Glad youre starting to lose again. Mine is back and forth...but at least its moving again!

  2. You have inspired me. May try the lo carb but last time I did, I got a kidney stone. They said the diet can cause.

  3. Hey glad you are still losing. Are you still doing the lo carb? I rode across the border with you on Sat.I have only lost about 2-3 lbs with my first fill. Frustrating...

  4. Once you go back to solids, you probably won't lose either. That's the way it was for me.
  5. Mine lasted about 10 days. Gas X and walking really helps!! Good luck!
  6. Going for my first fill this Sat, June 28, anyone else going to be there? Also, any tips or suggestions?
  7. I am going back for my fill on June 19. My husband was saying that alot of the Mexicans are mad at the Americans right now with the recent shooting of the 14 year old that was shot crossing the border. Just wondering of anyone has heard anything. We had no problems when we went in May for surgery just curious. Thanks
  8. When you are ready to go shopping, the taxis are waiting outside the hotel. We asked the drivers if they spoke english and if they didn't, we would get one that could. We felt very safe there even when shopping. Just do like they say and don't be out after dark. We took a suitcase and it helped when we came home because we had bought a ton of stuff. Make sure it has wheels because you will be very sore. Gas X strips were very helpful. They give you about 4 pain pills when you leave the clinic. Make sure you save one for the flight home. Doesn't really matter where you stay,(Marriott/Lucerna) they both have the OCC special of broth,juice.etc. Hope this helps!! Good luck!!
  9. I think swimming is ok after 3-4 weeks as long as your incisions look ok. As for weight lifting, no abdomen workouts for 3 months I believe....
  10. I am finally off the 21 day liquid diet. Any breakfast ideas that isn't considered mushy? I read where yall post about eating oatmeal but isn't that considered mushy? Are eggs mushy?? Trying for the protein but can't come up with good ideas. Thanks
  11. I tried the CVS brand and I have to agree that was the nastiest thing I have ever tasted...Where do you get that brand-Emergen?
  12. Thanks guys for all the help. I tried a hard boiled egg this morning. I couldn't eat it all because it felt like it might come back up so I stopped...I guess it will be a learning process.
  13. Ok Thanks. Will I have trouble swallowing at first if I don't chew, chew \, chew? Just not for sure if I will feel restriction or not....confused???
  14. Ok so my 21 day liquid diet is over in a couple days! Do I eat normal solid food, not mushy? Also, I know some say you still feel a restriction and some say they could eat everything in sight. Do I stay on a calorie counter and if so, what amount do I stick to? Any other advice for us coming off the liquid diet?? Thanks
  15. I am recently a bandster but haven't had my first fill. I know they say to get a fill 6-8 weeks post op. How long before you get the 2nd fill and 3rd? Dr. Ortiz said he could almost guarantee 3 fills if it were done at he OCC. Also, the things I have read stated that you typically lose more weight after your 2nd fill. Does anyone find this to be true?
  16. I stayed at the Marriott and it was wonderful. The staff were so helpful and it was a very nice facility...
  17. Just wanted to start a discussion about the port. I had my surgery on May 5 and felt prepared for my adventure. I must say with all the information on all the forums there wasn't much talk about the port. I just wanted the ones that are scheduled for upcoming surgeries to have a little more info. The port, so far, for me has been the worst part of this experience. I guess if I had known what to expect I would have been a little more prepared mentally. I have a high pain tolerance but the port has been very very sore. I am about 12 days post op and am finally able to move better, I couldn't sleep on either side at night because it was too uncomfortable. Driving has been very hard for me. It's a very positional thing, the port that is. I had a hard time driving because I couldn't get in a comfortable position. The flight home was really miserable to so I would suggest saving your pain meds for the trip home, especially if you have a long flight as I did. Almost 2 weeks out and I hardly have any pain from my port. It i tender at times, depending on what I am doing. Having said that, I would definitely do it again. I was talking with another patient that had her surgery the same day as mine and she also felt ill prepared for the port experience. We felt like we should post something for others. Maybe there is a forum already on this and we missed it but I just wanted to help others if possible. Having said that, I would defiantly do it again!! Good luck and hope this helps!!!
  18. I had my surgery May 5th. We stayed at the Marriott and the pool was heated. They don't require you stay at the clinic overnight. I did and my husband went back to the motel. I would suggest leaving your mom at the motel for the surgery because you don't have a scheduled surgery time. It;s just whoever they decide to start doing the pre=ops on. I went last that day and after talking to most of the patients, I had scheduled my surgery for months in advance for the 5th but the rest had just decided a week ago or so to have surgery then. It was almost 12;30-1:00 before I was taken back for surgery. I think it may be more relaxing for you if you know your child is having more fun at the pool rather than being cramped up in the room. It may take awhile also before you get taken back to your room so you could be sitting in the lobby for awhile. Once you are in your room, you can use the phone to call and check on them. We also we shopping the next day so you could spend time with them then...Hope this helps....
