  1. Leslie, I didn't get your message! Crap! Did you send it to raven_2930@yahoo.com? Don't worry girl, we'll figure this out! No way you have to feel like you're going alone. Nancy
  2. Hi Leslie! I think Joanna and I arrive in San Diego around 5 p.m. (I don't have my itinerary in front of me at the moment). Of course we'd love to meet you. Send me an e-mail to raven_2930@yahoo.com and we'll coordinate details. I'm really getting excited to go! Nancy
  3. Hi No Worry, Thank you for your thorough, interesting and informative posts. I appreciate the way you approach and solve issues with facts, logic and science. I'm extremely analytical myself so this is my preferred language to speak. I'm definitely a thinking rather than a feeling personality type. In fact, one way I eased my boyfriend's mind over my upcoming Aug. 6 procedure was by explaining to him the scientific research and thinking process I had done prior to making this decision. I didn't do this because I "felt" it was the right thing to do, although that is certainly the case. I will have this surgery because I believe it is the most viable intervention to what I believe are significant health risks due to a family history of obesity and related conditions. Thanks again and keep posting!
  4. My friend Joanna and I are both traveling from Oregon to get our bands put on August 6. Good luck to all of my fellow August patients! Are you all as excited as I am? I hope so! Nancy PS: My BF is really worried, despite all my attempts to reassure him. Anyone else have a nervous spouse/partner?
  5. Thanks for sharing on a "sensitive" topic everyone. I guess every experience is different. I'm not going to allow myself to worry about it and just wait and see what happens when I've lost the weight. I've never had children so I have really good tone now, maybe that will help. Thanks again! Nancy
  6. Hey everyone, I'm getting banded on August 6 and I can't wait. I know this may sound a little woo-woo, but I honestly believe that what we focus on and project to the universe is what we will receive. So I'm focuing and believing that my surgery will go perfectly and my weight loss will be very sucessful. I'm a Buddhist, so doing this kind of focused thinking/meditation/etc. is part of my belief system. Whatever you need to do to remain positive, do it! Pray, chant, meditate, cut out pictures from the Victorias Secret catalog and put them on your bathroom mirror knowing that will be you... don't let anything negative creep into your thinking and sabotage your efforts for a full and happy life. I'll be sending energy for peace of mind your way. Nancy
  7. Way to go! You are rockin' that bikini! You're great inspiration for me; my surgery is one month from today -- Aug 8. =D> Nancy
  8. OK, I'm embarassed to post this but I have to know. Probably one of my biggest fears of losing weight is losing my breast size/tone/shape (which I love right now). I'm terrified I'll need some kind of procedure. I've looked at the before/after pictures after LAP weight loss and some of them are pretty scary. I've been doing research and everything I've read says that breast surgeries have a risk of loss of nipple sensation. I have a friend who had an augmentation and she totally lost all sensation until about midway up her breast. I can't even imagine how awful that would be! Has anyone had a procedure and experienced this side effect? If you don't want to post on the forum, e-mail me at raven_2930@yahoo.com. Thanks, Nancy
  9. Hi Judy, How great! Another Oregonian on this forum! I'm from West Linn, which is about 25 minutes south of Portland. My friend Joanna is coming with me to get banded at the same time and she's in Sellwood. Where are you? We should keep in touch and share our experiences. I'm exactly one month away from surgery and I can't wait! When are you going back! Congrats on your weight loss so far; that's great! I hope we can meet sometime and share an appetizer, lol. If you want to e-mail me, you can at raven_2930@yahoo.com. Take care, Nancy
  10. Thanks so much Rhonda! I may just take you up on your kind offer to e-mail questions. I'm trying to think of everything in advance; this forum has really helped. Best of luck on your progress! Nancy
  11. Hi everyone, I'm scheduled for my surgery on August 6 (can't wait!) but I was wondering a few things: 1. We're not supposed to drink the water in Mexico so how can I know that I can get a safe, clear liquid diet while at the hotel Lucerna? What did you all drink afterward? Did you bring your own stuff and if so, what did you bring? 2. Are there any restrictions as far as how much weight you can lift after surgery? I plan on packing very light but it sounds like we don't get help with bag handling going back to US. 3. How about the flight home? Any complications? I live in Oregon so the flight's not bad. 4. What did you wish you knew before you were banded/went to TJ? Thanks so much!
  12. OOPS I meant to type Aug. 6. I guess I really am excited to do this!
  13. I'm so excited, I scheduled my surgery! A friend is coming with me; we're both doing it. I'm so happy and thankful to have such a great friend to share this experience with. I need to drop 12# by then; yikes! Just wanted to say I enjoy reading all your posts and love your positive energy.
  14. Hi Everyone, I'm in what I would describe as the final stages of scheduling a surgery at OCC. I'm 99% there. I'm also doing this in total secrecy except for telling my sister and a friend in case of emergency. As far as anyone knows I'll be on vacation. Any advice? What do you wish you would have known prior to surgery? What should I do to make my experience easier? And what the heck does PB mean? I read your posts with great interest and congratulate you all on just trying. I was watching "America's Got Talent" (hate to admit that) and there was an 80 yr old woman who got up on stage and sang. She was so great and gutsy. At the end she said, "You never know what tomorrow will bring so why not try?" Yep, that made me cry. Any advice is appreciated, Incognito and hopefully new girl soon!
