  1. Please let us know how you are Caroline, we miss you! > :lb18: :lb4: Darlene
  2. Thanks again all! I'm going to look into the books by Roth, they maybe helpful. I did re-read over Dr. O's book and nothing really jumped out at me for my situation. Let me ask you all a question..... Do you think that we HAVE to have some deep dark reason for our overeating? I feel [i'm not sure] but I feel I overeat because I totally enjoy food. I love the taste, texture,.... just flat out love food and love to eat. Does it have to be because of some mental problem or childhood [or adult] trauma? And believe me, I can understand why those things could and have pushed people to food, [i don't want anyone to think I'm being a smarta$$, I wouldn't do that] I remember Oprah saying that you have to find the reason you overeat and deal with that first.... in my opinion, she ain't dealin' too well!!! I LOVE FOOD AND LOVE TO OVEREAT.... now, how do I deal with that? P.S. I LOVE YOU GUYS!!
  3. Mine feels like the size of an egg cut in half. [Hard to decribe] I had my first fill a little over a week ago and Doc says everthing's fine. It probably feels different on everyone, depending on your weight. If I poke at mine, it actually hurts so I try not to mess with it too much. [Of course I'm a sissy though ]
  4. That was a question that I asked Caroline when I was first looking into getting banded and she said it's supposed to last your life time [Lap band for life... Dr.O's book] I guess aside from any complications that would make you have to have it removed. Hope that helped, Darlene
  5. Thanks ladies for your kind words..... that's why I love this forum! I did read Dr. O's book last year but will pull it out and read it again [maybe it'll give me the kick in the rear that I need!] As I sit here typing this, my stomach hurts because at about 8:30 this morning [about 3 and a half hrs. ago] I ate 4, yes 4 pieces of jelly toast for breakfast!! I made 2, woofed them down in about 30 seconds and made and ate 2 more!! I've been sipping on ice water for the last hr or so. I'm not hungry, as a matter of fact, I'm in quite a bit of discomfort but I know shortly that I'll be out in the kitchen hunting for something to eat for lunch. I will get out Dr. O's book and read and hopefully I'll find the answer for me. Thanks SO much!! Darlene
  6. I've been banded since 3-25 and can't stop the over-eating habit, addiction or whatever term it is.... I had hoped once I was banded that it would MAKE me eat less therefore I'd lose weight. Not working that way!! I suck so!! My addiction to food is so strong that it makes me wonder [and worry] if I'll ever get past it. Why do I feel that I have to eat EVERYTHING I see and have huge portions? What's wrong with my brain that I think this way? Why do I have to have 2 sandwhiches instead of 1? Why do I have to pile my plate with big portions of everything that I make for a meal and force it all down? I truely don't even enjoy my food cause I'm too worried about how much more I can cram in my face! WHY??!! Maybe if I understood I could deal with it, but I truely don't know why. I don't regret a moment of being banded but am wondering if I've wasted my time and more importantly, money that I could've used for my family. Anyone want to crawl around in my head for a few minutes.... watch out for the tumbleweeds!! Sorry to be such a bummer. I wish I could figure this out. Thanks for reading my little tantrum. :lb12:
  7. Hello Kimmy, I'm still looking [every day!] for a fill Doc in Pa. I take it that Dr. Brinkley doesn't use fluro? Is the $200 a total price? [some Doc's charge a first time fee, then fill fee's] Thanks!! Darlene
  8. :lb9: :lb10: You'll feel better soon.... promise!! Darlene
  9. Maybe your stomach still has some swelling , just being 4 weeks post-op. A fellow bandster, Laurie, had the same thing. She had trouble with alot of foods and had to be careful. She was told it was excessive swelling. She got her first fill last week and she STILL had some restriction BEFORE her fill! Funny how different we all are!!
  10. Hi Lisa Who did your fills? How many cc's do you have total? I got my first fill at the OCC and got 1.8cc. I don't have much restriction and what I do have comes and go's. I know everyone's different, but they're REALLY different!! The only thing I have trouble with, sometimes, is bread. Gotta make sure I chew it really well or I get that "stuck" feeling. I've been getting discouraged the past few days because I know I'm eating too much.....
