Am scheduled for fill Tues June 26th at Noon. Am flying in and out the same day- am considering the trolley/taxi thing, but worried about it as it will be tight to coordinate- so likely will use Francisco. If anyone is interested in sharing him- that would be great! Wow am I sick of liquids...ready for something to chew!

I am writing this from the computer station here in hospital after just having my lap band done a few hours ago. everything went great...everyone is so friendly, and the place is immaculate...cleaner than in the states. They have most things you would need- but reading material, ipods, games (all stuff I brought as well) really help.The hotel room is fabulous and already has an iron, ironing board, and hairdryer in it, along with soap, shampoo, show shine kit and shower cap! There are 2 restaurants in the hotel open until midnight- so you can get something to eat whenever- and there is room service. The TV in the hotel has cable wich is a mix of Spanish and American TV- has HBO and Cinemax, as well as standard American primetime networks. The TV in the hosital is DirectTv and has all the channels. Each person with their own private room and TV. I have my cell phone (Cingular) and it works just fine. I did bring my laptop with a Cingular PC card- and it has not been able to work yet- but only tried it once.

There are 3 recommended pre-op diets, one takes 7 days and seems to be mostly a liquid diet, one is 12 days- liquid mixed with power bars and lean cuisine type meals, and one is 3 weeks and is basically the Atkins Induction Diet (I will probably choose this one as I have the time). With airfare, it will probably run about $9k.

Hello Everyone! I have been lurking in this forum for some time while I researched my options for Lap-Band Surgery, and today I sent in my forms and deposit, and am scheduled with Dr. Ortiz for 5/14/07. I am a bit nervous (the whole Mexico thing), but all the posts here about how great the experience is, have really helped to set my mind at ease. I am hoping to get some others who may be having surgery about the same time, as well as others who have gone through it! My partner had gastric bypass in May 2006, and has gone from a high of 343, to a current weight of 187- and so now I am the "fat" one...and I decided I want to get healthy again! Thanks! >
