  1. Hi Amy,

I haven't booked a flight yet so right now it's flexible. I'd take the trolley with you since you seem so familiar with it! What time are you flying in? What time is your fill?

    Thanks

    Karen

Hi Karen: I am scheduled for an unfill for the morning of the 14th. What time does your plane arrive? We could either do the trolley thing (I've done it many times) or my family could drive us down to the boarder and we could catch a taxi from there. We are going to be on vacation so we are already there with a rental car. Let me know...Amy in Utah

Hey, what happen to the yahoo board. I went to get on and it had disappeared!

  2. Hi Miriam,

Overall my experience was great at the OCC. There were a couple issues that really bugged me when I was there but I got over them. First, the driver at the airport was not at our gate, he was down the way a bit and by chance we found him after waiting a while. Second, I was never told what time I was going to be picked up on the day of surgery from the hotel and this caused a lot of confusion for me and Mrs. Ortiz. Also, I was only given half the pack of disolvable pain killers when I left. I did talk to Rene before I left but he forgot to send them to the hotel so that really upset me. Last, we were picked up so early on the day to go home that I had to wait at the airport for almost 6 hours which was awful because I was naseous (sp) and had major gas pains the whole time.

Lori, I have actually been meaning to let you know these things but kind of forgot til now. Everything else was great, especially my experience at the clinic the day of and after, so I didn't want to bug you about it.

Anyway, not trying to worry you Miriam but you kind of got me thinking about good/bad things about OCC. But the main thing is that I was impressed and happy and would recommend the OCC to friends and family.

  3. Hi Shayne,

Are you worried about missing your "friend" food? I know that's why I had second thoughts. I am only 1 week post-op and although I am not having a fun time on liquids, I am happy that I took this step. You really need to decide what you are worrying about and decide if it's a big enough worry to call it off. Good luck!

  4. Thanks guys.

Today is better. I did lose like 7 pounds since surgery so that did make me feel better this morning. I think part of it is missing food. I knew ahead of time, but it really hits you, doesn't it? Plus my 4 year old is very suspicious of my weird eating and I know I am confusing him! I think I'll survive with thinned out soups and I didn't even think to try hot chocolate! Definitely will. Thanks for the encouraging comments! It is nice to know others go through the same thing and survived!

  5. Hi all,

5 days post-op and I am regretting this. (I know it's a phase though). I have been in mild-medium pain since surgery and since yesterday starving. Since Dr. M said we could do "real" liquids on day 4 if we HAD to, I had a couple slim fast shakes, popsicles, etc. Today was worse and my stomach was freaking out, seriously hungry. I had a bowl of creamy potato soup that I strained so that it was only liquid no chunks at all. Is this awful? It did make me feel better but I am still unhappy!! Has anyone else done this? Did I mess up my band? I hope Dr M does not read this! I feel physically fine though no weird stomach issues. I keep reading that it gets easier but I am miserable!

  6. I had both pre-op and surgery yesterday.

I guess they had 6 bands they placed yesterday so it was kinda crazy around here! Lots of excitement. I feel really great, a little bit of pain around the incisisions but mostly when using my tummy muscles to sit or stand. Everyone here went beyond my expecations, funny, nice, listened to you, kept you updated, etc. I felt really comfortable here and still do.

Yea! 21 days of liquids... at least some of them are interesting liquids.

Good luck to everyone coming up in September!

    You'll do great

  7. Hey mystery,

I know how you feel. I tried doing the pre-op diet earlier than I needed to and I have been really tired this week. (today is my official start day). The caffeine headache is totally normal and should start going away soon. Good luck! Have you been eating lots of green veggies? Dr. Miranda told me it's possible to eat up to 4 lbs of salad or green veggies. Seems like ALOT but it might help to actually chew food and swallow, even if it's veggies!

    Karen

I'm having a heck of a time on the pre-op diet. I've had a headache for 3 days that I can't shake completely. This is probably due to the cold turkey of caffine and severe reduction in caloric intake. I have no energy at all am so tired. On top of that, i'm having to work 12 hour shifts (night shifts) all week up to the morning of my departure (sunday aug 27th). I know its only a few days away but sheesh!

Anyone think it would be ok to have some soup? Im just looking for something close to real food that may give me the needed energy that i need.

I was totaling the numbers the other night and i've cut my caloric intake from almost from probably 3000/3500 calories per day to under 800! No wonder i feel weak ;)

    Thanks!
