  1. Honestly the last week has been horrible. First 7 or 8 days wasnt hungry. Then started on Yogurt and full liquids and had 3 days of very upset tummy and a few days of moderate hunger. last week has been horrible. i hear ya when it comes to protein shakes and creamy soup not cutting it. I work an oilfield joba nd have been out of town the last week to boot and have had a hard time. Ive been trying fruit smoothies and milkshakes and they havent helped either. Tomorrow is day 21 post op for me and i am looking forward to smaller portions of real food

    Hi Dwayne,

To make a long story short, please be careful about the milkshakes. I started drinking them when I was sick. It was the beginning of gaining back weight. They go down too easy and no matter what the restriction they will still go down, even if slowly. You are probably in about the toughest part of the program. Becoming mentally strong. I guess as I read this I am really speaking to myself. I have a total unfill. August 23rd, I will be getting back on the road to restriction. I am headed back to OCC and getting a few things taken care of. Onward Ho! I wish you the best and may we both stay strong.

  2. Hi Caliband, I had my first fill june 11. I had 4.6cc and no restriction either. I have read that alot of people on here done feel any restriction until the second fill. So I am trying to be patient. I scheduled myself for a second fill at the OCC four weeks from my first fill. I will be there July would call and see if you can come sooner. Good luck! 13. I

This is so common with the first fill. Some of us relate with you, when we finally make the decision to have this surgery it is hard to wait for everything to be working. The whole journey is about patience in the beginning and then wise choices. The food addiction is hard to overcome for many, including myself. But the rewards are so worth it.

  3. Being a nurse, I imagine that you do an amount of lifting during the day. I remember being told that we were not suppose to lift over a certain amount for a certain amount of time.

The OCC is available at all times to answer these kind of questions. Email your patient co-ordinator and she will direct your questions. I have to lift heavy record books at my job in the County Courthouse. I know that I did not lift any of those for awhile. The books weigh between 30 and 40lbs. I would recommend that you ask OCC.

  4. Hi Revy,

Do you count calories or have you just been going by the restriction when eating? After a 7mos. hiatus (because of illness) I have just restarted and am getting my port repositioned and a fill. I am trying to decide which route to take. I also had a problem with losing hair the first 5 mos

.I am not sure what I was doing wrong. I have since had no problem and the hair has grown back. I hope you can reply, I will check this out in the morning. Thanks again for all of your help. What a great inspiration you are!

  5. After reading all of raving reviews about this pie, I am wondering what you think would be the calorie count for 1/8th of this pie? I seem to be counting calories, do any of you?

  6. Going for my first fill this Sat, June 28, anyone else going to be there? Also, any tips or suggestions?

Just realize that you are going to the best! For the last year I have been getting fills close to where I live. I have decided that I will be having any future fills at OCC. The fills are a breeze at OCC, they are so exact with the flouroscopy, in fact I will be there on July 8th. I was trying for June 29th, but wasn't able to get a flight.

  7. They look terrific!!!!!!

You are brave! I wish I had the guts to post before and after pics, cuz I have to say that I am very impressed with the work Dr.Quiroz did on me! lol - now that I am expecting, I may be visiting him again lol

  8. Hello Ladies!

Well I am STILL at 181 and have been fighting with this fill. I am going in about 30 mins to have some fluid removed. I dont think I am eating enough and EVERYTHING I am putting in my mouth is getting stuck! Tired of fighting it. Good Luck to everyone on their weigh in today!

    Carrie

Carrie, Way to be smart. I wanted to lose so much, that I was determined that I was going to wait it out on everything getting stuck. Got to the point thateven water wasn't going down. I had to go see a pulmanologist (lungs). I ended up with aspirated pneumonia, not good. Had a total unfill, after six months of nothing, I finally was able to have a fill this last Monday. I feel like my life is starting over and I have the excitement of wanting to lose again. If we had a way to let all of those that are banded to get an unfill when they start getting things stuck all of the time, it could possibly keep ones from getting ill. I really do commend you on getting an unfill right in the beginning.

  9. I am curious, how many calories do most of you eat a day? Please be honest. I am wondering what you were told and how many you are using. I was looking through my paperwork that I received 1 year ago just to brush up and help motivate myself. I could not find the paper thaht suggested how many calories to count. I would sure appreciate everyones input on this.

I need my battery charged. lol

I have been under the weather since July and had to have all of the saline removed. I still have not had a refill yet, but I am ready to get back on the wagon. Since July I have gained back 7lbs.. Since I weighed myself I have been maintaining.

    Thanks,

    Anne

  10. i only started feeling restriction after my 3rd fill ... before then, they were too minimal, which made adjusting my eating & lifestyle to the band easy.

Are you from Oregon? I really appreciated hearing

how you receive your fills and would be interested in knowing how much they cost. I live on the very east side of the state but would be willing to drive the distance to have good care.

  11. Hi All,

It's been a long time since I've visited the Forum! I've done well and maintained my weight. I am considering one more small fill

to satisfy my inner ego. I started with the lap band at a size 2-3X and am now a size 10. At my age that's pretty good, but am

unable to lose that last 10 - 15 pounds. Been exercising at least 3 times per week, but my weight has not budged in months. I have to say

the Band is the best tool ever and have been so happy with my results. Happy Holidays to all and remember to listen to your band!

    Arlene

    Arlene,

You are looking great! It has been quite awhile since I have visited this site also. I am glad that I did, reading everyone elses' experiences and questions motivates me to get with it! I have been very lax.

  12. First of all I have say thank you to Sabrina. I was checking my email, and there was a short note from Sabrina. I have no idea how long it has been since I have visited this sight, but I definitely needed it for the encouragement and to be a part of lap band. Well, I am back. It has been a very difficult last 6 months. Coughing that couldn't be diagnosed, that went into pneumonia, which led into vomiting, which led into strep throat, which led into pneumonia. Long story short, I ate, I vomited, I drank, I vomited. My joke with my husband and doctor was "that I couldn't even lose weight as an anorexic". I now have had a complete refill and I am looking forward to being able to start the process all over again. It is so encouraging to see those of you that say you have lost slow but have lost anywhere from 50-80lbs. in a year. I had my goal set for a 100lb. loss for Dec. 15th, which is my one year anniversary. Now I am happy with my 78lbs. and realize that I have never lost this much weight and been able to keep it off. Again, Sabrina, you have no idea what a boost this has been for me to get back to focusing on the positive. Anne

  13. B: Leftover pasta - not a good start to the day!

    L: Mini raviolis

S: Quaker mini delights (chocolate mint)

D: Taking chili and soup to work - not sure what i'm gonna be craving so i'm taking two options

    Calories so far: 600

I haven't been on this sight for several months. I just have to say - wow! Shelby you are looking very beautiful. Anne

  14. You know there is one more example of how we are all banded. I am at work and I cannot keep the laughter in. I had meant to ask for a pair of those "Victoria Panties" but I forgot to ask. I woke up so drugged that I can't remember what happened with the panties, but since they were not to be found, I guess they went like all of the others.

Laughter is the best medicine. We have had our battles, but I have to say it sure is a lot of fun when we can relate to the funny things.

    Anne
