  1. I was banded 2 years ago this month. I had my 4th fill this past Monday. I can eat solid food but my problem comes at night when I go to bed. I have burping and influx that makes me get up to throw up. I have never had these symptoms before. The worst part is I was up all last night coughing. I tried sleeping in a recliner so that I was propped up but I still coughed and this morning my throat is sore. I can get my coffee down this morning and the coughing stopped. Help please as I need some sleep !!

  2. I am now 8 days post surgery and have not lost any weight. I started soup stage yesterday because of an outing and lunch at a resturant. Have stuck to creamy soups, liquid yorgurt and water, not much juice but now I have gained a lb. Have done plenty of walking but I am in the house 2 times a week watching my new grandbaby and by the time she leaves it's already to dark to walk. I live about 45 miles from the nearest gym so that's not an option. Should I be lossing weight....I noticed others have in this liquid phase.

  3. Good morning! I live in Portland, OR and have used Dr. Kelly Fitzpatrick 2x for blind fills. blind vs: fluroscopy is a subject that is brought up often here on the forum. You will get responses on the pro's and cons for both. Most important, for me, is that I have someone local that I can use and return to in case the fill I get is to much and I need an unfill OR if for some reason I just need to talk to someone who is near to my home. I love Dr. Kelly! She has given me 2 fills and 1 slight unfill, each time she has hit the port on the first try and I've never had any pain.

After surgery I felt I needed to return to Dr. Ortiz for my first fill because i watned to make sure everything was "fine" and that I didn't stretch my pouch etc... I felt I really needed fluro my first time but, for me, I've been 100% satisfied with a blind fill since. It's been said, and I agree, that it's good to get fluro once a year just to check and make sure everything is "ok". I hope this helps. There are a lot of P=towners on this forum so you will get some good feedback.

Congrats on getting banded and welcome to the forum. WE are all always here for you.

Thanks for the info. I have heard of Dr. Kelly and have family in Hood River so this would be an easy trip for me. Thanks again.

  4. I am contemplating going back to TJ for fill but since the 6-8 weeks is during the holidays (family is coming in) I am hestitating making the trip. My confusion is due to a conversation I had with Dr. Ortiz. We have a firend who was banded 8/2007 and has had 5 fills. Dr. Ortiz says that men usually only need 1 maybe 2 fills. I don't want to have fills or unfills that I don't need but on the other hand I also don't want to travel to TJ if I don't have to. I have heard of 2 great doctors in my somewhat near area and would rather go that way if possible. What do you think ? I was banded on 10/29 and doing pretty good but am confused about the fill issue.

  5. Hi there, you can do it...4 lbs is not unattainable...drink more water, step up the exercise and cut out any diet cola.

I was not banded at the OCC, so I am not sure whether surgery can be cancelled if you don't lose the last 4 lbs..I have never seen it. Try not to stress out about it and focus on the goal!!

Good Luck with the weight loss and your surgery!

Thanks for your advice. I notice on other posts how supportive you are to others. I appreciate that as I'm sure others do as well.

  6. My surgery is scheduled for Oct. 29 th and I have been reading the forum and came across the recommendation of taking papaya enzymes. What are they and what do they do. Needless to say I am concerned about this complete life altering change (but an ready for it). Concerned that PB and sliming will get in the way of normal life. Any suggestions or support would be nice.
