Hey Jane! I just got back today and I also had a hiatal hernia. Dr. Ortiz said I got a two for one surgery! Everything went very smooth. The staff was very friendly. Dr.'s Ortiz and Martinez were very attentive and thorough. They both have a wonderful bedside manner. I think Mrs. Ortiz is the best "Girl Friday" in the world. She is so caring and gracious and made us feel so at ease. The Hotel Lucerna was very nice. My son loved the pool! As for me, the only real pain I feel is in the middle of my chest like someone is stepping on me( I guess from the hernia)and this egg on my arm from a shot they gave me Doris 08/04/04

I was on the MexicanBandsters site and they said that Dr. Ortiz has changed the hospital where he performs surgeries. They said the new hospital hasn't an ICU. Does anyone know anything about this? Doris

Hi Erika, I'm scheduled with Dr. Ortiz Aug. 4th. My cost was $8,995. That includes transportation from the airport, 3 nights hotel, all preop and free fill (excluding fluoro). I'm very anxious to go. I think I'm just soooooooooo ready to start my banded life that I haven't even really been nervous about the surgery itself. I've been researching the band and reading posts from different boards since around the beginning of May. I know this is the best thing for me. Wish me luck and good luck to you! Doris
