  1. Hi everyone!!! I was banded yesterday at the OCC and wanted to take a minute and thank everyone on the forum for their support and kindness.

I was super nervous before coming and really just had to force myself not to think of it all, lol. I came alone and so far I have managed fine. Everyone at the OCC was very kind and I think I am doing ok.

I was wondering if anyone else burped (not productively just a small one) the day after surgery?? I have burped several times today and I guarantee you I am following directions. I called the OCC and the receptionist checked with the doctor and said not to worry. Of course, I am still worried. I SO don't want to mess up my chance!!

I am also happy to report I lost 10 pounds on the pre-op diet, it was nip and tuck there, lol!!!

    Thanks again!!!!

  2. I feel infinitely better now after the encouragement!!! Thanks everyone. I SO appreciate this forum!!!! My friends here in KC have been less than enthusiastic about the banding. My H is skeptical to say the least. It really helps to have people believe in you...and to know you can take charge of something that has been running your life!!!

  3. Hi Kim,

Your asking "what if you succeed"....it brought tears to my eyes. The weight has always been my BIG failure and I guess I didn't think till this moment that at some point I might have success at losing....

    Gina,

Yes I am a BIG MISSOURI FAN!!!! Go TIGERS!! I have a nephew who just graduated from KState. We are so glad he isn't a Jayhawk, lol!!!!! I am in Kansas City...thanks for the encouragement!!!

  4. Thanks everyone!! I do appreciate all the encouragement. I have in fact lost 67 pounds over about 2 years but LORDY it has been UGLY!! LOL. One of my main motivations for wanting the band is my INTENSE fear of regaining all the weight. I am a yo-yoer who could write a book about how to gain and relose the same 50 pounds. I have managed to get myself much bigger with all this yo-yoing so that now even after a 67 pound loss I am bigger than when I started dieting the first time, lol. These last few months, I have lost and regained the same 8 pounds even with exercising 5 days a week. I am encouraged to hear that others have new motivation and the ability to hang in there.

I am also glad to hear that perhaps the pre op diet will be the worst of it. I'd not like to put my 3 kids and husband thru much more of Ms. Cranky, lol.

  5. I just sent in the big payment for my surgery next week and I am FREAKING OUT!!!

I am so terrified of failing at the band....much like I have failed at every other diet attempt....only this one cost 8 grand!!!!

My pre-op diet has made me nauseated and I have only lost like 3 pounds, despite continuing to exercise. What if my body won't let me lose any more weight ever???

I know I am sounding crazy....

  6. Thanks Alana for your beautiful and honest blog!!! I identify with so many of the things you described. I am sad to say after my 3rd daughter was born I tried to prevent any pictures being taken of the two of us in the hospital. I am sad to say that I was furious when I found out my coworker showed some pics she took of my daughter and I around the office. I had had lots of fluids (had some complications that caused bloating too) and looked very much like a beached whale. I cried and cried when I saw the pics.

I can't wait to want to have pictures taken with my kids instead of hiding or taking the pics!!!

  7. Thanks for posting your true feelings!! It makes me feel not so alone! I haven't even been banded yet but I am sad about the food/drink loss in an odd way. I have lost some weight thru cutting out alcohol completely, dieting and working out. Big events have been HARD for me. I am hoping the band will provide the satiation effect so I don't always feel hungry. I have a hard time sometimes at events getting full on foods I CAN have. Well frankly, I have a hard time getting full, period, lol.

Guess I need the band, lol!!!

I have begun to realize there are alot of emotions around food...especially during celebration times...for me at least.
