Amber,
You are not alone. Look at all of the people on this forum! I got my band about a year ago and I have lost almost 100lbs at this point. Someday, not too far in the future, you will too. My weight loss seemed to come slower then I expected but now I'm glad. My skin is shrinking as I lose weight, my energy level is great and I have so much more confidence in myself.
As far as being alone, My husband and I just moved to Bangkok, Thailand - I have been here one week. I'm looking to the computer forums as a form of support for this issue. I also took a different approach then most seem to be taking. I told people what I had done if they asked me how I was losing the weight. I have found almost everyone to be supportive and positive about the whole thing. Before I left my job, I had several girl friends that would call me up almost everyday to see if I wanted to share a lunch with them. My husband always walks with me to show his support (he has lost over 30lbs just helping me). I have spoken to 8 or 9 people who are looking for help with their weight to tell them about the surgery and why I decided to get banded rather than going with bypass.
Remember - You are never alone unless you choose to be.
Good luck,
Kathy
