  1. Which diet are you doing? Two shakes and a lean cuisine? I would have had a little Thai food instead of my lean cuisine. Don't suffer unnecessarily. What protein shakes are you using. Some "diet" shakes contain a lot of sugar and calories. Are you drinking water and exercising. Basically it's calories in, calories out. I just got banded in July but I have learned so much from reading others posts. Hope you get the answers that you are looking for.

  2. I am going down on August 4th for a surgery date of August 6th. I would love to know if anyone else will be there. Does anyone have just one thing they wish they would have known right before or after that no one told them? Please tell me. I have learned so much on this forum but I want to try and ensure I don't make some of the mistakes I've read about either. I guess a mistake is bound to happen, but I'm trying to learn from all of yoU!

Don't drink the tap water, make sure you treat yourself to a "farewell meal" the day before surgery, don't stress (you'll kick yourself when it's all over, Dr. Ortiz and his staff run everything like a finely tuned machine), Take a Taxi to Revolution Blvd AKA Downtown Tijuana to shop or just see the sites, don't wander to much outside around the Marriott (it's not a great neighborhood). After surgery walk, walk, walk, and don't forget when you get home walk, walk, walk, it helps with healing. I just got banded on July 16th and I wouldn't change a thing. I made a great decision, Thanks OCC.

  3. Well I just got banded one week ago today. Including pre-op diet(7 days)I have lost 16 lbs. I drink 2 oz of protein drink every hour and in between on the half hour I drink 3 oz of water or zero calorie drink. This keeps me well hydrated and around 60 grams of protein a day. 3 of my protein breaks are now replaced with some other liquid. Today I chose 5 oz liquid yogurt for breakfast, 5.5 oz low sodium V8, and 1/2 c. creamy leek soup. I never feel hungry and I am super excited about my weight loss.

  4. Cali Girl.

Maybe I will see you at the OCC or the Marriott this weekend. My friend and I will be at the OCC on Saturday for a fill at 10am and then should be outside at the pool after that. Is your surgery today or tomorrow?

Post when you can after your surgery. I used the OCC computers right after my surgery to email my friends that I was alive and well. Many of my friends and family thought I had lost my mind going to Mexico for surgery. LOL

    You hang in there

You can look for me, I will be in a black bathing suit with tiny white polka dots, Oh and my name is Rhonda. We are leaving as soon as my husband gets back from running errands. I live about 1 1/2 hours from OCC. Can't wait to just get there and do my pre-ops so at least I feel like this ball is rolling. I am 223 today. Woot woot! Down 10 lbs since pre-op diet. My surgery is tomorrow Friday 7/16/2010.

  5. I was banded last Friday 7/2/2010 and I have been doing nothing but broth and water / juice. I physically look like I am losing in some places but when I got on the scale, it says that I have gained since I have left the hospital. I havent had one solid bite of anything and I am following the liquids perfectly. Is something wrong ? why would I be gaining ?

Broth is high in sodium and causes some water retention. This is normal. you'll pee it out in no time

  6. Leaving to Tijuana in a few hours. I am so excited to embark on this new journey in my life. I have lost 10 lbs on the pre-op diet in 7 days. Almost makes me question whether I could really loose the weight with good old fashioned self control. Ya right! Who am I kidding. For the bezillionth time I would loose 15-20 lbs and gain back 30! YAY finally I get to be the person on the outside that I feel like on the inside. I swear I have a skinny girl trapped inside me that's been trying to eat her way out for years  Wish me luck and pray for a speedy recovery for me. The rest is up to me and my new little tool.
