Well, I didn't think that there was much pain at all, and the only pain I really did have was from the gas pains. Honestly, I am not big on pain, and this was much less painful than a headache. I lost the weight I was expected to, but that part wasn't too much fun...... Luckily for obese people though, those first several pounds do come off without too much effort. You can do it. You can loose the 13 pounds, knowing that the payoff will be many more tens of pounds, and that the surgery isn't terribly painful......... Infact, I was back to wearing a girdle, and jeans at the end of the first week. For my program, the liquid diet portion is for two weeks after surgery. I think the liquid diet leaves a lot to be desired flavor wise, but it is neccessary, and not too hard to stick to. Best of luck to you.

I am very happy to have found this forum. I've been searching for something like this for a while now. I live in Nebraska, and was banded here on March 26. I have been on many diets, but never had enough umph to take off a hundred pounds or so . It is my opinion that traditional diets are for people who only need to take off ten to twenty pounds. This was my last option, since gastric bypass was not for me. Currently a week and a half out from surgery, and I feel great! The gas pains were moderate, and lasted for about a week. The incisions were fairly painless, and day to day movements were uncensored (except for the 20 lb. weight restriction). The only bad pain I felt was the emotional one of "why didn't I do this years ago?" The one strange phenonomen to me was that on surgery day I weighed in at 263, but when I got home I had gained seven pounds. I assume from the swelling. As the swelling subsided, my weight quickly decreased to 250! Although the liquid diet leaves a lot to be desired, it hasn't been terribly difficult for me to adhere to. That being said, I look forward to sinking my teeth into some baby food which is coming right up. At any rate, I am filled with hope and optimisim right now, and wanted to introduce myself.
