  1. Dang, you girls have been busy! Ang~ Great NSV. I had that one just a couple of months ago. Love the waxing chat. Too funny! I am pretty tough, but don't think I could have that done - owie! Glou, hilarious! You are too funny! If I tried a DIY wax, I would be too afraid to pull it off and probably end up with a gooey mess that was all stuck together! LOL! Can you imagine the chat in the ER on that one??? Glou~ Good for you, getting up with DD! She has a great sense of instilling guilt - can you imagine her as an old woman! Watch out Marie!!! MsB~ Joining the gym will be a good thing. I hate running on the dreadmill too, but if it helps keep you going it will be a good thing. I go to a class at least once a week for strength training. I need someone else to push me a little harder than I will push myself. Lu~ Sounds like you are super busy! I don't see how you could have time to cook! Sounds like you are ready for a fill! I have been having the opposite problem; feeling a little tight lately. I have had a hard time getting food down. Kind of weird since I have not had a fill in forever! Slim~ Good for you for hanging tough on the game ban! The video of the tantrum kid was hilarious! We have tried hard to keep them out of the house, the kids would be fine, DH and I were afraid we would get addicted! LOL. We have a Wii, but limit the games to weekends. DH and I have a standing game of golf with DS on Sunday evenings. It is kind of nice to get together and have some fun before the week starts. Of course we have to try and get the game done before Desperate Housewives! PJTP: I went back to my strength class - have not been for awhile; my butt is killing me! I needed to get back in the gym. I have parent conferences tomorrow night - long day! We see parents from 4-8 with no breaks! It is nuts. The best part is having no school on Friday! Yeah. The snow has melted so we are going to try and get all the mowing done and get the irrigation pipe up before the next snow! Hope you all have a great day!
  2. I woke up to SNOW this morning! Crazy! We never get snow this early in town. We had a good 2-3 inches at our house and I am sure they had more on the westside closer to the mountains. My irrigation pipe is still out in the field - we still have two more weeks worth of water! It is supposed to be cold again tonight, so it will most likely be icy on the way to school in the morning! Slim~ I felt the same as you today, must be on the same wave length. I was on the "see food" diet - see food, eat food. Everything went in my mouth today - not good. I think I will also be starting the liquids in the morning - I feel all bloaty (if that is a word). Labmom~ Glad that you got some sleep! I have been in comfort food mode since the weather has changed. We are having meatloaf later in the week. It is that time of the year when I start using the crockpot at least 1-2x per week. Hope everyone had a good weekend!
  3. Lab~ Sounds like you all had a fun time! Food and drink with friends, nothin' better than that! Double up on workouts this week, that should do it for ya! Slim~ Sorry about the headache - no fun! Could be from sitting in a meeting room under the flourescent (sp) lights for a couple of days- gets me every time!Hope you are feeling better! MsB~ Have fun! Nice to get away for a few days! H2L~ Hi, join in any time! PJTP: DS had a good game on Thursday - they won and it was fun! Had the big game last night and it was a super long day! Wow, 7am - 9:45ish pm! DS loved being on the sidelines and warming up with the varsity - he is hooked on football! Oh yeah, the varsity also won! Go Lava Bears! I got caught up on my grades and some other stuff at school. It is nice to leave on Friday and not have a ton of extra to do on the weekend. Just been hangin out today. Met a former students dad this morning and worked on a marketing proposal for his business. Kind of fun, haven't really "worked in the field" for a long time. I have some more work to do, but it is nice to do something new! DD called last night and it was so fun to hear from her! She was really jazzed about her first week of school and absolutely loves rowing! She finely figured out that she is a very strong girl and was able to unleash the beast! She got to power on the rowing machines and beat everyone by a ton on her sprint distance. She and her roomie both got invited to varsity practice this morning, she said it was so fun and she absolutely loves rowing! Proud mama - sorry! But she has grown so much and had such huge self-esteem issues in high school and she just could not get around it. It is so nice to see her happy and enjoying life! If you see me on FB you might catch her new pic that she is using - she looks so happy and joyful, she is spinning on the beach! Well, should get dinner going! Well, take it out of the crock pot! BBL!
