  1. Thanks Jazzy Jude. I'm hoping that I'll do well with everything and surprisingly I don't have any doubts! I've thought about doing this for several months and found that once I decided, my fears disappeared. So thanks again.
  2. I take a LOT of supplements and am worried about having to stop them - especially the capsules. I figure you can cut pills in half (and I actually already have a pill splitter), but capsules are a different matter. I take about 25 capsules a day (i.e. Omega-3, Turmeric, Cayenne, CoEnzyme Q10, Green Tea etc.) and feel that they have helped me so I really don't want to discontinue them. Will I be able to swallow the larger capsules and if not, what do I do? I thought about emptying the capsules with powdered contents and taking them in some drink but wonder about the taste. Also, what do I do about the others - those with oil or liquid contents? I assume some of these can replaced with liquid forms but the cost of replacing what I have already bought might be prohibitive. Any suggestions?
  3. I just scheduled my surgery and as it's for the end of April, I also needed to get onto the pre-op diet. I hated all 3 choices so I called my contact at the OCC and asked her what was the goal of the diet - to eat the foods in one of the 3 options OR to lose the pre-op weight. She said it was to lose the weight. So I figured that the foods could be my personal choice. I happen to really like cottage cheese, yogurt, and eggs so I've been eating those with the addition of an enormous green salad or plate of vegetables at dinner. I've also added small amounts of oil or sugar as needed. For example, instead of a half cup of olive oil with my salad, I add 1 tablespoon. Anyway, why not pick your own personal "diet" favorites as well and use them as a base. I've started using some protein drinks also (mainly to increase my protein intake and reduce hunger) and as a suggestion the Spirutein brand is really good (I love the strawberry). Also, I use a blender to make the drink which produces a thick satisfying shake. I started this program three days ago and have already lost 8 pounds. Good Luck!
  4. Thanks for info. It sounds like I shouldn't have anything to worry about, but if there's anyone out there who has had a more difficult time, I'd really like to hear about this as well.
  5. Hi Folks I'm scheduled to have surgery on a Thursday and have only scheduled 2 days off from my job - expecting to return to work the following Monday. Now after reading several posts, I'm worried that I haven't given myself enough time to recover. My job is mostly sitting at a desk but it is in an open office without even partitions, so if gas is a problem :lb12: (sorry to be indelicate), this could be very embarrassing. Also is being pain free after a few days normal or not?. Finally, I take many supplements using capsules. Do you have any suggestions on how to handle this? Few of these are available as liquids? My surgery is scheduled in a couple of weeks, so I would greatly appreciate any advice you can give me.