  11. I only had that feeling a few days. My gut didn't get real bloated, but it took me 6 days to have a BM. I had the pain in my shoulder for about 10 days though. Hopefully someone has some answers for you, you must be miserable! Make sure you're getting enough to drink and you should be getting around 1200 cals per day. Best wishes, Darlene
  12. Not sure about the stuck feeling with soup... I never had a problem with any of the soups. Now the burping thing... I burp almost every time I bend over! I never could force myself to burp, but if I feel like I have one in there I bend over a few times and it comes right out. Not sure if it'll work for everyone, but worth a try. Darlene
  13. Did you happen to tell the Pa. one that the Ohio and Mich. WILL do them? Just wondered what their reaction was... It's been a real pain to try to find a doc close by, not sure what I'll do. Unless airline prices start going down, I can't see myself going back to Mexico any time soon. I'm not good at driving in strange cities, maybe the bus or train. Thanks Mona!
  14. We just took our daughter last week for my fill and all we needed was her BC. I have no photo ID for her, she's 11. I had no problems, no questions asked. You won't need passport's for anyone until June of '09. Have a nice trip, our daughter LOVED IT!!
  15. Thanks for the reply Elaine! I just recieved a call from Barix Clinic in Laghorne Pa. and the nurses exact words were... " Our surgeons will not touch a patient banded in Mexico!" [i did tell them it was done by Dr. Ortiz] Scratch that one off the list....
  16. I watched it when it orginally aired, but would like to tape it this time. GO BANDSTERS!! :lb13: :lb16: :good2:
  17. Thanks Jann! I went to have my fill last week and didn't inquire about the whitening. I was afraid that it wouldn't match. My dentist was going to to it then match my fillings afterwards but he charges $500 for the whitening [which I'd have to pay for] then the cost of the fillings which would be reimbursed. He'd probably be pissed if I showed up and asked him to just fix my fillings....
  18. Bless your heart Caroline!! Please keep us updated!!! You are in our prayers [said one while I was typing!] You are in the best hands, so no worries there Leave a note on the forum as soon as you can. Hugs, Darlene
  19. Just wondering.... are the fills with fluro???
  20. :lb5: :cheerleader: :kiss2: :drinks: HAPPY BIRTHDAY YOU SWEETHEART YOU!!! DARLENE
  21. Hello, I just had my first fill done at the OCC last week and from all the reading I've done, I don't think I'd get a fill without fluro. I'm a worrier and I'd have myself worried sick. Are you noticing any restriction now? I only have 1.8cc in mine and I feel some restriction with some foods, bread being one of them. Give this one some time to settle in and keep us updated!! Best wishes, Darlene
  22. Thanks Bandgroupie, I wrote to Barix in Langhorne, Pa. and ask if they'd do fills for me and the cost. I'll post what they say. I'm hoping for a fill center closer to home. I wish I could afford to keep going back to Mexico, I love the OCC!! Darlene
  23. They'll go down girls, I swear!! :lb18: Your body has gone through major surgery.... it needs time to calm down. I didn't get on the scale for about 1 week after my surgery and I only lost 2 lbs. I wasn't disappointed though, I actually want my weight to come off slow and steady. I lost weight really fast a few years ago on LA Weight Loss and gained it all back in a short time. I've been averaging a pound every 2 weeks and I'm satisfied. Just relax girls, following the Doc's instructions and it'll happen. =D> Hugs, Darlene
  24. Mona, you sweetheart you!! I have 4 cats myself and I know how you feel! Please don't feel bad about putting him down, he would have suffered badly and you and your Mom saved your brudder from that. I took my Gram to have her cat, Kat, put to sleep on Valentines Day 1993 and it was SO hard. I kept telling Gram that she did the right thing [he had cancer also] and I still believe that till this day. You said the same thing that I say to my cats every day... I love you SO!! Forget about the chocolate chips... it's a new day! > Sending much love, Darlene
  25. :lb10: I got my first fill 6 days ago and my restriction comes and go's. I can't wait till I have a good fill that'll force me to slow down my eating [ I too shovel my food in] Maybe fill #2 will be my sweet spot. Congrats again!! :cheerleader: :good3:
