Jude, I just got it and am starting today! I will let you know how it goes.
-
Sounds great Dianna! I am so looking forward to my 3rd fill tomorrow. It has been 2 months since my last fill and I haven't felt much restriction for weeks. The only thing thats been hard for me is eating early in the day, but at night time I feel I can eat just about anything. As long as its not bread.
-
It has been a good week for me, but I still haven't weighed (TOM). I plan to eat something today, and tomorrow start the challenge again. I have my 3rd fill tomorrow and will be on full liquids for a week following my fill. I feel great & I exercised twice this week with a trainer & walked and got on my elliptical here at the house the other days. I am definitely on board with the challenge & if anyone wants to start tomorrow for a week, let me know!

Oh Diana! I had a bite of a muffin too & was so miserable! No more!

losing friends, due to being banded!
BandDiva replied to CJen's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
I am totally SHOCKED! I can not believe people would be so SHALLOW! It tells A LOT about their character if they are not going to be your friend because they don't approve of something you chose to MEDICALLY improve your life! Not to mention the emotional happiness etc. we all feel from finally kicking the Fat. Everyone in my circle has been so supportive, at the same time before surgery I got with them told them & basically said I AM doing it and I don't give a crap what you think. (that is still my attitude) If you want to support me great, if you don't keep your trap shut. They have all been wonderful! I am so sorry that any of you have lost special people in your lives, but I believe like Lindsay said that more people will come into your lives. These people will accept you where you ARE!! ((BIG HUGS)) -
I have not gone back to the OCC for a fill. I have had all of mine here in Dallas. My Fill Dr. recommends 7 days on liquids. My first fill, I thought, I will follow the OCC rules since they did my surgery. I felt like crap when I started eating 3 days later. I couldnt eat anything, the restriction was major and the pain was rough. So, my second fill I decided to do the 7 days of liquids. I felt so much better when I started eating solids. You may need more days on liquids right after your fill & then definitely start slow on what you eat, very soft foods first. Good luck, hope you feel better soon!

Fitness/Exercise Questions!

Sounds like 2.6 is not enough. You need to find your sweet spot. You should eat and not be hungry for 3-4 hours. Just my opinion.

Fitness/Exercise Questions!

Fitness/Exercise Questions!
BandDiva replied to Lindsay's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Lindsay this is a lapband support forum, we all learn from each other as bandsters & help each other with our journey. But, I don't think ANY of us claim to know it all about Nutrition and Exercise. Obviously if you have gained 55lbs you also have issues with food etc, and could probably learn from other bandsters, if you are truly having surgery. Quite frankly, I think you should just spit it out what your goals are here, instead of being full of criticism. -
Cookies and Cream? Sounds yummy! What brand is it?

I totally could not function without the frozen meals or my protein shakes. MOST of the time, my band is so finicky that I choke on chicken, turkey etc. No matter how tiny I cut it. I find that the frozen meals are softer than the foods I can make & at times they are a necessity. I do not eat a frozen meal everyday, but they are at my house at ALL times. As for the shakes and protein bullets, we as band patients are required to get in 50-80 grams of protein a day. (depending on what your body requires) For me, if I don't get atleast 60 I have terrible headaches and dizzyness. So, when you put everything together...sometimes not being able to eat until 2 or 3 pm, the shakes and bullets are also a MUST in a bandsters life. Good luck on your upcoming surgery & I hope you understand now more of why we do what we do!
-
Lindsay are you a bandster? Some people have to factor in cost. I mean, we are in a recession & I don't see it changing anytime soon. Everytime I go grocery shoping for fresh food, half of it goes to waste & I spent a butt load of money. Hence the reason I will buy 5 for $10 on healthy choices or frozen veggies that I can microwave. I believe you must have carbs, protein, all of it & that counting calories and eating less sugar is the way to go. Anyway, there are millions of opinions on diets, but it comes down to, YOU know your body and what it needs. You also need to be exercising your butt off. I know that I need to start my day with a protein shake because I am too tight to get anything down. And by the way I have blood work every 6 months and my sodium and everything has always been normal.

You look fabulous gf! Such an inspiration! By the way, I don't see the need for boobies and a TT, but good luck with that! I am all for doing whatever makes you happy! Let us know how it goes! -

Robbyn! AWESOME! Glad I can be apart of your pre-op journey! WOOHOO! We can do this! ((BIG HUGS)) I live in Dallas! Have a great time!
-
Hey Carrie, Full Liquids! So far today I have had My Protein Shake for Breakfast, lots of water, Beef Broth & For Dinner I think I will have low sodium Cream of Chicken. When I get hungry, I am going to make broth. I am limiting my self to 1 small can of soup a day. But, everyone needs to do what they feel they can do! Really no set rules! Just set your program and comitt to it! ((BIG HUGS))
-
Carrie, Hang in there girl! You are doing everything right and eventually your body will catch up! I have been on a plateau now for 6 weeks. Just remember how far you have come, and it won't be long before you will be dropping again! XOXO
-
I totally agree with Mona, in that anything that is a shock to your system to change things up is good. I have been stuck for 6 weeks & prior to that I was on a ROLL! When I was on the 3 weeks of liquids after surgery, I did great & never gained any of that weight loss. Right now, I feel I am so new as a Bandster in learning how to eat. Some days I am so tight I can't eat, and other days I eat like a horse. lol So, I wonder if I have irritated my band. I just thought this would be good. I go for a fill one week from today and I am hoping to be down. Good luck everyone! Here is to shedding some pounds this week!!
-
Sounds great, Carrie! Also, I heard from one that she is going to do a small meal in the evening. Like our Pre-Op diet. So, for those of you who are not up for Full Liquids, how about that? GOOD LUCK!!
-
As some of you know I have been STUCK for about 6 weeks. Me and some friends are starting full liquids today to see if we can boost our weight loss again. We are going to cut out snacks, increase water, and exercise atleast 30 minutes a day. Anyone up for the CHALLENGE? Come on, join us!

Ate too much this weekend!
BandDiva replied to CindyLou's topic in Gastric Band Support & Discussion
Hey Cindy, My restriction has been very strange. I have days like you describe and then days where I can hardly eat anything. So, I scheduled a fill for Monday. I think overall I am eating too much too. Weird thing, some days I can't eat till 2:00 or 3:00 because I am so tight. So, when I sit down to dinner I feel like my dinner is just huge. For instance, I could eat Half a taco salad no problem! Or half a steak with veggies. That is a lot of food compared to how tight I was right after my fill. So, I would say yours has loosened up. It doesn't mean it has stretched necessarily. I would give it some time and see how you eat the next few days, if you are able to eat like you did this weekend, I would get a fill scheduled right away. I haven't lost weight in 6 weeks and in fact it has been going up and down 3 lbs. Very frustrating!
