  1. Hi Paula, You are doing so good. I know that good restriction feels like the cherry on top!!! I am cheering for you!!!
  2. Hi Lisal, What kind of nausea meds do you keep around? I brought a bottle of emetrol to work with me. But is there something better? I s there a prescription type? Thanks.
  3. Hey at least you don't think I am crazy, like the doctors do........ right? That kind of makes sense though. Someone told me that blood pressure can up during TOM because of volume increase.
  4. Hi all, Ok, I may be putting the cart before the horse here. But I want to be proactive. I went to get my 2 year up this morning and he was covered in puke. Sleeping soundly. That was a little scary too. But he is fine. Playing on his Thomas Train already. But now, I am scared that he had a virus. I slept with him on the couch until about midnight last night. Then I cleaned up the mess this morning. So I know I have had exposure. I feel queasy already, but that could just be from smelling and cleaning up the mess. How do I keep from throwing up? I am only 2 weeks post op. It really scares me that I could get sick this early on.
  5. Ok this off topic. But since there is a good grouping of girls on this forum, I was hoping that someone has heard of this. For several months now, every time TOM comes, I get a nose bleed for a day or two. I have high blood pressure. And can be either low or high when this happens. I am not sure there is correlation with my blood pressure and nose bleed. I have asked 2 different doctors and they look at me like I am crazy. But I have been keeping a dairy of weird things like this. In addition to the nose bleed, I usually have a sore throat and sinus infection with TOM. But this month I only got the nose bleed.
  6. Hi all, I was banded on 8/1. On my postop diet I am not allowed any mushy food or real food for 21 days. If I can't drink it, don't put in my mouth for 21 days. With the exception of medications. I have heard other bandees talk of the 1 week of mushy food. What week was that? Just wondering why it changed or did it change. Am i just confused.
  7. Hi, I am struggling with you!! I was banded on Aug. 1. And it is getting harder everyday. I am trying so hard to stick to it. I end up not eating all day, but once I start I am ravenous. And I am so low on energy. I have a 210 calorie shake & 80 calorie DanActive yogurt for breakfast. Then some sort of broth depending on what they serve in our cafeteria. So far that as been pretty brainless for me. I like easy. But when I get home, I am in trouble. I take about 4 pill in am & pm. To get those to stay down, I feel like have to eat something. I have gummed so canned pasta just praying it will be ok. But if I don't my stomach burns so bad I think I am gonna puke.... For the first week Mylanta worked to keep this at bay. But the past few days have been hell on my tummy. I hate to grip and complain....... I know everyone has trials and tribulations. I get a little freaked out that the medicine is going to hurt my band or mushing the pasta. It was really, really mushy pasta...... scary. I have talked to Dr. Miranda about this pain after taking my medicine, but we really have not come up with a good fix. Anyway, I will keep looking on the forum for the tricks to keep going........... It has really helped me through the hurdles so far. We can do this!!!! I know we can.
  8. Michelle, that is so awesome. I know you just want to jump & down and squeal like 15 year old!!
  9. I have been successful in the past with low carb. over the past 3 or 4 years, I just had 0 will power to do it. I think once I hit my 21 day post-op, I am going to attempt 20 carbs a day. At least until I get my first fill...... I am so worried about those 3 weeks without band help..... And I am starving now.................... I would love a big ole piece of protein!!! Best of luck with the low carbs. I always used the ketosis strips to see if I was hitting the mark.
  10. That is amazing!!! So happy for you. You look so small in picture. You must be losing inches like crazy. Post pictures in your size 12!!! Just think.....size 8 is just around the corner. WOW!!!
  11. Hi, I called and got the info. The roswell office uses floru. The first visit is $585. All other visits are $285.
  12. Julie, That is wonderful!!! We are getting all getting so healthy, so fast!!! It is amazing how much we struggle before surgery to handle our diabetes and blood pressure. My blood sugar has been a little crazy since the surgery. I hoping that it will get back to normal asap. It has been from 130 - 157 almost everyday. I don't take any meds for it.
  13. I had my surgery on 8/1. In the surgery report, he did stitch my band in place. Maybe he makes the call during surgery.
  14. HI, I have been lurking on this site for about 6 weeks now. I found all of your posts very supportive and informative. The world takes all kinds is what my mom always told me. Too bad everyone doesn't understand that. Just because something does not work for them, it may be useful to others. I appreciate anyone who is willing to step up and share their experiences with total strangers. This forum has been so helpful for to that their are real people out there thinking and feeling the same way I do. I was shocked at the postings yesterday. Don't change a thing.... Stay true to yourself and your heart. Amy
  15. I feel so moody. From 1 minute the next my mood changes. Did you experience this after banding?
  16. Hi All, I am 9 days post op. I am on 3 different blood pressure medication all at their highest doses. My blood pressure has fallen to as low as 98/50 over the past few days. But is staying around 110/70. So I get to cut 1 of my medications in half!!!!! I can't believe it!!! I can't wait to ditch all of it.
  17. Hi!!! Paula you are doing great. It is awesome that you added a water workout. I can't wait for my post-op to be over. I am going to get on the exercise train too!!! Amy
  18. HI Stacy, I was banded 3 days after you. It is a struggle. I have worried so much about much liquids I consumed. I was SO hungry the first week. Today, I am struggling to eat. I love that and hope it stays. My blood pressure medication filled me up this morning...... But I am one those that sabotage myself with food. I use food for everything except nourishment. I get mad at my husband, I eat. then I feel worse. I decided that I have to control this. And I have to find the power inside to do what is right for me. I want to live and I want to be happy. Sabotage only depresses me. We can do this for ourselves. There is something inside that is an addiction. We took a huge step to control this. Lets support each other to make it through this. I will think about you and your struggle before I sabotage myself. And I think this will help me pause long enough to save myself. Can you think of some trick to help you stop just for a moment to get control? I hope you can find strength inside to work through this in your head. Just pause....save yourself. We will feel so good afterwards if we can make this the new habit. This is minute by minute change we have to make in our heads. It is terrible that your husband would not stop you from eating the wrong things. But you can do this. Just pause.... and make a happy choice. I told my husband before my surgery that for 3 weeks I am not cooking & I am not going to a restaurant. I warned him to not even bring it up or face my wrath. I went to store and bought him 21 frozen meals. And came up with 21 days worth of meals for my 2 year old. Plus he goes to daycare.... The 3 weeks before surgery, I cooked for them both so I would not feel guilty during my recovery. Usually, my husband and I take turns figuring out dinner. My husband could stand to lose about 50 pounds. So he may benefit too. It may sound crazy, but I just keep repeating to myself... pause & think. A little bit of self brain washing. 14 days to go........ I am scared to death. Yet, SO excited...... Take care of yourself. This is your time. Amy
  19. Hi, First time in years, my weight is going down, down. I can't believe that every time I get on the scales I have lost a few ounces, if not pounds. However, on the shuttle to get my surgery, a lady told me that most people gain the weight back they lose on 21 liquid phase or at least half of yet. Is this true?
