Dana, I was banded the day after Thanksgiving and it is now time for a fill. I live 5 hours away from Dallas, but I just scheduled a fill with Dr. Jay. I was really wanting to go back to the OCC for my fill, but with the price of airplane tickets--I couldn't afford it ( . Thank you for mentioning Dr. Jay. I hope you have a great day. Leah

My mom and I were on the whole time we were at the OCC. Well mostly her since I had surgery, but it was very nice to be able to talk to family on there since our cell phones didn't work. When we got there the lady at the front desk told us the passcode and we got on easily. I was so glad that we took the laptop.

LOL. I was there this weekend getting banded, and we knew nothing about it. We did hear a lot of sirens, but I believe that we were in a really safe area. I think that if you stay close to the hotel and don't go out after dark, everything will be fine. We felt nothing but safety while in TJ and the hotel and OCC. You are in good hands. LeahLanette

Shana!! I am glad you made it home! After a cancellation, reroute, and delays, we got back to our house at about 2 AM. Yea, not cool. I was not in the best of moods. lol. That is way to long to be in airports. Just updating you like I said I would about our return. I will talk to you later. Leah P.S. Shana is hilarious; her and her husband both kind of kept an eye on me and I loved them.

Yay! Our surgeries are scheduled on the same day! I hope we see each other. Your post made me really appreciate the support that I do have. My mom will be going with me to Mexico. My family that know about it have been really supportive, not to say that I haven't got my share of dropped jaws. We are doing this for us: our health, our self-esteem, and our body in general. I volunteer at a private school and as I was telling another teacher, her response cracked me up. She went crazy on me, lol. I just had to explain and basically tell her it was my choice and I KNOW it is the best decision I have ever made. I have kept a very low self-esteem bc of my weight, but something about knowing I have the chance to have the lap-band, knowing that we have great support on this forum, and everything else involving the band somehow is already helping my self-esteem. Wow, what a week it has been! I am thrilled to say that my surgery is finally scheduled =D. I have been waiting for this for over three years and I can not explain everything going through my head. I am now 18, but I wrote on this board at the age 15 wanting it bad. I have a different log in name now, it was sweetyetbratty. So here is my info 6' tall and have like a 46 bmi. I have already started my pre-op diet and I am doing very well on it. My surgery is scheduled for the 28th of this month. Everyone at OCC has been great so far, and I can't wait to meet them in person. Almost everyone I tell has a response of "Are you scared or nervous?" and I can honestly say NO. Now this is not to say that I won't be nervous before going into the operating room, but I have been waiting for this for too long to be nervous. I understand that this will not be easy, but I am ready to do whatever to make this thing work. I just had to spill to all of the lovely people on this board, lol. It would always encourage me when I was going through something to come on here and see the generousity of everyone and to know that I would one day have the chance to have the procedure that binds everyone on this board together.
