  1. Welcome Deon's Mom, I am new to the forum as well, and have my first Lap Band consult on April 23/08 in Mississauga ON, Canada. I look forward to hearing how you are doing. Best of luck, I know you will do great! Cathy (Kittycat)
  2. I can't tell you how glad I just read this message from Snowbird..it's exactly what I needed to hear....I was afraid that I would never enjoy an ice cream or a french fry again, but you can have it, as a treat once in awhile as long as you go right back on track for nutritional sake. I am even more convinced that this is the route for me. Thanks for your words of wisdom!
  3. Wow, you can certainly see the difference!! Congratulations! I have my first consult on April 23/08 for the Lap Band surgery and all of the stories on this forum are so inspirational..and seeing your before an after pictures is proof that it can be done! Best of luck in your journey! Cathy
  4. To Ramona, Just wondering why you didn't tell anyone what you were doing? I have discussed my upcoming Lap Band surgery with a few girls at work, but haven't told anyone in my family (besides my husband) either. I see my Mom only about 2-3 times per year, so I was hoping to keep it a surprise and when she's sees me for our visit after my surgery, I will have lost weight and after about a year or so, a different person. I don't like keeping secrets, especially from my Mom, but I am not sure she would approve of such a drastic measure...how did you handle it? Thanks Cathy
  5. I checked on-line and they do not recommend carbonated drinks after Lap Band as it can cause the band to increase in size and discomfort (gas). I guess I could do the swish and spit! LOL! Just to get a taste of Diet coke once in awhile.
  6. Thanks Ella, I would double check with my surgeon when I have my consult on April 23/08.
  7. I love my diet coke....I understand I may have to give it up...will I ever be able to have a soda again?

  9. I have my first consultation with the surgeon on April 23, 2008. I have been really the message in this forum and how challenging it has been for some of you during the post op liquid only diet. I am scared I won't be able to do it and my nervousness about this life changing experience is making me eat more than I did before. Just the thought of not being able to eat is freaking me out...although in my head I am ready to do this and want it so desperately. I know the post op liquid only diet is temporary and weight loss kick start will be so worth it and I have keep that in mind, I guess. I love the ladies who chew and spit just to taste real food, that ingenius!! I would appreciate any support or feedback on your experiences. Thanks, Cathy

  15. Thanks Bethany, it really helps to read the good and the bad when making such an important decision...I haven't been contiplating for a long time, but feel that this is the best way for me personally to get the weight off and to get healthy for myself and my family. I will be a better wife and mother when I am happier with myself. I had an appt with my family dr. yestersday and he is in full support of my decision. I have my first consult on April 23/08 to get more info on the procedure and post op details. I have done alot of research on my own and found that the other options are much too invasive for me. Keep me up to date and best of luck! Cathy

  20. I am in the same boat, going for first consult on April 23/08 and apprehensive about the pre-op and post-op diet...I know I need to get my mind ready for all this, it's a scarey thought, giving up diet coke, smoking and french fries...but I know I will do, the end result is getting back to me. I am twice the person I should be. I am 285 lbs at 5'. I getting really excited at the thought of losing weight, but then realize how difficult the process will be. Support from family, friends and fellow bandsters will be my saving grace. Good Luck to you!
