  1. Hi All

I'll be having an adjustment on Saturday and then will hang around the lucerna for the day.Hopefully I'll meet some of you.

I am assuming you mean Jan. 10th for your adjustment. I will be there Sat. for my 1st fill. I too will probably just be hanging out at the Lucerna for the day. I am too chicken to go shopping by myself. Hopefully I will see you there.

  2. ckiki,

I definitely want to be done with the preop diet too. like I said in my other post, im PMSing right now which means im retaining water!! Im starving all day and scale isnt moving and im getting so frustrated, I hope they understand!

by the way, when I gave my pre-op weight, it was done in my underwear only. Will they weigh us with clothes on? I just thought of that, clothes will surely add a couple of pounds. Great

They weighed me with my clothes on.

  3. If you follow the instructions that you are given at the OCC, your chances of complications are very slim. I just had to trust that everything would be ok. I have lost 25 lbs. since the day I called the OCC. I really think it was the best decision I ever made. The clinic and staff are 1st class. Look into the Fill Centers USA for one that is close to you for your after care.

I did some serious research on the internet for a local Bariatric surgeon that would do my fills. Most won't fill a patient that they didn't operate on, but I located one in Birmingham, AL (1.5 hours away from my house) who will do my fills. I have to pay a new patient fee of $175 and the fills are $100.

I am sure you could probably find one also.

Good luck with the decision that you make.

  4. One guy insisted I buy some jewelry from him. When I said NO, he told me I needed to get out of Tijuana and go to K-Mart. I decided then that I had had enough of Revolution Ave. NEVER AGAIN!

The open air mall is fairly nice, a lot of shoe stores. I bought 9 pairs. We had them in our carry-on and they couldn't scan it properly, so security searched my bag.

  5. Dr. M. weighed my hubby the day I went in for my surgery. As of yesterday he has already lost 20lbs. He has lost more than me and I was on 21 days of liquids. He told me he wished I would lose faster because he's getting tired of the people at work asking how much I have lost and he keeps saying, "Oh about 12lbs since she got the band." I am proud of him and happy for him, but it just sucks that women lose so slowly.......

He has decided to get a band also. His surgery is scheduled for April 6th.

  6. You look great Denise! It's pictures like yours that keep me motivated. I just finished my 21 days of liquids on Tues. I can't get a fill until January, and I have 0 restriction. I am watching portions and following all the bandster rules, while pretending that I have some restriction. I am a little bummed about it, but your photo makes me feel better.

  7. We used the red Mexicoach tour bus. It is $10.00 per person and you have on/off priveliges all day long. Talk to Alonso and he will have them stop for you if you are interested. We didn't have any major problems. At the mall I felt completely safe. On Revolution avenue, I was a bit uncomfortable. The vendors are very pushy. One was really rude to me because I wouldn't buy his gold earrings. If you stay near the hotel you should be fine.

  8. I agree, you look great.

When I lost a lot of weight before, I knew my boobs needed work, but I just didn't have the $$$ so I started wearing these one-piece bodysuit undergarments. They held my stomach in and pushed my much smaller boobs up, and I never had that unsightly bra fat problem. Even as I began gaining my weight back I continued to wear them because they gave such great support, and helped me appear slimmer. Now, I rarely wear a conventional bra. They are just so uncomfortable.

    Thanks Lisa,

    I'll give it another try.

  10. Mine stayed on for about 2 weeks! But, don't scrub them or pick it off. Leave it alone and let them fall off by themselves.

Didn't you just LOVE waking up from anesthesia and finding your boobies stuck to your chest? That darn stuff was harder to get off than anything!

OMG! That was an experience that no one prepared me for! The very first thing I did in my grogginess was pry them loose.

  11. Kristy,

Make sure you take some of the powdered chicken broth. You can run water through the coffee pot and make your own in the hotel room. I got mine in the Hispanic section of Wal-mart and it has a yellow chicken on the front. It is a large jar for only $1.46. It tasted better than regular chicken broth mix. The broth at the restuarant is not all that great. My husband insisted on eating each night at the hotel and I had to eat broth and watch him eat Mexican food. It wasn't that I was hungry, but it smelled and looked great. The one thing I wanted to do when I went to Mexico, was eat an authentic Mexican meal. Well I went in for Pre-ops and they had a surgery opening so I took it. I never got my authentic Mexican meal. I will get my revenge on him, though, he is planning on scheduling April 14th to be banded. I will get my meal then, just a lot less of it.

Also, my entire family drinks the orange early rise drink mix from Wal-mart. It comes in the little packets that you mix in your water bottle. You get like 10 for $1.76 and they are really good. Dr. Miranda said they are fine to drink.

Just whatever you do DO NOT forget the PHAZYME for your gas.

  12. I assume that making my own protein shakes with skim or 1% milk is fine after seven days of clear stuff? Also, I didn't see BROTH on your list. Get one at a health food store instead of a grocery store if you can- they taste better and are better for you. For Canadians, there is one made her by NUtrimax Natural foods....they make ckicken, beef and a spicy tomato that is not like Campbell's tomato, but thinner, like a tomato broth.

If you are being banded at the OCC the paperwork states that after day 7, milk and designer proteins are ok, so making your own shakes should be fine. I made the mistake of buying the Cookies and Cream Whey protein, and it is super nasty!!!!!
