  1. Thanks to both of you for your replies. I just had my first class yesterday and I would hate to have had to drop out. Kathy
  2. It took my until my third fill to feel the restriction I needed to really take off. The other thing it took was getting out and walking. Diet alone won't do it. If you are making the right food choices, and getting the daily exercise that you should be getting, then you will lose the weight. Keep working at it - this thing is hard but it works and it's worth it. I've had the band a little over a year and I've lost almost 100lbs. I can finally say I'm under 200lbs (it has been almost 25 years since I could say that). If I can do this - Anyone can, Kathy
  3. Amber, You are not alone. Look at all of the people on this forum! I got my band about a year ago and I have lost almost 100lbs at this point. Someday, not too far in the future, you will too. My weight loss seemed to come slower then I expected but now I'm glad. My skin is shrinking as I lose weight, my energy level is great and I have so much more confidence in myself. As far as being alone, My husband and I just moved to Bangkok, Thailand - I have been here one week. I'm looking to the computer forums as a form of support for this issue. I also took a different approach then most seem to be taking. I told people what I had done if they asked me how I was losing the weight. I have found almost everyone to be supportive and positive about the whole thing. Before I left my job, I had several girl friends that would call me up almost everyday to see if I wanted to share a lunch with them. My husband always walks with me to show his support (he has lost over 30lbs just helping me). I have spoken to 8 or 9 people who are looking for help with their weight to tell them about the surgery and why I decided to get banded rather than going with bypass. Remember - You are never alone unless you choose to be. Good luck, Kathy
  4. I had the lapband put in place a little over a year ago and I have really done great. I am down about 100 pounds and starting to take on new, fun activities. My husband and I want to get certified to dive. Is it OK to scuba dive with the lapband??? Are there any possible problems and/or issues that I need to be aware of?
