  1. I got banded yesterday at the Al Zuhair Medical Center in Kuwait. I just got home a few minutes ago. At about 5 hours post op I was able to get up and slowly walk around my room for a few minutes. My back and belly were sore. It wasn't a pain, but more of a discomfort. I was finally able to sip about a tablespoon of water at about 10 hours post op. I was soooooo thirsty. Then eventually I got down about half a cup of tea. Drinking tea with a spoon reminds of when I was a little girl having tea parties. I didn't get much sleep. I just couldn't get comfortable. Today, my back no longer hurts but my belly is still sore. I'm having trouble taking a deep breath and I have a tickle in my throat but it hurts to cough. The first thing I did when I got home was go straight to the kitchen and open the fridge. Old habits are hard to break. Surprisingly, I'm not feeling hungry. Maybe I am, but the discomfort outweighs the hunger. The nurses told me it was ok for me to sleep on my side, but when you're a fat chick your gut flops when you turn on your side and this made my stitches pull. So all in all after everyrthing is said and done, I'm happy. The discomfort will diminish, the stitches will go away and I am on the road to a healthier life. Woo Hoo!!!!
  2. I swear I could've written that myself. I told my husband that he doesn't have to understand WHY it's important to me, he just has to understand that it's important. My husband is one of those very fortunate people that gets sexier the older he gets. He'll never understand. I stopped trying to explain it to him and he stopped bitching about it. He went to my last consultation with me and was able to hear everything the doctor had to say. I think he feels a lot better about it now. In fact he may even be a little excited. He's never known me thin. The cost is definately hard to swallow right now, but I figure now is as good a time as any. So hang in there, do your research and hopefully your husband will come around. If not, well, it's easier to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission. And if it's so bad that he leaves you then at least you are on your way to sexy healthiness and you can find someone else. I hope it doesn't come to that though. It'll work out how it's supposed to.
  3. Thanks CanadianBandster. I read that they took fat and put it in your bum? Are you joking? That's awesome!!! Good luck with your recovery.
  4. I'm having my surgery on Sunday. I was told by a friend who has a band that she took a mild laxative the day before surgery to clean herself out. She said she never had any gas problems and she thinks the laxative may be why. Has anyone else done this or heard of this? Also, does anyone suggest taking a liquid multi vitamin or anything while I'm on the liquid diet? I want to keep as nourished as possible. Thanks-I'm soooo excited...
  5. Nope, can't handle a live in. Too many cooks in the kitchen. She only comes 5 days a week during the day.
  6. Hi!!! I'm new to the forum. I haven't had my surgery yet, it's scheduled for June 22. I'm excited, scared and everything in between. My doctor has been great at answering my questions. I've been reading the posts here for awhile and went in with a laundry list of questions for him. One of the things I was unclear about was when I can lift my daughter. She's 16 months old and weighs about 25 pounds. Thankfully, I'll have help the first three days, but my husband has to go back to work after that. Should I plan on a longer period of not being able to lift her? Also, for the first few days would I be more comfortable in loose fitting nightgowns and dresses? I imagine that a waistband wouldn't be comfy. Thanks!!
  7. Arianna, I also live in Kuwait and am interested in where you got your procedure done. I don't have my Lap Band yet. The Royal Hyatt Hospital said I have to fly to Dubai, but I really don't want to leave the country. Any info you could give me would be great! Congratulations on your progress!!!