  4. Ang~ Watch what the kids say at home - they say the darndest things in public! Oh my! When mine were little, I always found it hard not to laugh, but that comes back to bite ya! Slim~ Keep up the work with C25K, make sure you stretch. It will be worth it. We are not close to the fires in Oregon. So no worries! We just got all the smoke when the winds shifted. It is beautiful here today. Smoke cleared, fresh snow on the mountains - sigh. MsB~ I hate to see the forest burn! It is so sad. In some locations though a good undergrowth burn is needed. We have some pretty dense ground areas that will be huge trouble if they catch on fire! Scary! Headed to Corvallis the other day and it was clear with light sprinkles on this side of the mountain, as soon as I peaked over the top - down pour! Crazy ran! PJTP: Went to see DD on Tuesday night, we had dinner and then I told her about Penny. She was so sad and started to cry, just broke my heart! She was better later in the evening. We were hanging out in her dorm room with her roomie, they got to laughing and I knew at that point I could go. Had my meeting in Salem and it ran late, so I headed back down to meet her for dinner again. Took her and roomie to dinner and we all laughed the entire time. They get along well, so that was nice to see. DS has his civil war football game with our cross town rivals tonight - should be fun! He went to middle school with most of the kids at the other school - so he gets to see some of his friends. It is the JV game and we have the BIG game tomorrow night. Hope everyone has a great day!
  5. EWWW! Pictures could be a little sketch for your get together! LOL! Can't wait to see them! Don't over do it!
  6. MsB~ You will move that ticker and my guess is that it goes down! Keep up the exercise! You are lucky the smoke isn't heading your direction - it is horrible. I feel sorry for the guys working that fire, if it is this bad here, they must not even be able to breathe! I love my crackberry - i have the cute little pearl! I really want an iPhone, but we don't have AT&T and I wasn't real confident about all the features, etc working if I bought an unlocked phone. Anywho, my t-mobile contract is up next summer and we are supposed to have AT&T by January, so I am hoping an iPhone is in my future! (crossing fingers) Slim~ The head part of this WLS is the hardest part to overcome! I have found that I get down on myself when the scale doesn't move and I start going to that place - I will never succeed, this is just like before. I'm not sure what the answer is, but it is really hard to stop the negative self-talk when it gets started! Then I start slipping into old eating patterns, of course I can't eat as much, but I do notice it. I have found that it is much harder the further out I get. Trying to find that initial motivation is tough, plus the weight loss slows down and it gets tougher as you get thinner! It's like a cruel joke! On the exercise front - you can always do something else on the in between days. You could do some strength training or walking on your "off" days. Biking would be good too, I find that I have to break in my fanny when I start biking, so you aren't the only one! Make sure you move and do some stretching, especially if you feel sore or tight. You have your own built in cheerleader and fanny kicker if you need it! Night all!
  7. Lab~ Chasing puppies not too bad! Labs the first two years are always a handful. That is what my folks raised when I was a kid, always on the go and happy go lucky! What do you do for your carbs? I am always having problems in that area. It seems like they get out of control really fast! Trying to keep the balance, but find that part really difficult. School is busy. The older kids are picking their marketing projects. Some of them have some really good ideas for the Advertising and Fashion Promotion event this year. I love their creativity! They keep me busy! Slim~ So proud of you! I know how hard it is when you first start - I remember thinking "no way can I run a mile, let alone 3"! Make sure you take the days in between off, to give your body time to recoup and take the program at your pace. Don't feel bad if you have to redo a week or redo a day before you move on. I am so excited for you! PJTP: It is so smokey here today you can't even see the sky! It is crazy! There is a fire south of us and all the smoke is blowing into town. Hoping it will clear up tonight, we are supposed to get cooler weather - snow level drops to 4000 feet, maybe it will push the smoke out! They even cancelled the soccer games due to the smoke. The Humane Society called me today and Penny's ashes are ready to pick up. I will go by there tomorrow and pick them up. I was fine all day and then cried when the nice man called to tell me that I could pick her up. Sorry to keep talking about Penny, but she was such a sweet old girl - miss her! Well, I will check in later, have some school work to do. BBL!
