North Louisiana

I live in East Texas and I went to Tijuana to get mine done, and would do it again. I do know that there is a surgery center in Shreveport that specializes in the lap band surgery. The cost in Mexico was about $10K including airfare. The cost at the surgery center was going to be around $25K. I don't know what the service is like at the Shreveport office, but the service in Mexico was better than I could have ever dreamed of. Hope this help.

Hello,

can anyone reccomend where to have the surgery done?

Also what are the average costs involved?

thank you

Joey

Joey,

I am involved with a highly recommended surgeon in Little Rock, AR. Not sure how far you are from Little Rock but I think the AR/LA border is about 3 hours or so. The cost is around $18,000.00 and the fills are $175.00.

I am having mine done in Slidell (south louisiana) by Surgical Specialists of Lousiana.

They have offices in Covington, Lafayette, Metaire and Baton Rouge. If any of those places wouldnt be too far a drive. They also do the surgery in Covington, slidell, lafayette, baton rouge or metaire as well.

I am cash pay (no insurance) and it is costing me $13,500 and that includes 1 year of fills. If you call them they can explain all the costs or 'extra' costs over the phone. So far I have had to partially pay for my bloodwork (my insurance covered a little of that) and vitamins and my intitial visit (was $125 for visit + psych eval written test :)

their website is http://www.whyweight.com/ And i am using Dr. Lavin. Both my mother and sister were banded by him and he comes highly recommended.

If your insurance won't cover it and you have to do a cash pay, that 13,500 is the discounted cash pay price they ask. Also it moves along VERY quickly if you are cash pay and not waiting on approval from insurance. 1st appointment->surgery is around 4-6 weeks.
