  3. Thanks for the information! Kristy
  4. I got sick a couple of weeks ago. I was so nervous about it affecting my surgery. I would suggest going to the doctor just to be on the safe side. I'll see you next week! Can you believe that it's finally our turn?! Kristy
  5. Great post! Thanks for sharing! Kristy
  6. Yay! How exciting! Keep up the good work! Kristy
  7. What happens at/during the pre-op meeting the day before surgery? Thanks, Kristy
  8. Awesome! Can't wait to meet all of you! Kristy
  9. Ah yes... protein drinks. Oh how I hate them. So regular yogurt and pudding is okay after day 7? Also, I was curious about soft serve ice cream or soft serve frozen yogurt or creamsicles. Thanks, Kristy
  10. Okay... I'm heading to the grocery store tomorrow to stock my fridge and cupboards for my 21 days post-op. Please tell me to remove something from my list, if needed... or to add something that you just couldn't live without. Any thoughts and ideas would be welcomed! Thanks, Kristy Day 1 - 7 Water (add protein packets) Gatorade Juices (diluted with water) Broth (any flavor) Popsicles Jello Yogurt (drinkable) Day 8 - 21 Any of the above Creamy Soups (any as long as the chunks are strained out) Yogurt (regular) Pudding Fudgesicles Questionable Beans (liquified)
  11. NA
  12. I have a Yorkie too. Her name is Bayley! Love, love, love Yorkies!
  13. Thanks for the thoughts and suggestions. I've been rolling it around and around in this little head of mine. Kristy
  14. Don't beat yourself up. Just pick yourself up and move forward. It's not a "deal breaker" for the surgery. Look towards the goal and you will persevere. Kristy
  15. Had the SAME EXACT experience with my doctor about a week ago!!! She ran all sorts of tests to "find something wrong" in hopes that my insurance would agree to pay for my surgery. All of my blood work came back perfect. She supports me, but just said... "If you get down there and have a bad feeling, you can leave without having the surgery." I thanked her for her advice. Kristy
  16. Ahhhhh... love vacations! Thanks for the information. I don't want to push myself... but, I never really considered if I'd need a little time after surgery. Kristy
  17. Thanks for the replies. I think I'll take it day-by-day for now. Hey... CindyLou, you said that you have taken two weeks off of week. Physically, do you feel that you'll need that much time to recover? I didn't really think this part through. I fly in on a Wednesday, home on a Saturday and was planning on going back to work on Monday. Uhm, perhaps I need to reconsider? Kristy
  18. Thanksgiving is here. I'm on my pre-op diet. My pre-op goal is 285 and this morning I was at 286. Dr. Miranda has me on a protein shake for breakfast, a Lean Cuisine for lunch and a Lean Cuisine for dinner. Do I eat Thanksgiving dinner with my family... in moderation? Or should I stick with the pre-op diet? Thanks, Kristy
  19. That's great to know! I can't wait to experience those things. Normally... I sit on the "sidelines" and watch.
  20. How did everyone decide who to tell? When to tell? I told two of my sisters after I scheduled my surgery. I then told my supervisor, and one of the girls that I supervise. I didn't want to tell my parents (they are older; 74 and 76), but the more I thought about it I knew that I should tell them before I fly to Mexico. My mom is a blabber mouth and I made her pinky swear to not tell my other siblings, etc. It's not that I'm embarrassed... I guess I feel like it isn't anyones business. Or... maybe I'm scared of failing another attempt at losing weight. I lost 115 pounds about 8 years ago and I still get the comment, "You looked really great when you lost all of that weight? How could you let it come back?" Kristy
  21. Okay... I was just wondering. Do you have to protect the area of your port? You know... always be cautious of it? What happens if you bump into something. I guess I'm wondering if the band restricts people from doing certain things. Not that it would be a "deal breaker" in regards to my surgery next week. Heaven knows that my weight has restricted me from doing countless things throughout my life. Thanks, Kristy
  22. Thanks for the information! We can never have too much of that! I'm so glad that you are okay! Thanks, Kristy
  23. Ugh... I really hate rude people. I know with my work, when I'm bringing in a presenter or consultant or such and spend hours on the phone in negotiations... whether male or female, once we meet face-to-face I can always see the look of OHMYGOODNESSYOUAREHUGE on their faces. I get that awful feeling in the pit of my stomach and want to crawl into a hole and hide and die. Sighs. Why can't people accept each other for who they are in the right-now-present-moment. Big people have feelings too. And, I sometimes wonder if those judgmental people have the capacity to truly understand that. Kristy
  24. Thanks for the information. I just bought some Bio Oil... I'm going to give it a try! Kristy
  25. Okay. I've been overweight most of my life. You know... my mom buys me jeans in middle school, they didn't fit, I didn't want to tell her because I was ashamed, so I put them on without buttoning them, wore a big shirt and was miserable all day long. Anyways, I digress. When I graduated from high school and left for college I weighed about 200 pounds. I'm only 5' 3.5". I started getting stretch marks on my shoulders. I started putting lotion on them, but it didn't help and they continued to grow. I have about three stretch marks on each of my shoulders and they range anywhere from 1 to 3 inches. Has anyone else experienced this? Just curious how weight loss will affect them. I'm not expecting them to disappear as I've had them since I was 18 and I'm now 33. Thanks, Kristy
