  1. I was banded 1/2 and I felt discomfort for a very short time, however the gal that I went with who I stayed in touch with had alot of bruising and pain for almost 3 weeks, she is just starting to feel better. I think everyone's body reacts differently, I wouldn't be too concerned but would call and ask if it would put your mind at ease. Even though I had heard about the shoulder gas pain ahead of time I still went to my doctor here in the US, he ended up doing all kinds of blood clot tests just to be safe and even though everything was all clear, I was still happy to know I was ok and it really was "just" gas.
  2. Dont worry, I brought my mom, sister and stepdad and I felt bad because everyone else was there alone but all talking to one another. Part of me wanted my family to leave early so I can join the group. Once your there you will feel more at ease. After surgery all of us were walking around and chatting with eachother so once your at OCC you definitly wont feel alone. Also on the shuttle back to the hotel/border/airport there was about 5 of us on it so you wont be alone for that part either, most likely.
  3. I had HORRIBLE PAIN! And it finally went away on day 14, the thing that I think helped the most was Milk of Magnesia, once I started that, the pain was gone within 3 days. Hope this helps
  4. Sounds sort of normal, maybe part of it was irritated earlier by a certain blouse or soemthing, hope it gets better. My big incision is almost non visible and I am 14 days post op. my little ones are taking longer to scab/heal so I am the opposite of you. Good luck, hope it gets better.
  5. I dont know why I forgot to ask her that when I was there, thanks so much for the info!
  6. Me and a gal I got banded with are going for our first fill on February 21st. We are driving from San Diego if anyone wants to join us.
  7. I am 12 days 13 days post op, in the first few days I was losing one lb a day, now I have been at the saem weight for a few days, I noticed I was not walking as much so I got back to that for the last 2 days. Im hoping that helps. Maybe walk an extra mile or do some light exercises through out the day. I hope I dont hit a stall like that. Im sure you will start losing again soon. Good luck.
  8. I didn''t interpret anyone's post as sounding like someone who drinks more that occasionally. I spent day 4 after surgery in the emergency room for 8 hours because of the pain I was in, my doctor there is the one who prescribed me vicodin for the pain after running numerous tests and catscans and even some test where I had to inhale radiation for an body scanner. My shoulder pain was so bad I could not leave the bed prior to that, and almost fainted twice. I dont think anyone else here was supporting "self prescribing" either. I'm sorry your offended by my "stopping drinking is not an option" statment, but everyone here is different and leads their own lives. If you read too much into it and assume that it means drinking everynight then your overanalyzing it, thats not what I meant.
  9. Thats a good idea to add ice. Thanks all. I think I will wait for the start of my solids, its a week from Friday so not too far away. I read everything about drinking post surgery but I am 26, and still in college and have always been able to handle my liquer in the past, I am sad to give up beer, but to give up drinking completely is not an option. Just got to move into moderation town and make a new home for myself.
  10. I didn't see it in my paperwork, but how long before you can have a drink? I know its empty calories and read everything about how you get tipsy easier. I am just wondering if anyone has asked Dr. Miranda and what she told you. This shoulder pain is killing me and a glass of Red wine has always helped me relax. I'm weening off the vicodin so I was thinking instead of the pills, maybe a glass or 1/2 glass of cabernet would help me get some sleep. Thanks!
  11. My shoulder pain was so bad I ended up in the emergency room 3 days after surgery hoping they could do something for me, unfortunatly they just gave me vicodin and said it will go away soon. The vicodin has helped but not taken away the pain, the only thing that has helped me recently is drinking milk of magnesia, it helps me pass gas and that seems to help the pain. I have also used, gas x , phazyme, heat pads, walking, tea, ibprofen, massage, and antiacids but nothing will make it go away permanently, its a waiting game. I was banded one week and 3 days and I still have the pain. Hopefully yours will not last as long.
