  1. Hi!! How did your trip home go? I hope that it was smoother going home then getting to TJ!! Are you feeling good? I am feeling sooo good today and my stomach is almost all the way down. YEAH!! >
  2. Hey Michelle! So funny that you brought this up. I just got banded on the 10th of April and since last Wednesday have lost 10 lbs. I have mixed feelings with the whole "getting skinny" thing. When I was on my last weight loss kick after I had my 2 year old, I got down to 199. (currently 234) I am 5'10 and I had people that have known me my whole life telling me that my face was too thin. I have been overweight my whole life so for them to not see my face round, full and plastered with a uncomfortable smile all the time was weird for them. I am nervous to lose past the 200 mark because of people in my life telling me that I don't need to lose anymore weight and that I look good as I am. I am going to try to get to 175 or where I feel sexy!! I believe that the people (in my family and my friends) that don't want me to get any smaller then a size 14 (that is what size I was at 199) because they are all over weight. I am always the "funny and friendly" girl taking pictures of the "skinny and sexy" girlfriends and I feel like that is they way they like it. I know I am jumping here and there but hopefully it makes sense. I also don't want to set myself up for failure telling myself that I want to be a size 2 and never getting there. Then feeling frustrated and down on myself all over again. I honestly just want to feel sexy and comfortable in my own skin. I am also weighing in a BodPod that breaks things down with how much my bones and muscles weigh and then how much weight is fat. So I am going on that too. Brook PS I think that the biggest losers looked great last night and I am so proud of Ali for winning it! You go girl!!!
  3. When I was talking to Dr. Ortiz before my surgery he told me that he had a lot of Boise bandsters. If there is they don't post very often on here.
  4. Thanks for letting us know! Last night was the first night that I had the shoulder pain and I am glad that it's gone! Brook
  5. Hi there! When I was thinking about doing the surgery I started reading everything available to my eyes. Then I seen the Oprah episode and let my husband watch that. His concern was the same as yours. "What if I lose you on the table? I can't raise our 2 small daughters without you. I love you the way you are. I will help you in the gym. etc." Then we prayed and prayed about it. I continued to read and weigh my options. I could pay less money and get a personal trainer, I could buy a home gym and put it in the basement, pay for someone to make all my meals for a year or get lapband and work it. Then I feel like God kept leading us back to the lapaband option. After I made up my mind I jumped in with both feet and continued to pray about it. I am now 5 days banded and feeling really good. With the pre-op diet and now after the band I am down almost 18 lbs. I am praying everyday for healing and success with the band. Good luck with your decision. I am very happy with everybody at the OCC. > God Bless! Brook
  6. Good Job Lora! I showed my battle wounds to my 4 year old so that she would be a little more careful and she looked and looked and then she asked "what did you fall on mommy?" Then she offered to kiss them better for me. She is such a sweetie! Anyways, feeling good today. A little "weird" feeling in my belly after I took my liquid vitamins. Nastiness!! I am off to go look at your wounds. Are you putting anything on them yet? > Brook
  7. I hear ya! I am only 4 days post-op and my stomach is rumbling for food all day. I am so sick of sweet and really can't wait to eat. I will follow Dr. Mirandas plan but i can not wait for soups!!! I was reading on another forum and some are allowed to have cream of wheat 2 days post-op. I will be honest, it crossed my mind. I chewed up one of my daughters FF today and then spit it out. It was SOOO good! I really can't wait to lose the weight while eating some substance. How is your gas pain? Brook
  8. Hi all! I am doing pretty good myself. At the moment I have some shoulder pain but for the most part been pretty good. I am down 7lbs on my scale from before I left to go to Mexico. That is even with the "last supper" calories that I had a few days before surgery. I am making dinner for my kids and my stomach is really rumbling. I had some yogurt and protein water today felt pretty satisfied. When I picked my girls up from my parents house they had hamburgers with all the fixin's, FF and homemade onion rings. My mouth was watering but I told them I had just ate. I will survive!!! somehow. My stomach is still pretty swollen but going down everyday. I can't wait to start soups or something not as sweet!!! Looking forward to eating solids again. :lb20: Brook
  9. Hi! I am now 4 days post-op. But then again it depends on how technical you want to get because I had my surgery last for the day, April 10, and got out of surgery at about 5. Does that mean that I need to say I am only 3 1/2 days post-op? I thought that somewhere in the forum that I had read that sometime I can have vegetable juice too. Can I have the vegetable juice during the first 3 days or when do they come in? Also, I thought that I had seen on here a while ago ( a month maybe more) a list of foods that other people have been eating while on liquids. I am not very creative when it comes to that so was hoping for some ideas. I tried to search it but don't think that I had the right key words. Also when we can add the EAS drinks can we blend then with banana or strawberry until they are smooth or do we need to wait? If we do wait when do we introduce them? The instructions were good but not great but I will deal with the help of all of you. > Brook Banded April 10.
