Congratulaltions! You saved yourself alot of frustration by not getting into the program in Calgary. Many, many hoops to jump through and lots of classes to take that attempt to teach you all the stuff we all know already. Now the funding has been pulled so I totally wasted my time with them. My heart aches for the ones that are still in it and can't afford to go elsewhere. I met some really wonderful people and they are left standing in the dust. Well I will let you know how my surgery experience goes. These boards have been so helpful to allay my fears. Cheryl

Hi Donna, I haven't been banded yet (going on Thursday) but I have a very close friend who has and she has mentioned to me several times that if she cuts her intake too much she stops losing. I don't know if anyone else out there has had this happen but I'm throwing it out there for what it's worth. I think it has something to do with the metabolism slowing down from starvation. Hope that is of some use to you. Cheryl

Hello everyone, I have been lurking for a couple of days and feel like I know some of you already. I am flying down to have my surgery on the 15th (surgery on the 16th). I sort of made the decision to go to TJ very quickly (last friday) but have been in a program here in Canada for 2.5 years waiting for a surgery date. I finally gave up and decided to pay for it myself. Reading all your posts, especially those of you who graciously took the time and trouble to go over the entire experience has been a huge help in calming my fears. THANK YOU! I really appreciate it.
