I will be there getting a fill on the 26th and my friend is having her surgery on the 26th. We are traveling together. Is anyone else there during this time? If so where are you staying at? Hope

I will be at the OCC on March 26th. I have a friend that has decided to get the band and I am coming with her. While I am there, I am going to get my third fill. Anyone else there at that time? We fly in on Thursday, March 26th and leave on Saturday, March 28th.

I use Dr. Shimer in Lake Charles. He is located in The Clinic across the street from St. Patrick's Hospital. There are several of the employees that I work with that have gone to Mexico and all of them use him for their fills. It is 178.80 for a blind fill. I don't know what the cost is for one with fleuro. There is an initial $260(?) fee. He is great.

I am from DeRidder, Louisiana. Where in central Louisiana are you located.

I weighed this morning and finally made it into the 100's. I got on the scale and it said 198!

What kind of protein shakes did you drink every morning and what kind of proteins did you eat for dinner and supper? I am following almost the same kind of diet, but with carbs. Maybe I need to cut out the carbs.

I was able to eat bread until I got my second fill. Now I can't eat any, not even toasted. It gets stuck bad. Hope

I was able to get it financed through one of the credit agencies that is listed on the OCC website. I had to pay the inital $500 deposit, but now I make monthly notes for the next 3 years. Because my insurance does not cover it, I can claim the monies spent for my surgery on my taxes. So I will use my tax refund to make a larger payment to get it paid off quicker. Hope this helps. We have fared well here in DeRidder, LA. It actually skirted around us and we got a little rain and wind, but nothing serious. I have 8 family members here that are from Morgan City, LA and there homes didn't fare so well. We still have family in Houma we have not heard from.

It is like that over here in DeRidder, LA. I am about 45 miles north of Lake Charles and we got hit by Hurricane Rita. Everyone here is panicking. There was no water left at Walmart this evening and every gas station is full.

Hey Julie. What are you eating to get your protein in? I am not getting enough and need to figure out how to get it increased.

Hi Herb. I also had a hiatal hernia repaired at the time my band was done and I didn't have much pain at all. I was up the next day and went shopping on Revolution Ave. I didn't even have to take the pain meds they gave me. Tylenol worked fine. You should probably call your doctor. Where were you banded at? Was it done by Dr. Ortiz?

Hi Misty. I just seen your post and realized that you live very close to me. I live in DeRidder, LA. It is a small world.

I am 8 days post-op and the glue that was placed on my incisions are coming off. Did anyone else have this problem? The one that is just under my bra band has come off completely. I put some antibiotic ointment on it and covered it with a bandaid. How soon did your glue come off your incisions? Thanks for any feedback.

Hi everyone. First of all, I would like to thank everyone for their support on this forum. All of my fears and doubts were extinguished by reading the experiences of everyone else. Thank you all for helping me make the decision to have this surgery at the OCC. I arrived on Thursday, 7/24/08 around 9:30am starving to death because I had fasted for all of my pre-op. I was also looking forward to a great meal before my surgery on Friday. That didn't happen, however, I did lose 8lbs on the pre-op diet. I went in to see Dr. Miranda and she informed me that there was an opening and asked if I wanted to go ahead and get my surgery done on Thursday. (nothing like pulling a bandaid off fast) I agreed because it did not give me time to sit and stress myself out Thursday night. The clinic was very nice and clean. The staff was great. They were very attentive and checking on you before you could begin to think you needed anything. I started feeling a little nauseated that night, but they immediately gave me something in my IV and took care of that. I was brought back to the Lucerna on Friday morning after my zoom whitening and the hotel staff was great. We went walking on Revolution Ave and hung around the hotel a bit. I have had a little bit of gas pains in my shoulder, but nothing to really complain about. It is definitely not what I expected. I was expecting a whole lot more pain. It just feels like I have done too many sit-ups. Again thanks for all the support and answers to my questions.

Well, I got in to the clinic this morning around 9:30 for my pre-op and they ended up having an opening and was banded today. Not doing to bad. Little tired, but otherwise very tolerable. I will write more soon.
