  1. Hello. I used Dr. Aceves. He is a great Dr. The hospital room was a little more warm than I am used to but they switched me to another room and it was better...still not cool though. If you are hot-blooded like me, you might want to request a fan as soon as you get there. The hospital room was nicer than the hotel room though. Both were adequate. Are you from NC? I am from Hickory, NC. The trip back from San Diego on my second day after my band surgery was a little soon for me. It was a very cramped flight and I was very sore so it wasn't real pleasant. Also, I was absolutely starving. The jello and broth passed directly through my band and left my stomach rumbling like crazy. Also, broth and jello aren't readily available in the airport so you may need to take something with you. I will be happy to answer any of your questions...just let me know.
  2. HELLO. I AM IN HICKORY, NC. ARE YOU GOING TO MX TO GET YOUR FILLS OR HAVE YOU FOUND SOMEONE IN NC TO DO IT??? ANYBODY ELSE OUT THERE FROM NORTH CAROLINA???
  3. Anybody know a fill doctor in the SE? NC, SC, TN, VA? Let me know if you have found someone good or not?
  4. I was told that my band is a 10.0cm so I am not familiar with the VG band. The nurse told me that it is a small band so I should be feeling some restriction. I ate a bowl of soup for lunch and I did not feel any restriction. I thought that you would not feel much restriction until you were able to eat thicker liquids and soft solids because your band lets clear liquids pass through it. Is this true?
  5. I have diarhea, too. I am 7 days post-op and I have had diarhea for a few days now. I am guessing that it is all of the liquids that we are taking in but if you find out that this is a problem...let me know.
  6. When did you have your surgery? Tomorrow will be a week for me and I have been starving also. The nurses kept telling me that I had head hungers but I don't think that head hungers make my stomach growl. I know what starving feels like and that's how I feel also. I decided that I could not take the clear liquids another day so I ate some watered down cream of chicken soup (I did not eat the chicken pieces) but I feel so much better now. Also, I bought some sugar-free popsicles and I feel like they are a treat. They make me feel like a kid again. I was hoping someone else was starving because everything that I have seen posted...nobody says they are starving. I am glad I read your today. Yesterday, my daughter was confirmed at church and my mother-in-law had a big barbeque for the family. I had to sit there with shoulder pain from the gas and sip some soup. It was miserable! There was chips n dip (my favorite), barbeque and all of the fixins including cake! So...believe me...I feel your pain!
  7. My doctor Dr Aceves said that some patients leak a yellowish liquid and or blood colored liquied from their port incision. This has something to do with your bodies reaction to the plastic that the bad is made from. He told me that it is actually melted fat and will stain or close but it is not infected. You will know if you have an infection because you will have a fever and the port incision will be red. Hope this helps!
  8. This is a great list. I wish I would have had it before my surgery. I had my surgery on Tuesday, May 22nd. I guess that makes me 4 days post-op. I am having trouble distinguishing the head hungers from the real hungers. When my stomach is growling and I feel like I am starving...does this mean that I am really hungry? This hunger is my biggest surprise. I thought that my band would magically make my hunger disappear. I was wrong. Now I understand that the clear liquids that I am on for the first ten days do not stay in my pouch long enough for me to feel hungry. I am hoping that when I get to the thicker liquids and mushies that I will not feel so hungry. Any advice out there to help me feel less starved...please help!
