  1. I USED A DR IN MAPLE VALLEY, WA, I'M IN THE AUBURN/FW AREA, AND WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS. ANOTHER GAL ON THE BOARD HERE USED HIM ALSO AND WAS THRILLED :)

Hey Pammie, It's Christine up in Snohomish. Glad to see you on the board. Have not seen any washington get togethers lately. sounds like you are doing good are you going to the northwest fill dinner in edmonds this weekend? Christine

  2. I had the surgery a year ago when my daughter was 13. She was scared for the fact that I was having surgery in mexico. She is overweight as well but her self esteem is so high that it does not bother her. This surgery will effect your whole family. Doing things that involve her friends if they do not know that you had the surgery. Perhaps the two of you could read things on this forum together and discuss it. My daughter now teases me when we go out to eat. She bets me on how much I will eat. Involve her and ask for her opinions helps both of you.Teenagers are allowed to give you opinions and suggestions to make them feel that you do listen to them.Good luck and give her positive reinforcement and it will work out. Please above all do what you feel is best for you. C

  3. I am sorry that the purpose of this forum is being used for "tough love" that is not what these people need. I have had my band for over a year. Although I am not a teen I would like you to understand that age does not matter in how we all react differently to the band. This tool has different effects. What you can and can't eat how you handle your fills and unfills and emotions. My husband was at a point where he wanted me to get the band taken out because of the continous vomiting while I figured out different things I could eat. One day food goes down and the next day the same thing does not work. We all have to learn what works for us. Please get to the first fill before you get so upset with getting this surgery. Try to eat everything at least once just remember to chew and eat slow. My family eats so fast that I feel guilty when I am hardly 1/2 way through and they are waiting for me but they say enjoy your food and we have great discussions about life instead of rushing to be done and get one to life.It will be better when you get to a happy weight for you just be positive.

  4. Hi , I have been to Dr. Neal's office a number of times for fills and unfills. The prices are expensive at $350 but they do use floro so they cansee your band and watch to make sure that they do not put into much. They only do fills on tuesdays and thursdays and it takes a couple of weeks to get an appoitment. Hope this will help you hope you are not roasting in portland with the heat this week. Chris

  5. ><' Hello all long time no talk. I had all of my fluid removed and went to Europe for 6 weeks oh what fun to be able to eat all of that food pizza and bread oh. Downside I gained 10 pounds but went to Dr Neal last week and have dropped 5 pounds so doing ok. This process is slow but the weight does come off so keep good thoughts and all will go along. Chrissy

  6. This was a guestion that we went back and forth on this forum awhile ago. It is ok to have bubbles if you want them after 6 months. I have been banded almost a year and i have had both beer and soda. It does not taste the same and also it seems to make a difference in how it reacts if is is out of a machine or a bottle. I like to try it every now and then but it just is not the same. The calories and gas are not worth the trouble and i can't eat for awhile after I drink carbonation so it is a waste. Tea is my new addiction for drinks. I saw that crystal lite just came out with fruit punch ya

  7. :-h Hello Washington bandters!

I have read all of the your post's and I think it is about time that I say Hi! I read all the post before I was banded and thought how nice it will be to have a support group once banded. Well that time has come. I was banded by Dr. Ortiz on 2/27/07. Everything went really well and I can't believe that after all the pre-op stuff I am banded! It all went so fast.

Tomorrow is my first day that I and eat real food again. And I have to tell you I don't know where to start. After not eating "normal" foods for about 6 weeks it is hard. What did everyone else start with? Did you fine any foods that you could just not eat?

Well I just wanted to say hello. I would love to meet with all of you when you have your next meeting. I live in Vancouver, WA so it would be a drive to come up there but well worth it. I have a friend that I can stay with in Lacey WA.

I look forward to meeting all of you!

    Christy in Vancouver WA

  8. M, glad to hear you are ok I just read your story about the overfill. I am glad that you had a good expierence with Dr. Neal I was there on Thursday. I can't wait to see and talk to all of you tommorrow. The balloon sounds good. How many this time? I had such a goodtime down in the bar area maybe we can try that again. See you all at 2. Can't wait Chrissy

  9. Hey I had a fill and it was very tight for about a week. One day I could eat or drink fine and the next day nothing. It is a hit and miss. Just be sure to take little bites and chew chew chew. I am better after 6 days. Do not drink hot chocolate in the morning it does not seem to stay down. good luck and hopefully it will get better.

  10. I can not for the life of me get asparagas down. it is the worst feeling because it is so stringy. Bread is pretty much a no no and forget french fires. The thing is that everybody seems different in what they can and can not eat and you might be able to eat it one day and not the next so it is just a learning proces. I have had my band 8 months and fo not regert one minute of it except when I am throwing up something that does not work that is the worst feeling. Good luck
