  1. I have Verizon cell phone service. Has anyone had any experience with it while in TJ? Thanks, Kimberly
  2. Glad to hear everything went well. Kimberly
  3. I too could not go through with Gastric bypass. A couple of year's ago my son's Math teacher died from her gastric bypass surgery, while still in the hospital. A lot of people do ok with the surgery, but I know several people who had to be hospitalized due to complications. I am just not willing to risk it. The lapband is the safest choice. My son's friend's mom had gastric bypass. She has lost a lot of weight. When I picked my son up Sat. from Ryan's house he relayed a message to me from Ryan's mom. She said that she hoped I knew that you can only lose 50lbs. from the lapband. (We all know that is incorrect) The lapband is just a very helpful tool, you must be committed to a healthy lifestyle or you will not be successful. Gastric Bypass works quickly, you lose a lot of weight fast, but if you go back to bad eating habits you will gain your weight back. My co-worker had it done 5 years ago. She said it is a daily struggle to keep her weight down. She said she gains and loses the same 10 lbs. over and over again.
  4. I would be outraged. Some of us have no choice but to go to Mexico because of stubborn insurance companies and we can't afford $15,000 and up. Couldn't he be reported to the A.M.A.?
  5. I have the same worries about losing certain foods, but, The thing that bothers me the most is I read on this board that you are not supposed to drink through a straw. I love my straws!!!!! I don't know how I will get along without one. Good luck on the surgery and keep us posted as often as you can. Kimberly
  6. Thanks Cathy, you are always so supportive! You are a valuable member of this forum and I really do appreciate you. Thanks again, Kimberly
  7. Julie, I have been following your problem closely and I am so glad to hear that you are feeling better, and thanks for the thorough report of your fill center. It helps to put my mind to ease. Thanks again, Kimberly
  8. I am so glad you mentioned the Roswell office. I live near Anniston, AL and that location is the closest to me. That is where I intend to go. If you get time could you possibly pm me with the prices. Thanks, Kimberly
  9. Thanks so much for your vote of confidence. It means a lot. Good luck on eating again. I know I will be scared to death when I get to that point.
  10. I have ordered Dr. Ortiz' book, but I haven't received it yet. I am sure it will answer most of my questions, but I was wondering about appetite suppressant drugs. I have a local Dr. who does a weight loss clinic. 10 yrs. ago I lost 105lbs. going to her, but that was with the help of adipex. When I got down to 150lbs. she would no longer let me have them. My work schedule, (teacher) became a problem when she changed her office hours to morning only and as I began to gain my weight back, I couldn't get in to see her every two weeks. I am a bit worried about the 21 day liquid only phase, and I was wondering if adipex(phentermine) is allowed during that timeframe? I have my mind made up to be successful either way, I do not intend to risk eating solid food, especially since I am paying for the band myself. But, if I can make it a bit easier on myself during those trying weeks, why not? Are appetite suppressants allowed? Thanks, Kimberly
  11. Congratulations! Every ounce lost is a big deal. My husband argued with me and said I shouldn't have started my counter from the weight that I started dieting, but the weight on the date I booked my surgery. I needed to see where I started, not just where I am now. Celebrate every pound lost and pat yourself on the back. Keep up the great work, Kimberly
  12. Please let us know how it went. I live in AL, so I will try to get my fills at the Fill Center in Roswell, GA. They do have flouro. Let me know what you think about the facility and type of care you receive. Best of luck, Kimberly
  13. Sometimes one of the incisions are very close to the breast and sports bras are more comfortable. That is just what I have read. I'm not getting banded until Nov. 20th.
  14. You would think that there would need to be restrictions. I am going to be scared to sneeze!
  15. The first diaper I ever changed was my newborn's. You will do fine, it really is true that most women have a natural instinct and you will adjust to a baby quickly. Congratulations!!!
  16. Yeah, I know what you mean. I thought my low sex drive was just because of the weight I had gained. ( I went from 143lbs. to 252lbs. in just a few years. I am currently at 225lbs.) But, I talked to my gynecologist and she had my hormones tested. I actually do have a testosterone difficiency and I have a cream that is supposed to help. (It hasn't seemed to work) I don't feel sexy because all of my sexy night outfits don't fit anymore. I am so hoping the band will help me bring my sexy back!!!
  17. That is too funny!!! My husband was a bit concerned also, that's why I asked. Please let me know what Dr. Ortiz said.
  18. Congratulations! You are doing great! You are an inspiration. You have made me feel so welcome on this forum. I can't wait to see some pictures! Kimberly
  19. Thanks. I wouldn't want to do anything to cause my band to slip. Does the OCC give a specific amount of time you should wait?
  20. Have fun and good luck on the fill.
  21. I gotta ask this. How long after surgery before you can have sex?
  22. You look so much happier also! Keep up the great work. It is so hard when the scales won't budge.
  23. You guys are the best! Thanks for the replies.
  24. Thanks for the replies. Pads just seem so yucky!!!!!! Now I get to worry that I will leak all over the table.
  25. This may seem like a dumb question, but, I am paranoid that it is going to be my time of the month on my surgery date. I have only had a C-section and a Tubal Ligation so I don't have much experience in surgeries. Are tampons allowed when you go into surgery?
