  5. Hi Ladies, Just doing some research before being banded on June 10th. What type of protein/meat have you found is easiest to eat and digest? I like fish, chicken, turkey, beef. I have heard that beef is hard to digest, has anyone had any problems with beef? Or are avoiding it? What about rice, if you chew it really well...can you have it? Thanks for sharing....Cathy

  9. Thanks for the info ladies...I take a bite and then take a drink right now...before being banded on June 10/08, I am going to have to train myself not to do that. What happens if you eat something dry, like a peice of meat and it gets stuck? Can you take a sip of water to help it down? Getting ready for banding is alot like basic training!! LOL!! Cathy

  16. Hi Ladies, I was hit with the flu last night and this morning was violently ill, vomiting and heeving...thank goodness I am not banded yet, but if I were I would have blown something, I am sure of it. Has anyone been sick since banding and what are the signs of slippage of the band or that something has happened? If you think something has happened, would you go to your family doctor to have him check? Xray, ultrasound? I am just starting to feel better now, slept all day, major stomach pains. I have been sucking on popcicles and sipping water, I guess I'm getting a taste of the post-op diet in advance! Take care, Cathy

  20. Hi Alana, My surgeon showed me an actual band and demonstrated it...and the cord form the band to the port is quite long. Cathy
  21. I was explaining the band to a friend and she came up with a question I had not thought of? My surgeon told me that the underside of the port is metal...so, would a metal detector at the airport or anywhere else detect it? Has anyone had any problems since being banded? Thanks Cathy
  22. Great news!! Me too...tentatively booked for June 10th...Woo hoo!!!

  25. I was very apprehensive about telling my Mom about my plans to have Lap Band in the next month or two. When I first mentioned it, she gasped and reacted as I had expected, with great concern. I explained everything and told I had research all of my options and for health reasons, I believe this is the options for me. She relaxed and told me that she would support me completely. She said she would even be there if I wanted her to and come to help with the kids, if I need her. Wow, I am so happy I told her now. My Mom and I have a very close relationship, best friends who talk about everything and I felt guilty not sharing this with her. If no one else is supportive, I at least have my husband, my kids and my Mom!! That's all the that matters!! Thanks for listenening....Cathy
