  1. Yeah, esp lime jello that sat up for a couple ofdays! The next day, the bowl that I made it in still had jello adhered to the sides, and I had to scrub it off! That can't be good for your insides when they're delicate. It took about a day and a half to get over it.
  2. All, I had some rather hard lime jello last night at about 9. I've had burning and a feeling that something is kindof stuck in the back of my throat since. My doc is a good 8 hr drive away, which makes it hard to see him. I'll call today. Walking or being upright help, and sips of cold water feel good. Is there something about a 2 week period after surgery? Maybe things are starting to be normal size now? Feeling coming back? It is uncomfortable and burns, but I'm not sure if I can take a pill (I can crush it) or what kind to take. Maalox maybe? I did nothing special, 5pm I pureed a can of organic vegetable soup, tomato based, which I have had in the last 2 weeks. It was hours after when things started to hurt anyway. Thanks.
  3. Hey, I had the surgery on Oct 10. Today is the 24th. Here's my experience so far. I have no appetite, and food doesn't bother me at all. I'm on mushy foods, and have found some wonderful soups. I don't miss other foods in the least, and I can go out with friends and have soup and whatever they have doesn't bother me a bit! That may change in a bit as I heal, I think. Protein is a pain to find. Sugar substitutes give me headaches. But I've found some good protein drinks, but rather high calorie protein drinks. The things I wonder about are the fatigue and sometimes lightheadedness/dizziness. Some evenings I have a slight headache. I realize I'm on a lower calorie regimen these days, and some days it is really low. With no appetite, I have to force myself to eat. And I know all about dehydration and I am drinking water. It feels like sometimes I'm dehydrated. (do a dyhydration test by pulling up a bit of skin on the back of your hand, on the knuckle. A dehydrated person will have skin that stays pulled up, or doesn't snap back to flat very fast). The first 10 days or so, once in a while I'd run a 99.2 temp, usually after a soup meal. I have no sense of restriction at all. But so far it is all mushy, and I do drink water with foods for now, to heal and get nutrition. I am also having some weird mood swings. I'll break into tears for no real reason, then I'm fine. I took a couple of extra days to rest and I feel better now. The counselor thinks it is rather normal for what's going on nutritionally and in my life. I thought the nutrition side effects needed to be taken care of, so I started eating more, and now I'm back to my almost surgery day weight of 202. I'm at about 199 or so. I may have been at about 195, but I'm not very sure (old scale). Could be water weight. If you have similar experiences, let me know. Seems fairly normal to me for the big metabolism changes going on.
  4. Pre-surgery, I tried doing a swish-swish of a little soda. Like gargling and swishing to take out carbonation. Seemed ok. Too early to test with band for me. I also like to "flatten" carbonated drinks for the next day. I am of the school that says a little bit of anything is ok. Just a little bit, though, to take the craving away.
  5. A friend who had gastric bypass said that a trick she and others learned is to take a teaspoon of f meat tenderizer disolvedin a bit of water helps to unstick foods that may get lodged. Anyone heard of this?
  6. I have surgery tape over my disolving stitches.... seems normal to me... The surgery was only 8 days ago. I did get to remove most of it tonight!
  7. Odd, I'm on day 8, and I've had babyfood, applesauce, watered down mashed potatoes with cheese broccoli, odwalla superfood, odwalla vanilla protein drink. The babyfood is great! I just make sure it is all mashed really, really well. The doc told me I could have anything that might go through a straw, but NOT to use a straw. I just water it down or puree it in a blender. I can't wait till I can remove my surgery tape!!
  8. How long did this incident last? Are you better now? Was it from not chewing? What is pbing? Sorry, I'm going to go down this road, I want to know all the bad stuff, too. Hope you're better!
  9. My surgery is scheduled for October 10th. Personally, I hope to have this done, eat less, eventually just forget about it and get on with my life, going back to the normal energy levels and do the active things I used to do. Of course, I'm gathering all the info I can get.... But does anyone ever accomplish this? Just doing it and forgetting it and not being a "banded" person? Thanks! oh, I'm going to be in Denver.
