    I think you have came to the right place.If you read my post you will see I also had my concerns. This forum put my mind at ease! I am nurse, and feel very comfortable going to mexico for my lapband...just got to wait to April...recent foot surgery and cant take off work for a while. Hope this helps.

    Hey Jill, Congrats and glad to hear your feeling well. I use to work at a weight loss center. Although I can't say I practiced what I preached, I did counsel my patients about their bodies going into starvation mode from decreased caloric intake. It may be your brain has to get use to what your body is doing, or perhaps you may need to increase your cals to at least 1000/day. Of coarse, that depends on what you and Dr. Miranda discussed as far as your diet, but I did want to let you know I have seen people with the same issue at the clinic I worked at...good luck!... I don't think April will ever get here.

    Hi Amy, So good to hear everything went well for you! I was wondering does everyone have to return for their first fill or follow up to OCC at 6-8 weeks or are you planning to go somewhere in TN, If so, where in TN? Someone told me of a doc in murfeesboro, but I souldn't find any info and have no idea where to go for fills.

    Gosh, I'm not sure what I would do either. I also have not been banded yet. In fact, I just joined and scheduled my surgery a few days ago. I still have a lot of research I can focus on,and if were planning a trip to Italy I would probably wait til afterward. Of coarse, the other members that have been banded no more than I..lol I can say this...My surgery is set for April 15th, and maybe she could go on the same day (if she decides to wait until after your trip). We could pass the time talking about your trip to Italy post op.

    Hey Zoey, I am a nurse myself and I think what Lisa suggested might be a good idea for you. Dr. Ortiz might even be able to speak with you on the phone and tell you his opinion on consulting him or exactly what type of physician would be most qualified to help. Hang in there! also....I have done home health for years. I found it a little odd that your packing was changed by the nurse every few days instead of daily. Do you know what they were packing the wound with? Usually, packed wounds needs to stay wet to moist and can dry out if not changed daily.

    Congrats on your success! I just recently joined and scheduled my surgery for April 15th. I am also a Registered Nurse and manage a very busy Home Health agency....one reason why I had to schedule my surgery for April rather than uggh ohhh say tomorrow..lol. I recently have had to be off on medical leave for foot surgery. I had plantar fascitis/heel spur syndrome, and can't take off aga...

    Everyone on here has been so nice and positive! Thank You for helping me make my decision..I'm going for it! I feel so secure with Dr. Ortiz and the staff at OCC and have'nt even met them yet!

    Thanks for the info! Yes, I have checked out lapband talk and everything I read was all positive. The one thing that I found that is concerning me is that Juarez Mexico seems to have a high crime rate and that scares me. eeek! I'm a country girl...not much crime where I am from.

    Hello..congrats! I just joined yesterday myself. I have not scheduled yet. I am still researching, but I have decided I am going for it! yeh! I'm just not sure where. I would love to have done by Dr. Ortiz...I've heard nothing but good things. I hope to make my decision soon.

    Congrats on your recent surgery! Hope you are doing well. Have you went back to work yet? I have a sedentary job and was hoping to take off for just a few days. Is the recovery worse than you expected?
