  1. If your daily consumption is only 300 calories your body will go into stavation mode. It thinks that you are not going to feed it and it actually stores what you consume instead of burning it. I would definately bump up your intake as mentioned by others....Good Luck!

  2. I would reccomend switching up your exercise routine if you are walking you may want to try an elliptical etc. If your body gets used to the same routine it knows what to expect. If you change up your exercise it will be confused and be forced out of the plateau. And, as others have recommended, if you can fit in a few more mins. a day that may also do the trick.

Good Luck and keep us posted, this too shall pass. You are doing great, and are truely an inspiration to me.

    Take Care

Congrats!! You'll do great, the staff is awesome. Be positive and it will literally be a breeze!! Walk, Walk, Walk to get rid of the gas from surgery. My twin sister and I were banded on 10/24 and are going to OCC on 12/6 for our first fill, we may get to meet you if you are there in the morning! Good Luck and God Bless!

  4. Welll today was my first day on solids and it was not so pleasant. Woke up this morning with an upset stomach....got the stomach flu from my little girl. I tried to eat a little chicken at lunch and that was horrifying! Did not chew good enough and sure enough it was stuck in my chest, so I walked it out and called the chicken quits. Anyway, for dinner I was back to brothy wonton soup (so GOOD)! On the day I wanted to celebrate with a nice solid meal....and I am still eatiing soup...hahaha! I am feeling better now and I am sure tomorrow will be a better day. One thing I am scared of is stretching my pouch....it's like you have to learn to eat all over again. What if the food gets stuck will that stretch me out?? Looking for feedback, how often has this happened to any of you? I am worried that I stretched it with the Chicken.

  5. Oh yes Lisa, I do feel full. I do have some restriction but I am driven and strict on myself too. I literally have 3/4 cup or less of good food choices per meal. Yes, I weigh my food after they are cooked. My measuring cups have never been used so much as they do now! LOL

You see, I 'imagine' I have a fill already...so I tell myself I only have so much room to eat and I better choose the right food to make me food the longest. So far, I don't have the hunger quest that everyone is talking about before their first fill...BUT, I do continue to take those chewable Fiber Choice and the Benefiber EVERY day. They help curb my appetite and my rotor rooter problem.

Great advice...I will do the same. I was at a social event on the weekend and could not eat and they had all kinds of food. But, I was amazed at others' plates, they were piled high. And I thought to myself...that was me a month ago. I can certainly say, I will never pile food on a plate like that ever again, thanks to the band. I am going to try the 3/4 of a cup for the time before my fill. Thanks again for sharing.

  6. Hi Lisa,

I was anxious for my first day of solid foods, like all of us are, but was so nervous because I wanted to make sure I eat the right things.

Like Rod and Cathy said, this is the time to start learning the proper way of eating, and choosing you food carefully. You want to progress yourself. I started out with an egg omelet with bacon and cheese (and I still do have that once a day - good source of proteins). For lunch, I had chicken that was moist (just baked chicken in the oven and half way through, used foil on top of the chicken to retain moisture). For dinner, I had steak and beans.

You can basically have anything you want in moderation, of course. Just remember to get in your proteins and keep your calories between 1200 to 1500.

CHEW, CHEW, CHEW...I can't stress this enough, because when you start getting your fills, I am hearing that you need to take tiny bites and chew the dickens out of them to have a pleasant, successful meal. I've been on solids for two weeks and it's a good thing for me now.

Thanks Jazzy. Do you have any restriction before the first fill? Do you feel full sooner?

  7. Just two more days to go!! Whoo hoo!!!

I suggest you start with easy foods, mashed potatoes, fish, chili, maybe a fajita or quesadita...small bites, chew well and you will find out soon enough if you have post op restriction.

Take it easy, don't go nuts with chicken or beef.

    Enjoy!!

Thanks for the help....I will go ahead with soft foods at first. Thanks Again~

  8. [hI, I was trying to find someone from Washington that was going to have this done,,,,,,what made you decide on going to Mexico?? My insurance will not pay, so I am also considering going in January.......I am just so scared,,,,,,you sound young, and I feel so old.......at 53

The cost is what helped me to decide and the fact that Dr. Ortix has done over 6000 surgeries more than any Dr. in the US.

  9. Oh my goodness...today was my first day back to work post-op. I had to meet with my boss and a couple of co-workers. I have decided that I am not going to tell them about my lapband surgery as a personal choice. The morning starts with muffins from Corner Bakery, I am fine, no temptation at all. I sip my water and all is well. We work through the day developing a training program for our staff and now it's lunch time. My boss decides to order lunch for everyone from Carl's Jr. (fast food), she passes the pad around for us to place our order and I order a large iced tea. All of a sudden I am bombarded with pressure from every side trying to convince me that I HAVE to EAT. I tell them my stomach is upset and I have no appetite. I wanted to scream "leave me alone"!

Here's my dilema, tomorrow will be a repeat of today and do not know what to say. Any suggestions?????

  10. What an inspiration! Your story is very similar to mine. I was just banded on 10/24 and am so excited to begin the journey. I weighed 230 on the date of surgery and look forward to the weight loss. I also have two young girls ages 5 and 3. Thanks for your story, stories like yours keeps us newbies hopeful and expectant of the future! You look wonderful, keep up the good work...you are an inspiration to many!

  11. So i'm making my grocery list for tomorrow and I want to make sure i'm buying the right stuff. Sorry if this has already been posted - I looked up to a few months back and couldn't find anything. Here is what is on my list to buy to have when I get back. If I should add or delete anything please let me know. I feel pretty solid about what I can eat days 8 on, but the first 7 are still fuzzy. I'll need to mix it up as much as I can or i'll go nuts!

    Thanks in advance!!

    Shopping List

    Gas X strips

    Ramen Noodles

Special K20 Protein Water packs and bottles

    Sugar free popsicles

    Apple juice

Question: Are protein shakes OK during the first 7 days? If so i'll add them to my list.

Already got my liquid vitamins so i'm good there. I'm also going to get a heating pad - I remember someone mentioning that.

Oh my goodness...I can't believe that Friday is only 4 days away!!! I am so excited that out banding date is HERE! I need to go shopping too for my post-op clear liquids...for those of you in So. Calif. I purchased the Special K Protein Water at Albertson's and I hear that Wal-Mart carries it too!!
