  1. Think i finally found something thats gonna work for me. Just joined weight watchers and combining that with excercise things are going in the right direction.Seems like i've lost about 10 pounds in the last 3 weeks. I joined the weight watchers online.Makes me accountable for what ieat. I can splurge a little but i have to keep it within the guidelines. If i know i'm going out to eat something more fattening i can go lite allday..This really seems to be working!!!!!!!!!!

Keep up the good 10 pounds in 3 weeks is great!!!

  2. I too just came back from vacation. I think you did phenomenal to only gain 3 lbs! I only gained maybe 1 lb if any, BUT that was only because my 3 yr. old daughter was burned and had to stay in a children's hospital (in Norfolk, VA) for 2 days. So we had to leave the beach and stay with her there while my parents and son stayed behind at the beach house. I basically had no or very little appetite while we were gone, and not much when we came back. I didn't get to drink hardly any because of the accident - so there when those calories I had planned on. lol But all is well now and it has barely affected her!

I am glad your daughter is ok hospital stays are scary as hell!

  3. Well one year ago today I was getting my band put in. I am so happy I did it. I have learned a lot in the past year about my eating habits and am still learning!!! I finally hit that 'sweet spot' that I have read so much about 10 days ago with my last fill. I have started to loss again :) I am looking forward to seeing what this next year will bring!

  4. Sorry if you thought my coment was a lecture because that was not what it was intended to be. I was given my 3 options by the OCC and I(they) picked one and followed it as was suggested. They reason they gave it to me and everyone else is because there is a good chance if you are having this done it is because of over eating and they are wanting to help you. And this is all I was wanting to do by suggesting you follow a diet that has worked for so many.

  5. I think if they tell you to do lean cuisine and shakes that is what you should be doing. This will be a total life style change and starting out switching up the meals during the first week will only make it hard for you in the long run. I found that the pre-op diet started to train me to make better choices and eat less. Just think how hard it is going to be going from your normal diet to broth. Good luck!!

  6. I'm now 4 days away from my first meal after the liquid phase, and am trying to decide what to eat. I'm leaning towards scrambled eggs.

What did you have for your first meal and would you recommend it?

I'm also going out to lunch that day and thinking about that meal. It's tempting to have soup, just because I'm not sure if I'll have any restriction, but I know we're supposed to eat solids, so I'm wondering whether grilled chicken would be a good choice?

I had cream of wheat! LOL Grilled chicken will not be good that was the first thing I wanted and soon found out why so many have a hard with it. If you do try it chew chew chew! Good luck.

  7. I just had my first visit with a lap band doctor (not at OCC). I thought my appointment was to see if I would qualify and ask questions, etc. He walked in asking me if I was excited and told me that it is sometimes a process with the insurance but it eventually all comes through in the end. I asked about foods I would never be able to eat again and he said bread and hot dogs basically. I know he can't sit and list every food, but it did not sound like that huge of a sacrifice. I liked him alot, but I kind of felt like I a was visiting with a salesman. He did talk about smaller portions and eating right, but can those be the only absolute no foods forever? I had read all the brochures and several websites on it and I feel like he was sort of glossing it over.

    Give it to me straight.

Well I am just a few months into this process. I have had 2 fills and could eat a hotdog but don't want to(lol) bread is a no no! I also have a hard time with apples(peel) salad, chicken, turkey, roast beef and hamburger and let us not forget RICE! Just seams if it is dry or sticky it will not go down. That said I am down 34 pounds and would trade all of those things for the way I have been feeling. This was the best decision for me. I wish I would have done it sooner. I went to the OCC and was very happy! I was not a number!! I wish you luck and hope you find the answers you are looking for!

  8. I have an elliptical which I don't like but I bought it 2 years ago and I am going to use it!! I did 20min tonight and feel great. I really think this is going to kick my weight loss into high gear.

Thanks everyone for your coments and advice :D I will keep you posted on how it goes!

    Hi Mamabear,

Exercise is very very helpful. Plus drink lots of water.

I think Debbie is right, that exercise is key, since I don't lose weight if I don't workout.

On that note, take baby steps. :) Working out till you pass out or puke is not a good thing.

If it has been a while since you have worked out, take it slow. 10-15 minutes. Every week, increase your time on the trainer by 2-5 minutes, depending on what you can handle and your fitness level.

(BTW, what machine/trainer do you have? treadmill, bike, elliptical?)

I go to the gym, but I use a combo of machines, free weights and balance exercises to workout. Then at home, I have a sit-down bike with back support that has different programs. We are hoping to get a treadmill for at home too.

    Hugs,

    Kristi

  9. So I have decided it is time to work out! Any advice on how to start out? I walk lots outside when it's not -40 but want to walk on my trainer this winter. I feel like I am on the biggest losser. I was sure I was going to vomit after 13min yesterday. I am not really a fan of working out(as one would guess at 239) So is it best to start out shorter times a couple of times a day or just continue to work past the past out stage? Any good tips would be great!

    Thanks

  10. How do you know that the OCC gives more aggressive fills? I'm curious.

Well I was told that when you go to the OCC you may go 2-3 times for fills and then be done. I have a friend that went to her Dr and had 1 fill a month for 12 months she still is not at her sweat spot a year and a half after surgery. I just hope this next fill goes well!
