  1. I like stacker 2 protein water. Its drinkable -- the flavor leaves A LOT to be desired, but the protein is worth it. They are in a refrigerated case and there are usually a lot of options. My advice is to start with one of each flavor/kind and try them, find out what one you like best. You'll find the more protein you can get into your body the better you will feel. :-) My favorite is the Pink Lemonade.

The one that Greg recommends (Isopure) is the one that everyone I know raves about.

    Good luck!

  2. If you watch television at all, it is hard to miss the Nutri System commercials. In a nutshell, you get 4 weeks of breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks, that are supposed to be nutritionally balanced, yet are portion controlled enough to lose weight. You also get an extra week "free", and the price is just under $300. This calculates down to about $8.50 per day, which seems pretty reasonable, as I spend more than that currently for my food.

Being single, and cooking only for myself, the price seems very attractive. The portion control, and balance of nutrients also looks quite appealing. And being banded, it appears to me that the quantity of food per meal is more than adequate to not be hungry.

I have a gastric bypass friend that uses Jenny Craig food for convenience, balance, and portion control, but her food costs about $15 -$18 per day, and the meals look very tiny.

I was just wondering if anyone else on this forum has used the program before, or considered it. I also wonder if the food actually tastes good. Any positive or negative input is appreciated.

They are a great company, and their food is good and good for you. The meals are portion controlled but one thing I noticed is that many of their meals wouldn

  3. So I'm still having trouble not drinking during eating. I do it all the time. I've been really bad with my band though. I don't make it to my doctor as often as I should and I eat way too much as a result of not being filled enough and drinking while I eat.

I find the only foods I can really tolerate (of what I eat, I'm unbelievably picky. I don't eat a single veggie, phychologically I just can't do it. Any advice on this would help too) are pastas that are really cooked, rare ground beef, soups, cereal, bagels, some chicken , bannannas, celementines, chili, and a couple of other things that are slipping my mind.

I don't drink much other than water (occasionaly lemonade, coffee, milk or the occasional cocktail) with meals, but I find if I don't drink, no matter what I'm eating other soup) even the first bite always gets stuck. I don't know if that feeling where a bite sits for a minute and then kind of powers through from me taking deep breaths (seems to expand my stomach and let the food pass) is normal or not. I never really even knew that we weren't supposed to drink with meals.

Anyhow I go to my doctor on thursday. He's kind of an intimidating foreign guy and I'm really scared he'll yell at me, but I know its for my own good.

All these things considered, I've still lost 110 lbs in the two years. I feel like I could've lost more though if I was doing things right.

    Hello,

I generally take time to drink before dinner so I don

  4. Hi, Everybody -

I'm scheduled for surgery with Dr. Ortiz on January 26th. I'm curious to know from those of you that are on solid foods post-op, what do you have trouble eating? I've read that steak and rice are tough to deal with, but have you had problems with any other foods? I'm just trying to prepare myself ahead of time.

    Thanks!

  5. I KNOW if i get banded I am going to miss this! But it is a habit that needs to be given up.

And I know if I get banded I'm going to be not thinking about it and take a huge bite and totally regret it lol... but I'll learn.. if I get banded...

I was banded on 10/6/06 and I thought I was going to miss my favorite foods. I don't - it amazing the will power you have when you don't have that hunger. Also since you are better able to control your eating, you're not eating for emotional reasons. (Which I did a lot) To date I've lost almost 50 lb, and there's nothing I miss. When I was banded I was wearing a 3X, I'm now in a 16 and 14s are doable. I started working out with a personal trainer after 6 weeks. I can't tell you how fun it is to try on cute clothes, they fit and actually look great. I feel sexy and pretty, and none of my favorite foods ever made me feel that way. Going to Dr. O to be banded was one of the best decision's I've ever made.