  8. MsB~ Yeah that the knees aren't too sore! Glouc~ Good for you on starting the exercise. It is so hard to get started and make it a habit. That is the one thing I have always struggled with over the years. I hear ya on the balance thing - one arm, one leg - it's like cow tipping, over I go! LOL! It will be good that you are working out with DD, it is nice to have someone else to prod you along when prodding is needed! Slim~ Go for it! The C25K is an amazing program that helps you start slow and work your way up without overdoing it. I love, love, love the program and I would not be running now if it was not for C25K. You can always do the days or weeks over and tailor it to your own needs. This is a great time of year to start, because you can usually target a holiday 5K race for your first race. That is also a good motivator, even if you can't run the whole race - it is fun to get out with others that also run. Ang~ Hope your little guy is feeling better. That is no fun when they are sick. That is a great age for cuddling! My little guy is 15 and 6' tall and I miss those days! He still has me "tuck" him in at night - I love it! PJTP: Hope everyone has a great day. I am doing better being back at work today. We have our big rival game against the other local high school on Friday night. So the kids are pretty wound up this week and gearing for Friday night. Should be a fun game! Well, just thought I would check in on my lunch break! TTYL!
  9. MsB~ Sounds like you had a good run - take care of that knee! Does your DD do the travel teams for softball? If you head over the mountain this way, let me know! We did travel volleyball for years and now DD doesn't even play. I think she hit burnout (5yrs of year round play) - she might do some intermurals at college. She is really excited about trying out for crew next week - crossing fingers, we could use the scholarship money! I know how the plateau thing goes! Did that for 4-5 months. Not fun. It is good that you are working for the loss. I think Lu was the one that gave me the best advice - Mix it up. Change the exercise routine, mix up the calories. Making a couple changes was what finally got the scale moving again. Not moving fast, but it is going down. Slim~ That would be great if you could get out with your DH. It is nice to have someone help you get out the door on those days when it would just be easier not to go. DH and I both run - but he is the crazy distance runner guy. We try to go to trails where I can do my short loops and he can do a long loop. Even though we aren't together, it is nice to go out at the same time and have someone to commiserate with each other when needed. Hope everyone had a great weekend. I am ready for the week to begin, get to do store training in my classes this week. Pretty laid back, but kind of fun to get all the new kids trained! Slim have fun at your training!
  10. The knee must be feeling better? Have a good hike - you are better than me, having a hard time motivating my lazy butt! Thought I would run this weekend, but it hasn't happened for me yet!
  11. Slim~ I love the hair! Congrats on the NSV, mediums - oh yeah! Boys would never understand - it is off their radar!! I am going to head over to the valley on Wed for a board of directors meeting. So I think I might go visit DD on Tuesday evening, take her to dinner and share the bad news - not something that I am looking forward to, but one of those necessary evils you have responsibility for as a parent. Labmom~ Have fun with Dana and Glouc I feel sorry for the people in Dallas when the three of you are done!!! Never had fried butter, but it sounds kinda good - I absolutely love real butter. Yum! How is the remodel going? Are things moving along? PJTP: I have a bunch of mowing and watering to do today. We are at the end of our irrigation season here in the next two weeks - yeah! DS and I are going to hit the mowers and get it done. DH is feeling horrible this morning, has a sore throat and all stuffed up, so we are going to give him the day off to get some rest. Hope everyone has a great day - BBL!
  12. MsB~ Should of had a great day at the game - that was a huge win! DS loved it. He went with some friends and had a blast - he said it was way more fun than the OSU game he went to. I think he will end up wearing Green before all is said and done! I had a good day. Spent time with the doggies. Playing ball, snuggling and giving baths. I think I needed the time with them to heal a bit from Friday morning when the old girl crossed the rainbow bridge. They are such a huge part of our lives I just can't imagine not having them around. I will end up being the crazy old dog lady - guess it could be worse! Hope everyone had a great day - check back tomorrow!
  13. Hey, hey everyone! Just found this site! Glad to see my "lost friends"!
