  1. I wrote on here like a week ago about only being able to eat like three bites and getting stuck. So I was wondering if I was to tight, then somebody sugguested to take smaller bites and chew better. So I have tired this and I am still not able to eat more then three bites of anything. You would think that would be good but the fact is I havent even lost a pound. I am so confused on how to make this band work. I almost want to give up! Somebody tell me the secret. I have been living on protein shakes.

It may also depend on what you are eating. I have a list that I keep in my phone to remind me of what I am eating. Try eaing soup. I eat soup alot. Hopefully your band will loosen up. I also can eat cereal, bananas, oatmeal, fish, guac sometimes. Yogurt, pudding, DO NOT GIVE UP!! Get through it.

  2. Thanks for posting this question.

A few years ago i was diagnosed with anorexia, I lost 30 kilos in only 2 months, i also lost half of my hair.

2 years later I gained a lot of weight and became the way I am now, very obese.. So after a lot of debate i got the lapband.

Now ive only lost 2 or 3 kilos in 4 months! Not very happy as i thought the weight woud be coming off a lot faster, however I like you am losing hair. In GREAT HANDFULLS! AGAIN! Its so distressing, last time i saw a trichologyst about it and he reccomeded biotin as mentioned above, as well as herbal and organic shampoos etc which helped. Its good to know though that im not alone this time.

    Good luck x

I have also noticed quite a bit of hair falling out when I shampoo. I am positive it lack of protien. I was told unless I get 60grams a day it will fall out and it is. I am not getting that because I am eating sliders like chips. I am doing protien shakes tomorrow morning.

  3. I know exactly what you mean. I was wondering the same thing. But it is so hard to stop so soon. My counselor told me 30-45 min per meal and we shold eat about 1/3 of what you normally would. I am the fastest eater you have ever seen. I am trying to slow down. We need some advice from some veterens. I am only losing about a pound a week and to be honest I am not exercising.

I would like to lose 2 lbs per week and I know how to do it.

  4. My advice is to get a babysitter and go window shopping. Just go to the mall and try on clothes. That always motivates me. Also plan out exactly what you are going to eat. I am two months post op and I am yo yo dieting, a couple of lbs so my weight is way slower. If I would stay focused it would help. I have done WW alot so I am back to counting points. That way I know what I am eating. I have a sweet tooth so I plan for a little treat everynight. Also if I feel like I could eat more during dinner I don't because I know my treat will be soon. Write everything down you eat. Think of something to get back on track.

  5. Way to go!!! I am so happy for you. Enjoy the liquid phase it was actually easy. If you get bored we can all give you ideas to add little excitement. Now teo months post op seems to be the real learning part. Learning how to eat for the rest of my life.

We will see you in Frisco!!

  6. I went two years ago to get band and they said no. Two years later I gained 15 lbs and woke up on Sunday and saw a commercial on TV and called them Monday and was banded on Friday. I am very happy with my decision. It is alot of work still but I am not hungry.

  7. Funny you posted this. We went to dinner with some of our skinny friends and my friend and myself split something. We ordered an appetizer for the table first and she declined. What? Why would anyone turn down food that was right in front of you. Then she and I ate the exact same portion of food. I have the stomach the size of an egg and she is normal and we ate the same. She said she was full. A new woed for me, I am only 5 weeks banded so this learning to eat thing is a true learning experience for me. I still take one bite more than I should. But she is so cute and wears the cutest jeans. This is what normal is. I am starting to become normal. One more thing, I used to drink an incredible about of DC or tea or whatever. Now that I don't drink while I eat the waiter isn't runnung himself crazy trying to keep my glass full. That used to be so embarrassing. Even my husband said it grossed him out. Again, starting to become like all other normal people. Only about 3 sips out of glass before dinner.

  8. I was banded on March 20th and my BMI was consedered lower as well. I think I am severely obese instead of morbid. The liquid diet AFTER surgery was hardest for me. And I miss food and diet coke. I actually sometimes feel sad when I look at my plate and realize I can't eat another bite and have only eaten a tiny portion.

BUT, I love I have already gone down one pant size, I don't drink gallons of Diet coke anymore, I love that I don't sneak food anymore. I love that my 4 year old son told me today that I was skinny.

The way I look at it there are two lines: pros and cons. I had to pick which one I wanted to get in.

My husband also had to hide my scale because I was weighing twice a day.

I am starting to live bandster style and I really like it!!

    Good Luck!!

  9. You just summed up exactly how I feel. The head hunger is crazy. I made dinner last night and waited 20 minutes and still felt hungry. So I went back and it came back up. I know my full signal but my head argues. I am one month banded and will work on this as I did much better this morning. I am actually starting to like my band and know how awesome this gift is for me. Eating was huge for me, so finding other things to do is weird. Laundry is just about all caught up. I have to think like a skinny person.

  10. Good Luck Lori! Tell them to BATTON DOWN THE HATCHES! (hope I spelled that right  ) I understand how you feel about the diet coke. I drank WAY more than you each day. I almost had to go to rehab to quit. I had nausea, vomiting, etc....so good job on quitting. I feel better having quit than I have in years. You are already doing great. =D>

Ok First fill done and everything seems fine. Water was fine and now having a protien shake. I also remember that it may take until 2nd fill to get that sweet spot. I am OK, and hopefully will have success with this. He seemed very surprised on how much he put in. I have 6CC in 10CC band. So as of today I feel I am officially a member of the band!!

    Thanks,

    Lori

  11. Your symptoms sound quite serious and may or may not be band related. Go back to your doctor who diagnosed the sinus infection. Your infection may have come back or moved to another part of your body.

I heard the hair thinning is part of not getting enough protien. Also could be the poor circulation. Try to up your protien to 60 or 75 grams until you feel better. Just something I read.

  12. My surgen is Dr. Teng here in Las Vegas. He is a good surgen but has absolutely no bedside manner. He is very strict about eating and I can't have mushly things until week 3 and then it must be pureed. I have been "eating" broth and yogurt starting with my 2nd week. I am starting to get hungry more so I am ready for the mushy food of week 3. My calories right now are about 350 - 400 a day.

Are taking all of the vitamins now? They have me on 4 different ones and I am having trouble getting them all down. I am going to look for different brands to see if I can find some that taste better.

The only vitamin I take is Flintstones chewable vitamins and chewable calcium. I am not supposed to be on mushies till week 3 but i asked if I could have a scrambled egg and he said yes and maybe I could try some refried beans. I am going to wait until I really want it. And yes my caloric intake is the same. I think I must be excited because I would have never thought I could survive on such low calories. I was also an insane diet coke drinker. This may be the longest I have gone without DC sin 20 years. My Dr turned out to be very sweet. Most surgeons are not very friendly in the fact that they are always"getting down to business". Dr Ortiz seems so funny, also. hang in there!! I look forward to staying in touch with you so we can help each other out.
