  1. Thanks guys -- I feel like I'm 80 though, I walk slow, bend down slow, and say "oye" alot... **laugh..

I did just come back from shopping - any reason to get out and walk right?

I'm drinking a gaterade slurpee (with spoon, no straw) and that seems to be tasting well. So i bough myself a lil ice shaver/ sno cone machine. That might be fun. I figure I can make a crystal light syrup to put on the ice. It's better than all this sugar loading im doing lately.

But then again -- where else are my calories supposed to come from right now?

I'm making homemade chicken stock as we speak, and I'm hoping I'll be hungry enough for it tonight!

Thanks again for all your guy's support...

ps... I have the fleet. Here goes nothing :)

  2.

Don't get me wrong the surgery went great... But I think it had something to do with me telling them I usually have bad nausea after anesthetic, so they doped me up big time on that, as well kept feeding me pain pills, AND putting me on asthma preventative meds. I think all of these meds in my system, combined with the fact I err... Hadn't had a bowel movement since sunday night - made me feel like I was literally hung over.

I'm going to run to walmart and pick up some anti constipation stuff that i've read about in previous posts.

I think I really need to get this "crap" out of me, and I'll feel so much better. Also, the gas pain I'm feeling isn't in my should area, but right in the middle of my chest. I spent 3 hrs last night leaning over the bathroom sink, with my head on the faucet producing wimpy burps. (I paint a lovely picture don't I?)

Anyways, just thought I'd keep you posted. Not sure if this is entirely normal post-op behaviour, but I'm the lucky one to experience it.

As for the pain - I have really none. Only my port site is a lil tender, and I have to remind myself I can't bend down to grab things right now as I used to so easily. But the incisions look good -- oh .. and I'm definitely a bruiser. **laugh.. My tummy is more black and blue than skin color.

I'll end the descriptive story here :)

    Thanks again,

  3. I think Dawnie must have been right -- when I wrote that message I actually... didn't think i wrote that... Hmmm.. 1 tequila and 2 tequila drugs should have a waiver not to use the net, or cal Dawnie while under the influences.

He he... So all 9? of us were pretty groggy today. We went to revolution ave again today, where im aparently a really good bargainer! (drug side affect)

I slept for a few hrs, and have now decided to start taking those Gas X strips.. i have having painful burps and hiccups even. Arghh-- air!

Anyways.. sorry for to Heidi and Dawnie who had to put up with my loop stories. I promise to call you again once of these days when I'm not flying so hi.

    xoxoxo

    love you all :)

ps.. sorry bill, no pics of "paper" thong :P

  4. UPDATE:

I'm all good now :) I was the first to go into the surgery, I'm not sure how that worked -- but no arguments from me :)

All went really well -- I told them that I had a history of being pukey after anthestheic.. and so far -- so good! The took good care of me..

Boy is it hard to type when you 're still a loopy.

    LOts of Errors.

    xoxoxoxo

Thank you all for your support!

ps... Pam is going well too :)

  5. Julie (happygirl02) and I were walking on Revolution Ave yesterday, and decided we should make a list of all the saying we loved in mexico that we heard in those 2 hrs. Feel free to add yours too:

    1. Give me just 1 mexican minute

    2. Oh, you're breaking my mexican heart

    3. Come into my store, and buy something you don't need. (I think he needs new translation)

    4. Wanna buy some junk?

    5. I'll give you a deal, it's almost free...

**smiling, I'll keep adding to the list if I remember more, or hear more :)

  6. I'm in Tijuana now, gearing myself up for the 7:15am pick up by Ernesto. I get my tests / bloodwork done in the morning, and go from there :)

I just want to thank all of you guys for being so encouraging and positive the past few weeks.

It's because of that I'm not a nervous wreck right now. I'm here by myself, but I don't feel like I am because I have so many good friends that I've met through here (Heidi, Dawnie, Denise, and of course Bill :) )

Honestly -- thank you all! I'll be sure to keep you posted on the action :)

ps... I love the zebra donkeys!!! :)

  7. i see that you are a fellow canadian! are you returning to mexico for your fill or have you found a surgeon near you? i go for my surgery in tijuana on friday but have yet to find anyone here in winnipeg who is willing to perform a fill on a "mexico patient". yikes.

Hi happy girl -- I was in the same boat. The closest is Minneapolis. You're right, Maples won't touch Mexico banded people :)

    I get banded next monday!

  8. My band date is 7/21 and I will be a basket case before then. Everyone keeps asking if I'm scared to do it...I tell them my only fear is they will find something wrong with me I didn't know about and not do the surgery. Lap band is my last hope for getting the weight off for good and and taking the load off my feet and knees. Without it I will be using a scooter in a few years to get around.

Hey bubs, I'll be there with on you the 21st! I know that concern is also at the back of my head too -- and i'm sure nearly everyone else's at one time. 9 more days to go!!! :)

    Shannon

  9. Sorry to hear about your predicament. Just wanted to say that I feel your pain -- I'm in the same boat.

My surgery is scheduled for the 21st. I've been trying to organize where I'll get my fills when that time comes, because a flight to san diego from where I live is about $680 after a 4/5 hr drive to an airport.

I've found some fill places in the Minneapolis area that will take me (some won't even say anything once I tell them I'm intending to have surgery in Mexico) -- but none seem to offer fluro.

I would be more comfortable and willing to pay extra for the fluro -- but not at the price of $1000 more if I went back to the OCC.

Good luck in your search, I'm crossing my fingers for you!

    Shannon :)

  10. Hi -- So - I'm set for banding in TJ on July 21st... and I'm looking ahead into, now that I have this bad, how am I going to get this filled?

The closest place to me, is Minneapolis area I imagine. (I live in Ontario, right on the MN border, so it's only a 5hr drive to Minneapolis)

So I talked to a nurse today at the University of Minnesota Clinic, and says lap band fills are around $300, not including this "Upper GI" test she mentioned, which she didn't know the price of.

I asked if their clinic used fluoroscopy, and she said only if they run into difficulties.

Should I keep looking around for different clinics with better prices? What do you guys think? Is this rate about average?

    Thanks!

**thinking... Hmm.. a weekend trip to Las Vegas is a lil more than that -- I should get it done there... *laugh.
