Dottie I have been to Tampa three times because of Kathy she is a wonderful person easy to talk to and is cocernered over the care your given. her assistant Deborah is funny and takes reall good care to put you at ease she also makes sure your able to tolerate fluids before you leave. I wouldn't hesitate to recomend them to anyone. The cost is 299.00 first but you get your monies worth they weigh you on a specia machine, take all your history down.then measure your body. That covers that plus the fluro and the fill. When you go back your cost is 155.00 if it is an emergency unfill there is no charge. Very Very fair I went from my banding date with Dr. Ortize Oct 16 2006 to December 10th 2006 for my first fill and looking back on it I really didn't need the fill because even without a fill I had restriction. I have nothing but good things to say about OCC when doctors here would not touch me I self paid and did my homework. I feel this was the right decision. There are doctors here in VA who DR. Ortize trained who still would not touch me. By the way Kathy studied under DR.Ortize so she knows just what she is doing. I was banded by Dr Ortiz last Oct went back for my first fill in December but was having trouble keeping anything down called FILL CENTERS and they talked to be and set me up with a place in St Pete, I also wanted to go back to Mexico because I felt the care given was excellent. Went for my appointment on June 18 and met with Kathy Gonzeles she was fantastic also her assistant Deborah made me feel very at ease. My fill seemed fine but started having problems swollening the water so she set up the machine again and took some out so all I had was 1.6cc. After two days I found that I was still having problems since I was still in Florida visiting my son in Gainsville I made another appointment for that same week after talking with her she decided to remove all fluid for a month and put me on a medicine called protonix to help the irritation.I felt so scared because I could eat now I go back to St Pete in 3 weeks for my fill. This women trained under Dr. Ortiz and I would reccomend her to any one without hesitation. My initial visit was 299. for all medical and fill plus to redo my fill. #-o Welcome to the group my name is lynn and I was banded on Oct 16 by Dr.Ortize what a wonderful soul he has knows what he is doing and does it extremely well. I have lost 22 pounds and it feels great I have diabetes and I had to do something. My insurance company would have paid for Gastric Bypass but I didn't want to go that route,to invasive. I think the only problem I am having now is my energy level is very very low. I need to start taking something to help that. You hang in there and I know what your saying when you say I have always been overweight cause thats me to. So stsrt your new life with Dr Otize, and I don't think the rest of your life will be a problem. Good Luck Lynn
