I agree with CalKev. I had surgery yesterday and am feeling great today. Everyone here is so friendly and helpful. Not to mention very professional. I have felt that I am in great medical hands the entire time I have been here. The nurses are very kind and caring. The doctors spent a lot of time talking to me prior to the surgery. I would recommend the Obesity Control Center to anyone who is serious about using the band as a tool to change their life. The plasma televisions in the room are wonderful. They are hooked up to DircTV and have lots of channels to choose from. The bed is very comfortable.

I arrived at the San Diego airport this morning and picked up by Francisco for the trip to Tijuana. I got my pre-ops done and had surgery by 4pm. It has been terrific! I couldn't be happier. The staff here are unbelievable. Every single person has bee the utmost professional and compassionate. I should go to the hotel tomorrow afternoon. I don't fly back home until Sunday so I should be feeling pretty good by then. But I feel really good now. Anyway, I will be back on the boards by Monday when I get back to my home!

I have only told 6 people about my surgery. Surgery is personal and confidential. I can totally relate to the story of someone yelling out in a crowd about how much weight you've lost. I can't stand that and won't put myself under the microscope by telling everyone about my surgery. I like the idea of saying "I eat smaller portions and exercise" when someone asks about my weight loss.

My surgery date is October 20th. I'm flying in from Oklahoma on the 19th. My best friend is coming with me. She is starting the bandster process with a surgeon in Tulsa. Her insurance covers WLS and she is waiting to hear if they will approve her surgery. If it doesn't get approved she will schedule with Dr. Ortiz.
