  1. Sure! Sample of yesterday: Breakfast consists of 1 egg with cheese Midmorning snack is either 1/2 of an apple or banana with peanut butter Lunch - small cup of grilled chicken and salad Afternoon snack - High protein bar Supper - 1/4 of a baked chicken breast with cheese and picante sauce and mushroom soup and a tablesppon of refried beans. Some days at lunch if the cafeteria doesn't have anything worth while I drink a Myoplex shake and I also make a high protein pudding from the Myoplex shake, fat-free sugar-free chocolate pudding mix, High protein chocolate powder, and fat free whipped topping. That is packed with protein and no fat and very limited carbs. I may even do this at breakfast if not in the mood to eat. I do occasionally have 1 egg and 1 piece of bacon. I was banded Jan 17th. Jan 3, I weighed 241, Jan 18 I weighed 228, now I weigh 194. So things are going just as expected and very well. The band is not intended to drop the weight off like the bypass, but to give you a continous weight loss if you follow the guidelines. There are people who can make this not work by not following the diet, they don't lose as much. I didn't spend $12,000 to not have it work though. Does this help you any? I hope so, good luck
  2. I was banded Jan. 17. I felt just a small bit of pressure but I wouldn't call it that really for the first week or so. I assumed it was from the swelling from the surgery or esophageal spasms. It went away. After my first fill, I felt it again for about a week and I feel it if I eat fast or upon getting full. I can eat only part of a half of a small chicken breast topped with mushroom soup and cheese and get the feeling. This tool really works and I am loving it. Good luck!!! 3. Wow! You are truly an inspiration. I am so glad I read your post. I am 6 weeks out and have lost 35 pounds(this included the 2 week pre-diet). I was wondering what an attainable goal is for 6 months, that is great and I am so happy for you. I hope I do the same. =D>
  4. Hi! My name is Michelle, I was banded Jan 17th here in Arkansas. When I woke up I didn't feel anything except a little soreness at the incisions, not enough for pain meds. In fact I never took pain meds. When I first starting drinking I would get a feeling of discomfort if I drank too fast. Believe me, 1/2 doesn't sound like a lot, but it is more than adequate at that time. I took the advice of Dr. Lambert and took Milk of Magnesia from the get go to alleviate gas pains from not only my bowel but it has been shown to help with the gas pains from the CO2 gas. It evidently worked because I never had any chest or shoulder pain from gas. I progressed through liquids, pureed, and now am on regular diet. I am scheduled for my first fill Tuesday and I can't wait because I am able to eat more and have hit a plateau with the weight loss. My first office visit with Dr. Lambert was the week before Christmas and I weighed 241. Today I weigh 206. So it is going well I think, just ready for the fill to get the weighloss jump started again and also to alleviate the hunger. This was by far the easiest thing I have ever done so far to this point.
  5. I live in Batesville Arkansas and I am getting banded on January 17 here in Batesville by Dr. John Lambert. I chose this route because of the fills and the need to travel to get fills and follow ups when needed. It is hard to get off work with the nursing shortage and all. I have heard nothing but good things about Dr. Ortiz. I am a Registered Nurse in Surgery here and have watched Dr. Lambert operate for 9 years, so even though he is relatively new to the band, (he has been doing the gastric bypass for 3 years) he is highly, highly skilled and I trust him. I am starting to get a little nervous as the time gets closer because I have never had any surgery at all, I think anesthesia scares me more than anything. Even though I tell people every day that things will be fine, it is different when it is you getting the operation. I started the pre-diet Tuesday, December 26th and have lost 9.8 pounds, eating high protein and low carb to shrink my liver. I caught myself yesterday thinking this diet isn't so bad, maybe I don't need surgery, but then I remind myself of how many times I have dieted and failed. Have you went through this stage? Good luck with yours!
