I was banded on Jan 10, 2007. My glue is just starting to come off. The tenderness of the port has dropped dramatically now. I set up for my 1st fill on Feb 13th. Weight loss has stabilized but about 30 lbs in Jan alone. I do need to start eating more though. Good luck to you you will heal quickly and get back to your normal routine just don't go to quickly.

I was in TJ for surgery on the 10th and it did work but I believe it was international signal which is an additional 65 cents a minute. I have not received the bill to verify that though. If you are within 1-2 blocks I think you can be receiving the American signal.

Hi my name is Tom and I am in Huntington Beach. I was banded on the 10th of January by Dr. Ortiz and all is well I think! I did get the vg band so I am not sure when the fills will work I have read the stories and hope mine will go smoothly. I am on the liquid stage and have been for 1 week post op and the 1 week pre op other than growling I am not doing to bad with it. I do drink lots of water.

I went onto IRS site nothing there states anything about deductibility in foreign country. In the IRS pub 17 it has medicine bought in or shipped from a foreign country is not deductible. But then you go to their pub 502 and medicine prescribed in or consumed in a foreign country is deductible if it is legal in both that country and the US. I am sure if you called the IRS you might get different answers if posed to different people on multiple calls! I do know that they tax us on world wide income but the IRS has a very one sided slant. I don't know of any way to get full deduction if it is ok it will be limited to 7.5% of your income there is no tricky way, those only get you in trouble!
