  1. Have you tried their white tea with Raspberry? It is really good too! I have been drinking the different Lipton tea's as well. Thank god I found a substitute for diet Pepsi. In all honesty, I think beer will be the thing I miss the most (I was a home brewer) but it's worth the sacrifice because I won't miss being fat.... As far as the wine goes, I started working to acquire a taste for wine about 6 months before the surgery (I never really liked it) and now I find my palate is developing an apprication for the nuances in wine that I was never able to notice before. I have not had any yet though, I figure I will wait till at least 4 weeks after my surgery to have any alcohol at all. I wish I would of known not to try that damn little piece of fish though, now I am fearing band slippage. (who would of thought such a tiny thing could cause so much discomfort)
  2. Ok, I will stick with the liquids. I was just going by what my surgeon said, "if it can slide off a spoon you can have it" I figured fish mush would work.... My bad So, what if I ran some chicken salad through a blender? any other recommendations for meals? I am feeling a little better this morning. Most of my discomfort is just at the port site and I finally passed gas for the first time (gigantic) and that seemed to relieve some of the discomfort, but I am still constipated, gonna take something for that as soon as the store opens. (Turns out I was supposed to be up and walking 2 hours after the surgery but the nurses let me sleep for like 6) Thanks. P.S. How do you know if you slip your band?
  3. I just had mine done here in Nevada, the nurses and surgeon were great and everything only cost around 8k (in reno). Fortunately I have insurance and my copay was only 250 bucks. I did have to pay additional 125 for the dietician and 300 for the psych (I found out from a friend later that he got both of those done for 1/2 the price, I shoulda talked to him first) so my total out of pocket so far is just under 1k. I have told a few of my closest friends and my immediate family (kinda hard to keep it secret from people when your sister in law works in the recovery ward at that hospital ) but I am keeping it a secret from some of my long time friends that live back east. I want to surprise them when I come home for Christmas next year. I am not hiding it from shame, just to see the look on their faces. I think I screwed up today, on the way home I ate a small (half of a MacDonalds french fry sized) piece of fish and now I feel chest pain and no desire to eat, but I can drink ok. I will stick with broth for the next few days I think. Thank god for my wife, without her support this would be a near impossible task, I hope you have good luck with your surgery and hopefully you can find a buddy that has had the procedure to share info with and support. Several of my co-workers have had this done which is what made me decide to do it, so I have a large built in support group. Sorry if this post is rambling, I just had a shot of roxicet for pain as where I have my valve is very swollen and sore. I will keep you guys posted as things go on. Starting weight 324.5 two week liquid diet weight day of surgery: 309.5 day after surgery 312.5 (still can't figure this out, maybe due to lack of BM for 3 days)
  4. I got banded yesterday and I just got home from the hospital today after an overnight stay. I stopped at Sams club on the way home to get some chewable vitamins and whatnot and while I was there they had a sale on a fish called Talapia, I bought some after trying a small piece, it was very moist and tasty, (about half the size of a Macdonald's French fry) and almost immediately after I became nauseous and almost threw up. I chewed it till it as mush and figured it would be ok. I am still having chest pain and no appetite like 6 or 7 hours later. Is this normal? My Doc told me I could have anything that could slide off a spoon so I thought fish mush would be ok but obviously I need to wait longer. If this is a blockage would I still be able to drink plenty because I can. Or am I just still real sensitive due to the surgery? All I had today (besides the bite of fish) was about 4 teaspoons of oatmeal for breakfast and some broth for lunch. I have been having weird little burps as well. I used to be able to burp on command but now its kinda difficult and painful. Any tips on what to eat and avoid as well as general information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Zero
