Beery, I went and got my first fill today. My flight left PHX at 955 arrived late at 11:30. My appointment was at 12. I didn't get there until 12:30. No problem they still took me. We had to wait for other psgrs they were picking up around the same time. Arrived we had our fills which was cool to watch with the flora and were out of the OCC by 1:30. Our flight wasn't until 4:55 but they said we should leave asap as the border had at least a two hour wait. The driver took us to Lucerna to pick up other psgrs and they went to the other border (i think its called mesa) and we were suppose to walk and wait in line, which was super long, but the drive told the border agt we all had surgery and walking would be hard. Anyways, we got to the airport at 2:55 only to find our 4:55 flt delayed until 6pm. But we asked if we could standby another flight and they didn't mess around they got us on a 2:55 flight that was running a little late and we got home to PHX a little after 4p. Although we didn't get to shop or spend time in San Diego. It all turned out well. Oh my band was filled to 1.7cc - now liquids until Monday. best of luck! Jazzy

My discharge info says if you have any problems including a fever and you think its related to surgery to contact either Dr Martinez or Dr Ortiz. I don't think it would hurt to give them a call. Jazzy

I would love to be a part of the Arizona banisters, My flight leaves in a few hours and I am scheduled to be banded tomorrow April 20th. I will let you know how it all went when I return Wish me luck. Jazzy

Lisa, Thank you so much for posting, I fly out of PHX to SD on Thursday and have Surgery this Friday. I've been having bad dreams that I'm not going to wake up from surgery. So then I wake up from my dream and then I have to get out of bed and go kiss both my boys and my hubby. I've had surgeries before and had the same dreams and everything was fine, but I still get very nervous about it. I guess partly because I am leaving the kids and hubby at home and meeting my mom in SD and the fact besides my parents and siblings I've told no one else. I'm really glad your experience was so great it really has helped. Jazzy

So excited to see there are other AZ, we just moved to the west valley from CA two yrs ago, so we are preety new to AZ. I'm scheduled for surgery with Dr. Ortiz in a little over a week. I fly to SD on the 19th, leaving my hubby and kids at home and my mom is meeting me in SD to be with me for the surgery on the 20th. I wish my hubby and kids were coming with me, but my hubby has to work and I know I'm going to want the break from the kids to rest after surgery. Although I love to fly I'm a little nervous flying alone. I"m also having a hard time losing the preop weight they requested. But I'm doing the best I can. Anyhow, hope to meet some AZ banisters. I'm flying into SD from AZ on the 19th and and doing preop and banding on the 20th and leaving the 22nd. Jazzy

HI April Surgery patients, I just scheduled my surgery for April 20th and have to say I was really nervous about getting it done in Mexico. I went an saw a Dr here in AZ and it was going to cost me $16500 to get it done. I was going to spend the money and do it but after doing a search on the Internet found a this website about Dr Ortiz that talked about the fact that he had pioneered it here in the US and many other places. And there on the website was a picture of Dr Ortiz and the Dr I had just seen here in AZ. So then I talked to my hubby and my mother who has had plastic surgery in Mexico and we were convinced this is the way to go. So now I have to lose 30lbs by surgery day and since Wed when I booked my appt I am done 5.5lbs lets just hope I can do the other 24.5 lbs. I am so scared and excited at the same time. Now I feel like its the waiting game. I wish I could just go and do it tomorrow and be done with it. But Dr said I had to lose the wait first. I went to bed starving last night. But I feel its something I really want then I'm going to do everything I can to be able to get it. Wish you all great success! Janet - AZ
