Hi, I noticed that you flew to San Diego. How much does a flight cost to go down there? If I drive is there any scenery to look at? I'm doing the tourist thing in September and trying to decide whether I will fly or drive to the clinic for a check up. On another topic. Where does one go for great shopping deals in Vegas? Do the outlets have good prices? Anything close to the strip? Any tips would be appreciated. Were only renting a car for the trip to tijuana so I can't go too far away for the shopping. Thanks Sue

I have a vegas vacation already planned from Sept 9 to Sept 17th. So anywhere there would be good for me. I am planning a trip to tijuanna somewhere in between to have my band checked. sue

It seems odd to me that people would feel restricted at times and then the feeling goes away. I don't quite understand why we would feel like that if the band has fluid in it it should always provide the same level of restriction (except of course if we are on our monthly cycle or fly). Has anyone ever asked Dr. Ortiz why this happens? It just does not make sense. sue

I think I will make packing light my challenge. I aaaalways over pack, its ridiculous. I know I can do it just by doing away with all the shoes. thanks for the info

I would be interested in knowing as well. The main reason for me travelling to Mexico for this is the low cost of the procedure an second is his experince with the procedure. It's a little scary to see people having fills and unfills. I personally can not travel all that way everytime I need a fill, as I am looking at $1000+ each trip. I am going to have to depend on a nurse that does them here at home, of course if something does not feel right I will have to go back to the clinic. I had a trip booked to Vegas, before this procedure was even a consideration, in September so I will make the trip to the clinic to have things checked out. I am hoping for the best.

I'm spending 3 nights in San Diego before surgery and 3 nights at clinic/hotel so I will have to pack for 6 days. Did any of you have any problems lifting a suitcase? I will be packing very light but I will need to take more than an overnight bag. sue

When I lost 80lbs mine deflated and looked like a 90 year old lady boobs, just saggy skin. If it happens this time I will have to do something about it. It looked terrible.

Do they have regular plugs like ours or will I need an adapter for my electrical devices? thanks sue

My surgery is on the 27th. I will be having all my pre-op workup and surgery on the same day. I asked to stay at the Lucerna. sue

Well I started the Atkins plan on Monday and so far I have dropped 4lbs. It's going really well and I have no cravings. Of course most of my battle is boredom eating so I've been sticking with tea in the evenings. If I'm hungry I eat a thin slice of cheese or have a bite size piece of meat or some olives. Hopefully I can keep this up!! The weekend is here :lb12: sue

If you are still not feeling better by Monday I would give Dr. Ortiz a call. You are dealing with a breathing problem so they might not take a chance if your lungs are not functioning right. Are you planning on using the volumetric incentive spirometer to exercise your lungs before surgery? They recommend it and it would be especially good for you right now. Good luck sue

Do you mean Camino Real? How come there is no pictures of the pool or even mentioned in the hotel amenities. Seems odd to me. When you say shopping mall, is it on the US side or Mexico? I am looking forward to some good shopping

I was just reading my pre-op instructions and it recommends using this device 1 week before surgery. Did any of you use one. The price they show for online purchase is extremely high, I've seen it for $6-7.
