I live in Mobile and you are right, no one will touch you. There is one in Baton Rouge but he charged about $325.00. I also got banded in Mexico and found a doctor in Kenner, La. Dr. Waigh Mando. He charges $180.00 and has done about 4 fills for me. A really nice guy. But just one thing, he does not use floro, but hits it every time.

I had my surgery in TJ and had planned on using Dr. Thomas Lavin for aftercare. When I got up enough money ($1000.00 for a year) I found out that they are in the middle of deciding on wheather or not to see other doctors patients. I called my second choice, and found he was no longer seeing patients from Mexico! So the first one that would see me I made an appointment. Fill went ok ...BUT....he offered no nutritional advice or even told me anything about what to eat after fill. He is 3 hours away, which is ok, but I really want support besides fills. I live in Mobile, Al so I can go to Panhandle of Florida, Mississippi or Louisiana. Flights to Houston Tx. are cheap from here but I would have to stay overnight and get a taxi. Please, anyone out there have any ideas if this is the best I can do. Thanks to any and all suggestions, Cheryl

I agree. First there was no way I could afford what the doctors here in Mobile, Al charge. My first thought was no way was I going to Mexico, so my closest option was Dr. Bellanger in Baton Rouge. But money was tight and I could not even do that. I kept doing research and decided to change my mind and go to Mexico. Dr. Ramos Kelly did my surgery and no problems. But due to my stupid thinking I waited awhile to make an appointement with an aftercare doc. The one I was going to was Dr. Lavin, but they are going thru something with their lawyers about wheather or not to do patients from Mexico. I was so depressed when I found out. Then I called another doctor on my own list and they no longer were seeing patients from Mexico either! All of a sudden it is like we have the plague. Finally I found a doctor that would see me from Baton Rouge. I just feel like I screwed everything up. Everything I have read about Dr. Ortiz on the internet seems to be wonderful, so I cant say anything about him. JUST FIND AN AFTERCARE DOCTOR FIRST!

If you find anyone that will do Mexico patients in Houston for a good price would you please let me know? I live in Mobile Al and the docs here are unreal. But flights from here on Continential are always on special. Anyway any help would be good Thanks, Cabux

In Covington there is Dr. Thomas Lavin, he charges 1000.00 for a year and you have to have an upper gi and go thru a diet class. David Carol in Jackson, Ms I think is 300.00 each time, Drake Bellanger in Baton Rouge is 350.00, Ocean Springs is 100.00 plus 400.00. There are quite a few just still expensive.

Pamela, You are really an encouragement to me. I was banded 2-16-97 by Dr.Ramos Kelly in TJ. Am back home and doing well. I never noticed how good food smells! I thought I would attack the guy sitting next to me on the plane home when he started eating a sandwich they offered! I treated myself to tomato juice, not clear, but you gotta do what you gotta do. Which doctors have you guys gone to in TJ? I am being banded by Dr. Ramos Kelly this upcoming Fri, leaving from Mobile, al. Why go all the way to TJ, are there not any doctores that will do it closer. May need you guys later on! Cheryl
