  1. Just wondering if you guys think its necessary to stay the night when getting your 2nd fill. How long does it take to know if you need a unfill? Also, if were supposed to be on clears right after a fill, how would you know if you need a unfill? Basically, I am booking my 2nd fill for either the 11th or 12th. I cant decide if I should stay the night. Any input would be GREATLY appreciated!

  2. Well...I finally gave in and bought the Body Bugg last night. I have been soo busy, I havent excercised since I was banded. I decided my New Years day will officially start in the morning. I am going to the gym with my new Body Bugg on one arm and my new Hydrocoach water bottle in the other. I hope the 2 will restart my weight loss. I got my 1st fill on Jan 16th. I have great restriction but my weight isnt budging. I think its because I am not getting alot of calories in & I am not exercising. Wish me luck! :P

  3. 1. Name: Sarah

    2. Location: San Francisco Bay Area

    3. Age: 33 (still in denial)

    4. Band Date: 12/3/08 (first day of my new life!)

    5. Married: Yes- 10 yrs, 11 months, 10 days... and loving every minute of it! 11 yr wed. anniversay is in 10 days!

    6. Children of the human or furry kind:No, but desperately trying! Hoping my new band will help make our dream of little munchkins come true.

    7. Hobby(ies): Traveling...I absolutely love to travel & read

    8. Work: Trauma ICU Nurse. I also just got my Nurse Practitioner licence. Next step..Doctorate.

    9. What was the deciding factor(s) on getting banded: I gained all my weight a couple of years ago when I lost my sister. Food suddenly was the only thing that could comfort me like she did. Now.. a couple years later.. I dont recognize the person I see in the mirror. So, I find myself not looking in the mirror that much. Well, I decided that has to stop..& I hope by losing wt, I can FINALLY have little munchkins running around.

Lastly, when I was coming back from being banded, at the checkpoint, they gave me a hard time coming thru because my license and passport picture were soo different. I had to explain to him that I look different because I am FAT now! I knew right then, I had made the best decision of my life to be banded.

    10. Interesting factoid: When I was 8 or so.. I put a bobby-pin in the wall electrical socket. Well... I electricuted myself! For 1 yr, I felt I had ants crawling all over me.

  4. Hello everyone. I am scheduled for my 1st fill on Jan16th. But, I am flying out a couple hours after my fill. I wanted to know from those of you who have gotten fills, what your thoughts are on not staying the night. I am debating on whether I made the right decision on not staying the night. Do you guys think a couple hours at the OCC is enough to determine if my fills right? <_<

  5. Hi Kristy... sorry for the late reply. I am feeling much better. I started experimenting with what I can and cant handle with the band. This has really helped. I just need to remember to take tiny bites and to really chew my food. I just scheduled my 1st fill on Jan 16th. I get in at 8 and my fill is scheduled at 9:30. My flight back is at 4. Hopefully I can see you that day. Is there anyone else going to be at the OCC on the Jan 16th?

  6. Hello.. and Happy Holidays everyone. I was banded Dec 3rd. I started solids a couple days ago. I have discovered that I can not tolerate chicken, beef and fish! I am taking tiny bites, chewing like crazy, and eating slow. I can keep certain things down, but those I listed and many other things, I end up vomiting within 5 mins or so. I was at wk today & I figured ok, well salmon may work. Well, I had 3 bites, and I thought I was going to die from a heart attack. I was just praying to please let me make it back to my unit and to the bathroom. Well....I vomited in the hall right in front of the neurosurgeon team. I was soo embarresed. Of coarse they were very helpful but I just wanted the ground to open up and swallow me!! Anyway, is this normal??? I am scheduled for my 1st fill on Jan 15. I cant imagine being any tighter than I am. And also-- after I expelled the salmon,, welll I was full as can be. I dont know if I should be grateful that I can barely eat or worried that I cant get basic protein in. ANY suggestions or help would be very much appreciated.

  7. Hello Everyone....can anyone clarify how you would know if your band slipped? I have read alot on this forum to be careful because the band can slip, but what are some of the signs/symptoms that it has actually slipped? I am 2 1/2 wks post-op and with the occassional aches and pains I sometimes get, I find myself wondering how do I know if those pains are from it slipping.

  8. Hello everyone.... well its post-op day 6. I cant believe how fast this week has gone by. By this I mean surgery day, not clear liquids! Can I just say, just saying "clear" makes me want to vomit! Anyway, well I am down 10 lbs!!! (16 lbs from pre-op wt, 10 lbs since surgery) I am very excited. I am wondering if the wt will come back once solids are started? Also, I find my stomach muscles are soo sore. I am still having pain around the lg incision site. I get wiped out with my abdominal muscles after even a short walk. This has got me freaking out a little bit since I go back to clinical rotations tomorrow ( I have 4 rotations left to get my nurse practitioner license)!!! And then I go back to wk this weekend. The rotations are only 8 hr days. But I do 14 hr shifts at wk. And I wk 4 in a row. At this state, im not sure I can do it. Sorry for going on... but I'm a little stressed since mondays here. I scheduled my 1st fill for Jan 15th. Does anybody know if accessing the port causes pain afterwards? Thanks for listening and have a great monday!!
