I am scheduled to be banded at the end of this month. I will be having it on Monday and flying back on Wednesday. I have about six hours of flying and of course a lay over in Atlanta. Total trip is about 8 hours each way. Just curious on any tips or issues.... Thanks

I was just banded 3/31/10 - I live 2 hours away so my travel wasn't an issue. I didn't have any pain, a little discomfort that's all. My procedure was done on wednesday, we went home friday. I drove directly to the mall and had my nails filled, walked around for about an hour, then went home. Saturday, I mopped the kitchen, did the laundry and piddled around the house all day. Still a little discomfort, but no real pain. I wouldn't worry about your travel, focus on your procedure, your recovery and your new habits. My discomfort really comes from the swelling / bloating. GOOD LUCK

My surgery was done on a Tuesday and on Thursday I flew from San Diego to New Orleans, and then another hour ride in the car to get home. It was fine. The pain pills they give you are nice, because they aren't too strong and they dissolve under your tongue. You only get like 4 though, but there are pharmacies everywhere and you could go get another box without a prescription or anything. I took one right before flying, but really the discomfort was very mild anyway, and I probably would have done fine without any pain med.