  10. oops looks like i posted under groupies name. Sorry. Brook PS I ended up losing 14 lbs pre-op.
  11. Hi all I was wondering if anyone ended up wearing their wedding rings. My husband is going with me and could keep it with him while I am in surgery. But is it not safe to wear "out and about". What about taking a purse? Just leave it at the hotel? I feel so unprepared! What other paper work do I need to bring.....I have numbers for Rene etc, the original check, but what else.. Love to hear from you soon! Brook
  12. Oh Lora! Don't be so hard on yourself! Just remember that you are just matching the outside to the inside. You are already beautiful!! I can't wait to meet you! > Brook
  13. I KNOW!!!! I am leaving my house tonight to drop my girls off at my parents house. So I SHOULD be finishing up packing but am very much enjoying the morning quiet. I CAN"T WAIT!!!! See you soon! > Brook
  14. I am in Boise also and was told that there are fill centers here but they don't use Fluro. Let me know what you find tho..... Brook Surgery date-FRIDAY!!!
  15. We are flying in to San Diego at noon then going over to get our pre-op stuff done. So glad to hear that you are coming with a friend. They will keep you company. If you still need help with anything my big strapping hubby can help ya. I am hoping to be able to soak up some rays while I am there along with the shopping. So when you get there I will be the gorgeous tall blond and will be with my tall blond gorgeous hubby by the pool scaring the locals with my white legs. haha. Can't wait to meet you.
  16. I am going in on Friday (4-11) and your experience just reassures me even more! Thank you for that Dawnie! Brook
  17. HEY LORA!!!! I know I can't believe it either!! I am so ready! I'm not nervous as of right now but I don't know if I will be able to say that when they are prepping me for surgery! I think that my kids are keeping my mind off the surgery too. Registration for kindergarten, packing for the kids to stay at my parents, getting the house clean so I don't have to do much after I get home, plus all the other fun stuff like pre-op, workouts and tanning. I have to tan so that I don't hurt anyones eyes from my pasty white skin. Have a very safe drive down there and I will likely see you at the hotel on Thursday. I can't wait to do some shopping!! Brook
  18. Hi Redhead! I am getting my surgery on the 11th so I most likely will the able to meet you! Good luck by the way! I had watched the Oprah show and thought about it for like 2 minutes then totally brushed it off. Then the only pair of jeans that I could fit into (20) HAD to be washed and after they were, they were too tight! ( I was like oops I dried them on accident, that's all. Bought another pair and I was wearing those when I started cleaning up after lunch one day. I threw something in the garbage and missed so I walked all the way into the pantry to pick it up. I bent down and each side of my butt touched the door jam. I then very slowly straighted and backed out of the pantry and looked at how wide the jam was. That was my turning point! My stomach dropped out of my feet to think that was how wide I was. ( ( ( ( Since then i am down 10 lbs and so freaken excited about the surgery. Brook
  19. Hello everyone! Not much time left until I am going in for my surgery and i had a wonderful thing happen today. I have not told anyone but my husband that I was getting the surgery. Well, I told my mom and she was so supportive and actually happy about it. Talk about a relief! It felt like weights had been taken off my shoulders! I do love that lady! So I am getting so excited to get banded and start my new life with the band. I have been thinking about names for it. hehe CRAZY, I know. I started my diet last Wednesday and in that week I lost 7 lbs. So I have dropped the recommended 10 that Dr. Ortiz wanted me to lose. I am going to keep trucking and jump start this a much as a can!! Good luck April 11th bandster with the pre-op diet! ( and the others that have to lose) You can do it! (said it the voice of Rob snider off of waterboy) Be Blessed! Brook
  20. LMAO!! that is too funny Manda! I have not been banded yet BUT could it be possible that your body is in starvation mode? Meaning that after you start feeding your body again it will work for you. I know that you on a strict liquid diet but your body maybe be thinking that it may not get another meal and it's saving some for the "long winter ahead". Although, I hear ya about wanting to lose. I started my pre-op a little early just to make sure I could lose the 10 lbs before the surgery and I lost about 3 lbs and then plateaued. My husband suggest that I add about another 200-300 more calories and I have lost 7 more in just a week. Chin up ladies! You are going to be skinny B!tche$ soon enough!! Brook
  21. Gosh, with all the shouting in here my ears are ringing!!!
