  1. I am looking for any one who started with a similar build. I am 5'9 225lbs. Please let me know how long you have been banded, how much you have lost, what size band you have ect. Anything you can tell me will be helpful!!

    Thanks,

    JOY3

ME! I'm 5'10" weighed 245 at the beginning of July. Banded on July 29, had first fill on September 22. Have been consistently dropping since the fill and am thrilled to death with the results so far. Very small amount of hunger, and as the weight is coming off, it makes you even more excited to keep truckin'!!! You can see in my signature where I'm at n ow. It's been a great self esteem booster. I see the light at the end of the tunnel.

  2. I had my first fill yesterday at OCC and SSSSSSOOOOOOO GLAD I DID! The fill doctor discovered my port was tilted. I knew it hurt for a reason! If I hadn't done it at the OCC, who knows how many times they would have poked me to NEVER find my port! So now I am SOLD on the fact that you should always have it done with FLORO (or however it is spelled). And I'm also sold on having it done at the OCC. I mean really . . . . you saved a bundle having it done there, why not have all your care done there other than the inconvenience.

  3. I go in for my first fill on Monday. I can't say that I have restriction, but I definitely do not eat as much as I did, no snacking, and I have had a few things stuck. I haven't PB'd yet though. Last week was my "time of the month" and I was just certain that over the last 10 days I had gained at least 5 pounds. Turns out it was water retention and whatever because when I stepped on the scale I had actually lost a couple pounds from the last time I weighed! I was SSSOOOO happy! So yeah, I guess I do have "restriction" but I still feel like I can eat a fair amount. Not as much as before the band, but more than I probably should. I cannot wait until Monday though!

  4. I'm telling you people . . . .SMOOTH MOVE TEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is the best!!!!!!! One glass a day keeps me CLEANED OUT! Please! Try it and tell me you don't love it. I dare you!

PS - I just saw it at Vitamin World, which tells me that health food stores carry it. I also find it in my tea and coffee section at Save Mart, but that's the only grocery store I've been able to find it at.

  5. How far away do you live? The fill itself is nothing, but it is good to be within easy travel distance of the clinic the day afterwards in case you are too tight and have to go back for an unfill. We have driven over from Phoenix, gotten fills, then driven back home in one day. It isn't that likely that you will need an unfill after the first fill, so I don't see a problem.

THank you! THis is what I expected, but I wasn't sure. I think I'll use a stay fro the next fill, if needed.

  6. Really and honestly, is there any reason why I should stay in TJ overnight with my first fill? I kinda want to come home right after it's done. It's a 4-5 hour drive home. Anyone see any reason why I should stay? I mean if I'm too full I guess I could drive back down the next day if I had to but it seems as though everyone has at least 2-3 fills before the sweet spot kicks in. What do you think?

  7. OK, I've been fine up until last night and it is not going away. My port site feels like it is sticking out. I also feel like I have a bit of gas. I had my surgery almost 5 weeks ago, and never had this feeling except for once. I kinda thought I was in the clear, but now this dog hurts! I can barely get out of my car, sit up from a chair, etc. Anytime I make my stomach muscles work I wanna cringe! Is this a hernia? I took some tylenol and it didn't help a bit. Any ideas?

  8. COME ON STACY! You can totally do this! Wasn't it you who was in the waiting room with me telling me how awesome this is and how it has totally worked for people you know? You don't want to be the one that everyone wonders why it didn't work for you! BUCK UP GIRL!

OK, I'll be honest now . . .I came on this board ready to throw a pity party here too because I'm on the same day as you, but now that I've seen these replies . .. . NO WAY JOSE! YOU are going to do this. WE are going to be skinny minnies soon! COME ON LADY! DO IT! Don't foil! Persevere!

  9. You know what, just start it now. Your eating habits have to change so the longer you have to get used to it, I would go for it. And be sure to enjoy the chewing because once you have the surgery, there won't be any jaw exercises for 3 weeks! I totally MISS chewing food. I miss flavors. Actually, I just think I miss food right now, but not enough to eat it. Its so much fun to step on the scale and see a pound gone. I LOVE waking up in the monring to see where I am at each morning!

  10. Laadeedaa,

You crack me up! Green Acres airs at 10:30pm, so stay tuned!

    D

HA HA! And wanna know something even better, my friends and I will regularily belt out in song . .. . "GREEN ACRES is the place to be . . . "

  11. Please do not think ALL people from Texas are this way! I promise, I'm totally normal. Sometimes I get bothered by how people from Texas are perceived by others. We do not ALL have cows in our yards with farms out back!

Just wanted to clarify in case anyone thought otherwise!

    Denise

    Denise,

I have over 10,000 cows in my backyard AND LOVE EVERY MINUTE OF IT! Gives me a FABULOUS life! :) And trust me, when I smell that yucky smell in the air, you smell "poop" but I smell MONEY!

  12. I thought the only time we were supposed to have these type of drinks were immediately following the surgery. I didn't think we were supposed to have them while able to eat solids. Am I confused?

If you are looking for something yummy to drink while on liquids, I was excited to drink a Jamba Juice. Not the one that you have make for you but if you go to their store, they have prepackaged juices. They are just like the ones they make you, yet thinner in consistency. I found mine in the produce section of my grocery store. THEY ARE SOOO Yummy and I feel like I'm getting a treat.

    230 calories

    1g fat

    60mg sodium

    51 carbs

    3g protein

At this stage of the game, that is all fine and dandy with me. When I get on solids though, these will be a no-no except ONCE IN A BLUE MOON. Hey, trust me, they are better for you than having them make them fory ou because then all those numbers double!

  13. THanks for all of your answers. So the mystery period STOPPED. I think that is weird! OH well. Maybe that was it and I'll get a 40 day reprieve! WOuldn't that be delightful!!!!!!

    I FORGOT TO ASK ANOTHER QUESTION . . . .

Did anyone have a huge bruise on the right side of their lower abdomen? I've got the UGLIEST bruise you ever saw and I don't know when or how this developed but it showed up about 3 days post surgery and hasn't left.

  14. I love my bullet for shakes and such, but i REALLY LOVE my Vita-Mix! IT IS THE BOMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can make ANYTHING in that blender, including soups that come out BOILING HOT! It's so awesome! It's the same blender that Jamba Juice uses.
