CharlesSD
Hey Folks. I am getting scheduled for VSG surgery with Dr. Ortiz. Dr. Ortiz placed my band and removed my band. I was very successful on the band, but ultimately had to have it removed due to repeated slips after about 2 years. It's been about 1.5 years since the band removal, and I have re-gained more than half my loss. So, while I have great faith in Dr. Ortiz overall, experience with a particular procedure does count for a lot. Anyone know how many VSG or Bypass procedures he has performed? --Mike
skinnyagain
I think that is a question for Dr. Ortiz! Kim

ButterflyBandita
Hi Iv, I'm super interested to learn more about what your impressions are between the 2 procedures. What was your starting weight with the band? What made you decide to switch? How have things been so far with the sleeve? Numbers, etc?
thinagainandforever
Mike, I don't know the exact number, but I think it's alot more than some people (loyal to other surgeons) are claiming. But I can tell you that I had the sleeve done on July 12 and was completely impressed by Dr.'s Ortiz and Martinez, and the entire staff. Everyone was completely professional, knowledgable, and willing to address my many questions and concerns. Five days out and I'm feeling fine and looking forward to watching the pounds melt away. Personally, I went straight to the sleeve. I read up and researched alot and decided for me that the sleeve was the right way to go -- I wanted to have one procedure and not have to follow up with adjustments, fills, etc. I have no issue with this not being reversible; once I'm thin again, I'd like to stay that way forever! Best of luck.