  12. so your gir is now a bandster today. I've bee out for a few hours, just chillin and recuperating. Lovely Place, lovely people. I'm still helluv tired tho, so going back to bed to watch Oprah! :-) Anyway, wantedto stay high in my slightly drugged state. IF anybody's here today, I'm the black with braids, in bed across from counter nearest to the door. Good luck everyone! :-)
  13. I had my surgery last Friday and was back at work on Tuesday, I feel really bloated and have gas pains in my chest and shoulder, but luckily I dont have to do much but sit and type at work, its normal to feel yucky, I have vicodin for my shoulder pain so I feel a little lightheaded too.
  14. I brought mine and had trouble connecting to the internet, I asked one of the nurses for help and he was able to get me on there. I spent about a minute on it then went back to resting, it seems vital but there is so much going on and resting to do I dont think you will need it, they have two internet ready computers available for use at any time as well.
  15. I just found this while looking for info on how to get rid of shoulder pain "During the lap, C02 (Carbon Dioxide) gas is injected through a special needle inserted just below the navel.(1) " Could be the answer to your belly button question
  16. This is off the OCC website and where everyone gets confused, as for the DL, it is always smart to check requirements for crossing the border instead of making assumptions. Tijuana, Mexico The cost of the Lap Band procedure includes the following services: Three surgeon team - which includes our Anesthesiologist Two day stay at the hospital where surgery is performed Operating room costs All preoperative evaluations Lap Band implant Two nights at a 5 star hotel Transportation to and from the airport Fill adjustments and follow up care They should put some kind of asterisk explaining that there is a $100 materials charge on there, it is misleading.
  17. I use photobucket.com to use message board pictures, I havent posted any on this message board but have used it for others, once you upload the picture it will give you 4 different codes, you would normally copy and paste the code that starts with , try that it should work .
  18. The thought of having this pain for 2 months makes me want to jump off a cliff.... I went to the emergency room yesterday it was so bad, they said that sometimes that pain can be a sign of a blood clot, so I went there thinking they would give me pain killers and be on my way, instead I was there for 8 hours running every test imaginable. I am glad to know I am healthy and doing well but they were unable to do anything for the pain other then prescribe vicodin. The only good thing is that when I lay on it, I am able to sleep at night. Oh well, guess I will have to take it day by day. I am sorry anyone has had to go through this, but I am also glad I am not the only one as that would probably make me real nervous.
  19. my friend is a massage therapists, she said she can come by today, hopefully that helps!
  20. My left shoulder is killing me, I know its gas pain but I've taken GAS-x strips and chewables, wallked alot, and slept with a heating pad on it, what else can I do? It feels like someone is hammering a nail into my shoulder! Other then that I feel great. Please help!
  21. We are at OCC right now and the OCC is less that a mile from the border, and surrounded by bunisenesses and shops, the violence moslty occurs in the further south residential area's of TJ, the hotel is very close to OCC as well so dont worry about the violence, there is too much partol in this area. Think of it as los angeles, it has beverly hills but it also has compton and south central. The small amount of area you will be located in has nothing to worry about. Good luck! I like it here at OCC so much I dont want to leave!
  22. Hi, I am at OCC right now and ws the last one to have the surgery yesterday, they brought me into the or around 2:30 or so, the surgery itself only takes about 20 minutes Dr. Martinez said and the pre-op stuff did not take long so I wouldnt sweat it. Everyone here is soo polite! I dont want to go home!
  23. Thank you, I am leaving in the morning and will be at OCC by 8am. This is the first day its really set in that this is actually happening. I will have my laptop and will post if I can after surgery.
  24. Me too! I feel so much less stress, of course I am going to stick with it but the paranoia is diminished! See you on Friday!
  25. I havent gained any for sure, I am at 203lbs so I am not TOO high risk. My BMI is 31. I am still going to continue to get down as much as I can I just dont want to feel like I have to resort to fasting for the next 2 days. Thanks for your help!
