORK! >
  2. Hi all and congratulations on your amazing progress... Since being banded on 5/23, I've steadily lost 2lbs a week like they want you to loose in a healthy way (believe me I'll love to lose more). I'm down to 204lbs from a pre-op of 220 and 211lbs on surgery day. I just wanted you to check the changes on your B MI, which I think is the single most important indicator of health (Weight height ratio). I just realized I went from a B MI of 36.6 to 34.0 and that my friends is AMAZING! I cannot wait to hit the gym for more changes as this is my 3rd week post-op! I'll keep you posted, please share your success >
  3. hey you bandsters! I have a problem and thought as usual someone will have an answer. I'm exactely 2 weeks post-op and everything looks ok. lost 6lbs and my scars are history. But I have a problem with gas... it seems like everything I eat makes me bloated. I stopped drinkin protein shakes thinking they were the cause, but no. I feel heavy, and I can actually see my abdomen distended (not to the extreme, but....) it is very uncomfortable and I have to take Tums and /MOM to get relief... and the cycle starts again once I eat. even Glucerna have similar effect... please help! how can I stop the bloating? thanks to all, as always...
  4. how can I add a glitter and all the other fun stuff to my profile?
  5. Hey all out there, especially new bandsters still wondering where to get the much needed protein? I found a GREAT protein source at GNC. This is week 2 post op for me and Dr Miranda said add at least 30 grams of protein a day to your diet. So this puppy is called ULTIMATE MEAL by Hi-Health. it comes with 23 grams of protein per serving, only 2g of sugar, and 500mg of HOODIA... I mix 2 scoops with a can of Slimfast Optima (also recommended by the good Dr M.) in my shaker in the morning and add fat free milk to lighten the consistency, voila! It's enough for 2 servings (16 ounces). It fills me up for a couple of hours and the taste is GREAT. I also noticed that I've become pretty regular in the bowel area. Maybe it's the Hoodia... I use the vanilla flavor for both. give it a shot!
  6. thank you for that. hope I'll be patient enough!
  7. 1 week post-op, i'm feeling better and can actually swallow water! I guess the swelling is gone and the incisions are healing just fine. anyone started an exercise program? If yes, how long post-band is it safe to hit the gym? I feel good physically, but don't want to stress my band. Is it safe to go back to he gym now? I really miss my cardio classes... thanks guys DeParis
  8. Once again, everything was awesome!! Got my fill and Laurie was afraid so she watched me go first. We laughed and had a ball!! OMG we had fun! It did not hurt at all! I'm serious, not at all. I barely felt the pinch of the needle and it was done. It was so cool seeing my band on the screen and watching the barium flow through it. He puts the saline in and you drink again and you can see how much slower it goes through. I got 1.8cc and I can feel it! Laurie already had a little restriction so she got 1.5cc. She said she could feel it too. I came back to the Hotel and had some broth [over 2 hours ago] and I'm still full!! Hopefully this will help me to start losing again and stop eating too much! We did a little shopping and now we'll be in for the evening. Mikayla got to swim for a bit... too cold, I think! Met a few really nice people here, it was a good day! Darlene
  9. Give them a call, they'll be more than happy to either e-mail or fax you all the info you need. and you'll be talking to one of the MD's himself...

  11. I'm a little tender but can walk around just fine. I am staying here at the clinic i'm still feeling a little tired and want to lood at that DirectTV When I met with Dr. Ortiz he was great. Very down to earth and honest. We had a nice chat about me being overweight since childhood, and how I want this band to help me control the amount of food I eat. It was a very smooth and trouble free. I also did the bus thing in San Diego for three days and it was pretty easy to get around. Got lots, lots, lots of shopping done. For those worring please don't, you are treated with such respect and professionalism. Sue
  12. go to www.drwbartelltj.com, you'll get all the answers to your questions about teeth at a very affordable price. I just had a consult with him and scheduled some work to be done during my first fill around mid-July. It helps to call for informations, but the prices they'll give you are the ones on their website . They'll suggest that you either send a pic of your wide-opened mouth (ouch)!, or to consult with them in person to have the real price. It could definitely be lower or higher depending on the conditions of your teeth before the job is done. In my case,... the price was a LOT lower than I expected. LOL
  13. hi there! just wanted some of you vets to share how much weight you did lose between the band date and the first fill? I can imagine it varies for everyone of us, but just an average will do. Also, the discomfort (around the chest area), how long will it be before it's gone? It's not really painful, it's more uncomfortable and I worry when it's time to go back to work... they'll probably send me home if I make faces. LOL
  14. here I am 1 day post op and I have no pain, my scars looks like a joke. i have no desire to eat, all I have been doing is dfrink water. 16. once again tkanks for the support. You all are a great backbone. And when he asked today how I heard about the center. I creamed THE FORUM of course! he was very happy, needless to say me too...whom ever idea was to start the chatting room is the bomb. 19. 25lbs and 4 pant sizes in 2 months is not enough? be patient girl, you are on the right track. You certainly don't want to drop all your weight at once, I think it's healthy to slowly adjust to your new size. way to go... I'll be joining the band land this Friday 5/23 DeParis
  20. wow! 50lbs lost is a milestone... I am so happy for you. while there did you get a chance to visit the new hotel? how is this one compared to Lucerna? is everything close by? (walking distance). I only hope I'll be as successful as you... I cannot picture myself 50lbs less.. maybe I can LOL DeParis
  21. I'll finally be banded next Friday 5/23. I just ordered the payment of my balance, there is no turning back... I'm scared, happy, confused... all in one. But the little voices in my head and seeing and reading from all of you helps a bunch. I'll be forever grateful of the willingness to share your experiences with the rest of us.... I'll keep you all posted! wish me luck PS: mamamichele, YOU ROCK!!! DeParis
  22. here we go... surgery is may 23 and just started the pre-op diet to lose 11lbs off my 220lbs frame. my friend suggests having a detox, great... I've lived in the bathroom since i've started. I hope it'a really taking care of detoxifying my body, rather than flushing away my electrolytes. Thank GOD it's only a 10 day program! Anyone went through a similar way to "quick lose" those lbs to be ready for the big day? I'll keep you posted on the progress. thanks for you all out there willingly sharing your expertise with such enthusiasm. hope to have the same success ans help anyone in my position some day.

  24. looking forward to wear my size 6 levys jeans. I wore them, believe it or not ust 3 years ago, and they felt great. nothing nancy, just the jeans and finally showing of my arm in sleevless top with "WHAT ARE U LOOKIN AT" engraved to the front...

From having visited this forum frequently, i know most of you have been to TJ more than once... any sugestions as to what to see, do or else to keep busy and make the most of our stay the day before the surgery? Anyone knows a spa or recommendable hair salon, nails? etc ...or just a place to walk and shop they will recommend? our flight gets there at 2:30 pm the day before surgery. we have the whole afternoon to take advantage of this micro-vacation. thanks a bunch DeParis
